Chapter 109 - H-Hey! I’m the great Captain Usopp!
"Did you want to stay on the ship or something? *cough" Gin asked him, clearing his throat, "You... *cough... you look confused."
"Uh... No, I'm just confused as to where we're going." Well, he had no reason to hide it from him, but he figured he might like the surprise. Eh... whatever
"We're looking for a Gunsmith... *cough... I actually was from Logue town, well, wasn't born here... but stayed half a decade here... before going on to be a pirate... *cough... so I was thinking if I could set you up with good guns," he replied. "I figure if Luffy called you a sniper... *cough... we should actually get you a rifle."
"But I have guns..."
"No, I mean a rifle. You know the sniper rifle that is used for long-distance attacks, the only drawback is it will use real bullets..."
"...Huh?" Gin didn't know what he was confused about, but he didn't bother asking him as he saw their destination ahead of them. Walking inside, the pair wandered over to the rifles and began to shop.
The shopkeeper recognized Gin immediately and spoke with him for a bit, before leaving them behind to scout the shop.
"What do you think we should get you? *cough" Gin asked as she examined the guns. "A bolt action would probably have more power behind it, but if you can master it that would be really helpful."
"...I dunno." Looking over at Usopp, Gin saw him worried.
"What's the matter?" He asked, confused. Usopp was just playing with his fingers, mumbling something under his breath. "Come on man... *cough *cough... I can tell something's bothering you."
"...I-I already have two guns... do I need it," he said. Gin blinked at him a few times, unsure if he was serious. He was supposed to be their sniper, was he not? A sniper without a real sniper rifle.
"Oh," he finally said. "That's fine, but I would think a sniper would want one, wouldn't you?"
Usopp opened his mouth, but then shrugged. "I... uh, I don't know about large guns... they... how should I say it, they don't fell right for me. Though, I'm eager to take on a bazooka, but they aren't actually guns."
Gin deadpanned, "And sadly they don't sell them here..." Gin said. "Still, now that we are here... I think you should look for a pair of new guns or at least buy stuff to modify the guns from an actual gunsmith. No offense, but they might do better then both you and Spakry combined."
Usopp felt a bit hurt, but Gin did have a point. "But, hey... how do you know so much about guns anyways?"
Gin took a medium-sized pistol out of his back pocket, which was well hidden, and waved it back and forth it front of Usopp, his eyes watching it.
"Wait, you have a gun?" Usopp asked.
"Of course, I have a gun. *cough... Though, I rarely need to use it." Gin said, "I might be strong, but I have no love for the sword like Zoro or Kuina, nor do I have weird abilites like Sanji or Luffy... I use every advantage I have. *cough... That's why I took to the shop... the last fight... *cough... it showed me that I wasn't enough."
Gin was saying those genuinely. Usopp looked at Gin, who was sighed, massaging the wound on his chest, and the burn wounds on his arm.
"Believe me, you don't want to be in that place... *cough... the helplessness you will feel. That's why I think you should be prepared. " Gin said, "And besides I have heard Yasopp was very famous for his use of a long-ranged rifle, that's the reason why I brought you here... But if you aren't comfortable, then figure a way out, with your slingshot... I don't know, use a bow or a bigger slingshot, that might work." Gin shrugged.
That made Usopp think. A bigger slingshot... that could give him more firepower, if a bigger resistant band was used. But his internal thinking was cut short by Gin.
"When I became a pirate, I accepted that one day I might die, but that doesn't mean I won't try to live. Also, unlike the previous crew... this one has a better understanding. Captain Luffy is very caring about the crew... so you don't have to make sure you live, but your crewmates as well."
Usopp stared at him for a good long time, before he nodded.
"Fine," Usopp said. "I get what you're saying. But I won't take the rifle..." Gin was surprised by Usopp's refusal. "I don't think it works with my style... like you know how you don't use swords or clubs and use that weird weapon of yours..."
Gin blinked again, but nodded. Usopp did have a point, no point in forcing to learn something that he wouldn't be comfortable using in a fight. "So what are your plans..."
"I will actually follow your idea..."
"Which one?"
"The one with the big slingshot... I'm sure I can make it better than any sniper rifle." Usopp said, "For close range, I will fight with my guns, while in the distance I can use that."
Gin blinked, before he burst out laughing. "If anyone can figure that out, then it's you... I knew you had some balls after all."
"H-Hey! I'm the great Captain Usopp! My many enemies know I take no risks! I account for everything!"

"I'm sure you do 'Captain'. I'm sure you do." Gin shook his head, smirking. "Now, if you have the ideas, I'm sure the gunsmith might be able to help you with making your large slingshot... well, he might love your creative ideas and give you a discount."
"Okay," Usopp nodded, as both of them made their way to the gunsmith.
