Chapter 600: Chapter 506: The True God!_2

After this, the Dream God Laren gave it some thought and then bowed his head, personally stepping into the dreamscape.

The scene that Laren beheld was identical to what Nelson had seen; around him was the same grey and illusory fog.

However, unlike Nelson, after only a few steps, Laren sensed something abnormal.

"Is this dreamscape... endlessly extending?"

Laren exclaimed in astonishment.

Though the dreams of mortals appear infinitely vast, they are, after all, finite.

Yet the dreamscape before Laren was continuously extending, constantly generating new territories.

It was like an endless path, where no matter how far one traveled within it, the end could never be seen.

From a far distance, Xilan noticed the arrival of the Dream God Laren.

"As expected of the Dream God."

He was of course aware that for Nelson, fifty years had passed as he walked here.

But the same trick would hardly work on the Dream God Laren.

Not to mention Laren’s mastery over dreams, even if he himself could make Him stay for fifty years, such a period would be nothing but a fleeting moment for a nearly eternal Divine being.

Therefore, the Hermit did not delay further; he stopped the expansion of the dreamscape.

Not long after, the Dream God Laren arrived in front of Xilan, who had returned to the Mortal World.

The first thing He saw was Nelson, who looked utterly despondent.

The Dream God Laren was immediately taken aback, for He sensed what his representative had encountered within Xilan’s dreamscape.

With a sweep of His hand, Nelson flew over and landed beside Him.

Following that, the Dream God Laren scrutinized the man before Him, who bore the guise of a Hermit.

"It seems... I underestimated you."

The Dream God, worshiped endlessly on the ground, now found Himself having to take serious notice of a mortal.

The reason was nothing other than His representative, Nelson, a master of dream grace, being utterly powerless under Xilan’s manipulation.

"If you truly thought I was simple enough, then he wouldn’t have entered into my dreamscape,"

Xilan said, polite as ever.

The Dream God snorted coldly—Xilan’s words undoubtedly suggested that the responsibility was His, as a Divine being, since He sent Nelson to probe into Xilan’s secrets, and thus Nelson suffered such grievous harm.

"As a mortal, you show no respect for the Divine.

No wonder, since you are a True Believer, one of mankind created by the Gods, yet you have forsaken the Gods’ grace,"

the Dream God Laren said with an unfriendly tone.

It seemed that in His view, humans, being created by the Gods, should worship the Gods.

Xilan merely smiled,

"The Gods crafted people’s shells, but the soul is bestowed by the Lord, and faith often transcends the flesh, concerning the soul."

Xilan found the words of the Dream God to be laughable.

Actually, putting aside the seemingly reasonable but in fact deeply problematic statement that humans should worship the Gods just because they were created by them—after all, the souls given by the Gods do not discriminate between races—

The key point was, he was not human; he was originally an Elf, only now appearing in human guise. If he wished, he could at any moment transform into a Dwarf, Three-eyed Ape Man, Beastman, and so on. Currently, the Dream God before him seemed to have mistaken him for a human.

"Divine beings, I naturally respect you, but I do not worship you, just as I would respect those high and mighty Kings of the Mortal World, or other great figures, yet I do not treat them as indispensable as food,"

Xilan explained.

The Dream God was disdainful; the Xilan before Him was no different from all the True Believers He had encountered over the years.

Laren scoffed:

"You mortals, believing in the Father of the Gods, fancy yourselves equal to the Gods. Such arrogance."

Xilan’s demeanor was at peace, appearing utterly amiable as he spoke:

"In fact, I have been quite humble towards You. In this dreamscape, I am the master, You are the guest; you should understand this principle."

These words from Xilan suddenly provoked Laren’s wrath, as though the Dream God had never heard such a challenge before.

"I am Laren, the Divine being who wields control over the dreamscape; even your dreamscape must heed my command."

The Dream God stared intently at the mortal before Him,

"Enough, I need not waste more words with you. I saw you clearly before, so let me personally come."

As He spoke, Laren extended His hand, and a massive, invisible pressure rose from the dream, squeezing in on Xilan from all directions.

Xilan seemed unable to dodge in time, and was instantly immobilized by the invisible force, his dream consciousness oppressed, his figure trembling slightly, gradually becoming translucent.

"First, let me see what your purpose is for coming here."

Laren reached out with His fingertips, easily touching Xilan’s dream consciousness.

The scenery from all directions abruptly changed, as if revealing its deepest secrets to Laren without reservation.

Laren’s eyes shifted from black to white, from white to purple, the light of the dream swirling around Him. Moments later, His eyelids drooped, and He began to search for the visions at their deepest level.

The vision was ethereal and hazy.

Laren was not surprised; for both mortals and divine beings, the visions deep within the soul are always vague and indistinct.

Just as a person does not know every word they will say before speaking, they only know the general idea.

The Dream God Laren carefully analyzed the blurry vision before Him.

It was a world, a world fractured by ceaseless warfare, its land aflame.

Everywhere was a blanket of gray haze, as if overcast skies hung heavy, obscuring any hope.

This enigmatic hermit felt fear toward such a world, while also bearing an undeniable sense of mission.

As if he must use all his strength to refuse such a world.

"So, it turns out...

This man, is a wildly idealistic madman."

Laren sneered, continuing to delve into deeper layers of the vision.

He probed toward the depths of this vision.

"Let me see more details."

Just as His words fell.

Laren suddenly arrived at the deep part of the vision, where a hazy and indistinct gate awaited His push to open.

"Do not touch, it will harm You..."

Suddenly, Laren heard a voice.

The Dream God was slightly taken aback, then sneered:

"Unexpectedly, deep within this dream, you can still speak, attempting even to intimidate the divine.

Your control over the dream is nothing short of extraordinary.

Even my most powerful offspring cannot compare to you, it’s just a pity... you have encountered me."

Having said that, the Dream God extended His hand and gently pushed open the hazy and indistinct gate.

Then...

Boom!

The gate pushed open and a dazzling golden brilliance sprang forth before Laren, a brilliance detached from eternal time so bright it was unimaginable. At the moment the gate opened, it engulfed Laren, his entire field of vision a glaring white.

Laren stood frozen in place, reason, wisdom, memory, thought... all engulfed by the light, his mind nearly empty.

The guardian of dreams saw...

The true God!

"My father..."

When Laren murmured this, His consciousness began to gradually return.

Then, within Xilan’s dream, He began to tremble all over, falling to the ground and rolling, flames appearing on His body, encasing Him entirely, the scorching flames burning Him as if He were a condemned prisoner in a fire execution.

The thoughts of the Dream God Laren rotted and confounded like thick broth, His mind’s ideas ceaselessly colliding, constantly reacting, making Him seem like a crazed person, emitting an exhausted, heart-wrenching howl.

Rumble.

In the distant Celestial Kingdom, a rich purple Dream Star shuddered violently, the vast surface of the land began to collapse inward piece by piece, the grand Temple of Dreams instantly swallowed by giant fissures.

Nearby divine beings of the Dream Star gaped in astonishment at this horrible upheaval.
