Online Game: Starting With SSS-Ranked Summons-Chapter 404: Plans
Chapter 404: Plans
Sunless always attacked with restraint, always leaving targets wounded rather than dead, leaving the others to finish them off.
"Finish them off, they are almost dead." He muttered, with a cold, heart-clenching voice.
The families had learned to trust his tactical assessments. Equipment drops from his demon kills had transformed soccer moms and high school students into competent fighters.
CRASH!
Four lesser demons breached the residential barricades simultaneously.
Sunless met their charge with movements that defied physics.
SLICE! SLICE! SLICE! SLICE!
Four precise strikes left four demons at the brink of death, writhing on the lawns.
"Now," Sunless commanded. "Strike while they’re disabled."
The survivors moved with confidence earned through survival.
...
Back in Detroit, Arthur stood near the dimensional rift, his mind growing through his next plans. Despite being next to a rift that was claiming millions of lives around the world, Arthur didn’t seem to care.
It’s time to expand my operations. This isn’t going to be enough.
The massive tear in the air pulsed with demonic energy, but the immediate area had been cleared of threats. His forces had established dominance through overwhelming tactical superiority.
Throughout the whole of Detroit, that was the only rift, and Arthur had taken control of it.
These rifts will be the perfect staging ground for larger plans. Hopefully, the demons don’t close them. Otherwise, they would be blocking my profits.
Arthur’s plan was simple.
Kill as many demons as possible and level up his own people. Yes, some might try to break out of his team and leave. But he didn’t care, only idiots with no brains would leave his party.
The benefits of being with him outweigh any kind of con that could come with it.
Items? Arthur had them all.
Protection? Arthur was the strongest
Money? It would come with power.
Safety? That was a given.
Skills? His guild could provide.
The pros were too many to count. Only a fool would reject his company, and fools were not people that Arthur wanted to associate with.
"Master, these demons were getting boring. They’re too weak to play with properly."
Aetherion perched on his shoulder in his smaller form, the void dragon’s enthusiasm had noticeably dampened. After playing with the demons for so long, it had gotten boring.
Thus, the little dragon decided to accompany his master. In his mind, being next to his master was never boring.
Arthur patted the dragon’s head softly, feeling the familiar touch of his scales. ƒгeeweɓn૦vel.com
Arthur understood the dragon’s frustration. Level 2 and level 3 demons provided little challenge for a creature capable of spatial manipulation on such scales.
It was like when you bought a story game. Once your initial excitement is finished, and you’ve completed the story sequence, you’re done. The game was no longer playable; that’s how Aether felt with those demons.
Arthur did not mind; he told Aether to stop and come to him.
"Soon, Aether. Stronger opponents are coming. We will both have fun playing those opponents."
"Really? I can’t wait," Aether said excitedly, rubbing his head on Arthur’s.
Gates’s subordinates moved through the area with growing confidence. They had been constantly slaying demons with Aether’s help for some time. After killing so many demons, they had all levelled up.
Gate’s subordinates were now level 5 across the board; they were also equipped with rare and very rare items that enhanced their combat power by large margins.
They were no longer weak, waiting for Aether to do the work whilst they just harvested the crops. They were now active, and some had developed enough skill to handle uninjured demons solo.
It was a remarkable achievement considering their backgrounds mere minutes ago. Others still required group coordination, but even that represented exponential improvement.
As for whether they would continue to progress at such a rate, only time would tell.
Jax and his military team had integrated seamlessly into the operation.
The resurrected officer’s absolute loyalty ensured his team’s perfect cooperation while maintaining the illusion of military presence.
Having military forces here deflects unwanted attention from the military itself.
Arthur’s eyes detected approaching movement from the southeast.
New arrival. Awakened individual.
"Hello!!" Maria Jayne’s voice carried pure excitement as she waved enthusiastically.
Her lightning-enhanced body practically vibrated with energy, a massive smile dominating her features. Whether the energy was because of the electricity coursing through her body or her bubbly personality, it was unknown.
She is alone...She must have a good talent to survive for this long. Arthur thought, watching Maria walk towards them.
Maria approached with obvious relief, her eyes tracking the constant demon elimination happening around the rift area.
The simplicity and organisation of the operation clearly impressed her.
The group in front of her had turned a dangerous rift into a farming zone. It was akin to a powerful team getting spawn-camped by a team that was meant to be much weaker.
"This is incredible! You’ve actually got them under control!" Maria gestured at the tactical operation.
Arthur studied her with interest.
Based on the energy she was giving off, Arthur could tell that the woman had awakened an A-rank Lightning talent.
She is a talent. It would be good to recruit her.
"You made it safely, good job, not everyone does," Arthur observed.
Whilst Arthur’s statement was a simple truth. It was also a harsh reality.
Maria’s expression grew serious as she processed his words.
"I know. I saw...many things on the way here. People who didn’t make it."
Maria’s facial expression spoke of her survivor’s guilt. It was a common reaction from those who survived the onslaught of the demons whilst people they knew died, whether they were a neighbour or the shopkeeper next door.
"But you did make it. That matters." Arthur said, reassuring the woman who was clearly burdened by her choices.
She was clearly put under pressure. Her survival, or others’ survival, and based on her reaction, she had chosen hers a few times.
Arthur’s tone carried acknowledgement without excessive sympathy. Survival was an achievement enough in the current circumstances.
Whilst he reassured her, it was subtle. She had to adapt to her environment. If she didn’t then she wouldn’t survive, no matter what.
