One Piece: I'm Destined to Be the Son-in-Law King!-Chapter 250: Imperial Order to Court a Girl
Chapter 250 - Imperial Order to Court a Girl
Holy Land, Mary Geoise.
Inside a Bubble Lift Boat.
"To think they want me to marry a man from the Lower Realm!"
Inside a fancy room, Shalria was fuming. Tears welled up in her eyes, threatening to spill.
She'd always known she wouldn't have much say in her marriage. Usually, Celestial Dragon women married men from other Celestial Dragon families. That was just how things were.
But Shalria never imagined she'd be forced to marry some commoner, a man from the "Lower Realm." And not even a prince or nobleman! Just a Marine, the very same Marine who had dared to threaten her before!
The word "humiliation" couldn't even begin to describe how she felt. It was so much worse than that.
The Bubble Elevator came to a gentle stop.
A servant's voice called from beyond the door. "Shalria Palace, we have arrived."
"I know," Shalria snapped.
She quickly wiped away her tears and smoothed down her clothes. Then, she put on her special Celestial Dragon spacesuit and bubble headgear, stepping out with as much grace as she could muster.
Seeing the man waiting for her, her mood instantly sank.
"Yo, Shalria-chan!"
Roya greeted her with a wide grin. He didn't bow or kneel like everyone else. He acted like they were equals, completely fearless.
Over the past few days, while waiting, Roya had started to understand the situation. When he'd joked about becoming a Celestial Dragon, the Five Elders had taken him seriously!
They'd even gone so far as to arrange a political marriage! And his bride-to-be was the woman standing right in front of him.
His mission wasn't just to protect her, but to win her over. An Imperial Order to Court a Girl! He had to build a relationship with Shalria.
If he played his cards right and married her, he'd become a Celestial Dragon, no questions asked.
He'd gain power, status, and eventually, control of the Marines. His future would be set! The Five Elders would be happy, too.
It was a win-win situation.
And what if he refused?
Shalria was pretty enough, but even if she looked like a monster, Roya would force himself to go through with it.
Who wouldn't want to skip decades of hard work?
"Hmph!"
Shalria scoffed, annoyed by Roya's lack of respect. But she couldn't do anything about it. Not yet.
The Five Elders had arranged this marriage. Even her father, Saint Rosward, couldn't change their minds.
In a way, she had to please this man. She had to take the initiative to make sure this marriage alliance went through.
"Let's get going!"
They weren't just visiting the Sabaody Archipelago for a few days. They were also traveling to a member country, a trip that would take about a month.
Shalria just wanted to go home.
---
An hour later, Sabaody Archipelago.
The streets were lined with people kneeling, heads bowed low, in a grand Celestial Dragon procession.
Roya walked beside Shalria, truly feeling the power and status of the Celestial Dragons.
It was easy to see how they became so arrogant, how they saw everyone else as ants.
This feeling is both amazing and terrifying.
A sense of guilt washed over him.
"Hey," Roya said, turning to the guards behind them. "All of you, go back and wait. I'm enough to protect Shalria Palace."
The guards were confused. They'd been ordered to treat Roya with the same respect as Shalria.
They looked at Shalria for guidance.
Shalria pursed her lips. She hated Roya, but he was going to be her husband, a Celestial Dragon.
She couldn't let him lose face in front of the servants. That would damage not only his reputation, but hers, and the prestige of all Celestial Dragons.
A Celestial Dragon's order was absolute!
"What are you waiting for? Get out of here!" she snapped.
"Yes, Shalria Palace, and Lord Roya!"
The guards quickly retreated, but stayed close, switching from obvious protection to secret surveillance.
Roya raised an eyebrow, surprised. He thought Shalria would argue.
Shalria lifted her chin.
"Don't get the wrong idea. I'm not helping you!"
"Thanks," Roya said with a smile. "It's much more relaxing now."
Having a huge group of servants and guards around was uncomfortable. It was nothing like hanging out with his own crew.
But...
He looked at the kneeling people, and sighed.
"Let's go buy some new clothes."
"Buy clothes?" Shalria's eyes lit up.
Like any woman, she loved shopping for pretty new things.
"I know a great clothing store!"
"Then let's go."
Soon, they arrived at a lavishly decorated clothing store. There were only a few customers, making it feel almost empty.
The shopkeeper rushed to greet them, kneeling on the ground, beaming. "Shalria Palace! What an honor! Please forgive the humble surroundings!"
"Get up," Shalria said, acting like she was a regular.
"Do you have any new styles?"
"Yes, a new collection just arrived a few days ago, designed by the famous fashion designer Rainbow! Each piece is unique!"
The shopkeeper rubbed his hands together, like he'd just seen a walking treasure chest. Smiling, he pointed at a skirt. "Look at this hem, made from sea king skin! Only 2 million Berries!"
"How cheap," Shalria said, flipping through the skirt, liking it more and more. "I want this one!"
Roya stood to the side, his eye twitching.
2 million Berries? Is this skirt made of gold?
Dozens of uniquely styled outfits were laid out on the counter, and the amount of money spent was rising quickly.
The shopkeeper rubbed his small hands together. "Shalria Palace, the total is 100.3 million Berries, but for you, we'll call it an even 100 million."
"Yes, I'm very satisfied," Shalria said, pleased, maybe because of the new clothes, or maybe because the shopkeeper had given her a discount.
Roya stood silently, watching Shalria. If this woman becomes my wife, I'll be broke in no time, no matter how rich I am.
He stepped forward, grabbed a set of clothes that weren't too outrageous, and handed them to Shalria. "Put these on."
"Huh?" Shalria didn't understand.
"Just do it."
Shalria's forehead creased with annoyance. Why should she listen to him? If they weren't in public, she'd give him a piece of her mind.
"Hmph!"
Despite her thoughts, Shalria went to the changing room and quickly came out, looking at herself in the mirror with satisfaction.
"Pop!"
Roya took off her bubble headgear.
He looked Shalria up and down, then reached out and undid her hair bun, letting her hair fall down around her shoulders.
She looks a lot better like that.
"Eh?" Shalria touched her head, her cheeks flushing.
What is this idiot doing?
"Let's go," Roya said, putting his hands in his pockets and walking out.
He didn't want to cause a scene just by walking around.
