With twenty-one summon slots occupied, I still have twenty-one slots remaining.
Arthur’s mind went through a few thoughts that emerged.
His current level and talent effects allowed for forty-two simultaneous summons, a force capable of reshaping continents with his current power.
I have twenty-one summon slots. With my current storage of killed creatures, the strongest I could summon are five superior-rank True Demons. These demons will possess strength equivalent to Aamon.
They will also share the same level as me, level 21, which will make them near-invincible beings on earth. Since the last time I checked the leaderboard, the highest level after me was a level 17 player.
That would leave sixteen summoning slots for disposable epic-rank demons.
Arthur’s spatial manipulation activated without conscious thought, reality folding around him as he teleported to Gates Corporation’s rooftop. The city spread below him, with demons, humans, and endless expansion opportunities.
Arthur had teleported to the rooftop for privacy, at the top of the skyscraper. Nobody could see his next actions that required privacy, as for helicopters, there were no helicopters nearby.
His talent had always carried some capabilities he’d never tested.
The ability to summon creatures he’d killed was well-established. But the companion ability of discarding existing summons remained an unexplored territory that Arthur did not delve into at all.
Arthur had avoided experimenting with discard functions for practical reasons. His current summons was strong and valuable enough for him not to bother with the function. He had always completed all his goals without the need for that function. More importantly, he’d never known if discarding carried hidden costs or side effects, hence he had avoided it.
But now I need to know.
In the current situation, he needed not just strength, but large numbers, to cover as many places as possible.
His eyes closed as his consciousness dove inward, piercing the veil between reality and the summoning space where his talent stored all the creatures he had killed throughout his journey.
Whether it was the level 2 corroded rabbit when he first entered Armageddon, or whether it was the latest kills on Earth. They were all there, waiting for his command to awaken and serve him, whether they liked it or not.
The summoning space.
Darkness enveloped his awareness.
It wasn’t necessarily the absence of light that created such darkness, but the presence of infinite possibility. Around him, the souls of every creature he’d slain waited in eternal suspension.
Hundreds of entities he had slain floated in the void. freёnovelkiss-com
Epic-rank demons, superior-rank demons—all reduced to potential souls awaiting his command before manifesting into their original form.
His consciousness reached toward a random epic-rank demon—a creature with four arms and burning eyes that he’d killed during his journey to Village #419.
Though he could have chosen a weaker creature to test his talent’s discard ability, Arthur opted against it. After all, the weakest summon he intended to call forth was an epic-ranked demon. Using a lesser beast wouldn’t reveal the true cost of discarding something of that calibre.
’I will choose this one,’ Arthur thought.
With the demon he wanted to summon chosen, Arthur said the word, despite not needing to.
"Awaken."
The summoning space responded to his will. The entity’s essence flowed through dimensional channels, manifesting in the physical world where his body waited.
Arthur’s eyes opened to find a dark portal materialising beside him. Shadows coalesced into physical form as the demon slowly emerged, he was eight feet of corrupted muscle and ancient malice.
Unlike the lesser demons that were coming out of the rifts, this one had reached adulthood.
[Summons: 22/42]
The summons number increased once he summoned the demon.
The demon’s burning gaze fixed on Arthur with loyalty etched in its eyes. It was no longer an enemy, but a servant that waited for orders.
"Master," it rumbled with loyalty.
Arthur studied his newest summons with detachment. Despite being his summon that would never betray him, Arthur didn’t have any emotional attachment to such creatures.
The only reason the demon was loyal to him was because of the talent, forcing them to. The demon would have ripped him to shreds had it been able to.
An argument could be made that Arthur’s other summons were also the same, having loyalty through the talent effects of Arthur. While that’s true, those summons weren’t demons, simply.
Time for the real experiment.
"Discard."
The word carried absolute authority.
[You are discarding your summon, Lesser Demon. Once discarded, the demon will no longer be available for summoning again.]
[Confirmation. Press Yes to continue with the discarding procedure, and no to cancel.] [Yes | No]
Arthur clicked on yes, and the effects began.
The demon’s massive form began dissolving immediately. It wasn’t being destroyed, but it was a systematic deconstruction as its essence returned to a place even Arthur didn’t know, or perhaps it completely vanished from existence.
Within seconds, nothing remained but displaced air where an epic-rank entity had stood.
[Summons: 21/42]
The counter next to his summons decreased once again, returning back to its original number, before Arthur had summoned the demon for the testing.
