Only God-Chapter 636 - 527: Why Does God Have to Sacrifice?
The townsfolk of the afterlife town had all dispersed.
Though the "deceased" could hardly believe this outcome, it had indeed occurred.
Their leader, Oren, had publicly confessed to his crimes, proclaiming to all who believed in him that he had deceived them.
It was an unprecedented blow. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
How desperately these "deceased" had wished for Oren to deny the words of the Netherworld Judge.
If that were the case, they would have united to defend Oren, to confront the Netherworld Judge.
But nothing had gone as they wished.
The "deceased" had placed all their hopes in Oren, even seeing him as part of themselves, only to end up with such a result.
If even such a defiant person as Oren could be brought down by the Netherworld Judge... what about them?
Reflecting on their lives, perhaps they should have stayed at the Sighing Plain?
The society that Oren and Veldor had organized thus disbanded, the united hearts of the people shattered, and the majority of the "deceased" returned to their original places, back to life in the Netherworld.
Veldor, in a panic, tried to retain the crowd, but few listened to him, the morale had collapsed, and the current situation was even worse than before the rebellion.
The rebellion had ended, and the afterlife town had returned to its original, rigid calm, the society now existed in name only.
"This is simply a farce..."
Back at his residence, Veldor clutched his head and groaned in agony.
He too was greatly shocked; the defenses of his mind, which he had thought impregnable, had also collapsed, and he, just like the others, couldn’t help but doubt himself.
The establishment of the society had been so grand, people had revered Oren as a divine being, and even he himself had unwittingly respected him, but it had ended in such a theatrical manner.
"Veldor, I told you long ago, you would never succeed."
Gomu had appeared before Veldor at some point,
"May you find solace from the Lord."
This blessing did not comfort Veldor; instead, it made the dwarf feel as though Gomu was rubbing salt in his wounds, but he had no retort and could only hold in his frustration.
After a while, Veldor exhaled a turbid breath,
"Are we really... dead?"
"Isn’t that obvious?"
Gomu replied.
"No... no... There must be some mistake, there has to be some mistake. We are True Believers, after we die, we shouldn’t go to the Netherworld, but to Heaven or Hell."
Veldor struggled to argue, he could never accept the "fact" that his death would lead him to the Netherworld.
"Eventually, you’ll end up there anyway, why the rush?"
Gomu shrugged.
Veldor didn’t know what to say; for a moment, he fell silent, Gomu’s words weren’t without reason.
It was time to give up...
In the end... one would go to Heaven or Hell, one just needed... to wait some time.

Above the Sea of Souls.
"How will Xilan quell this battle?"
The Fairy Queen Sofia couldn’t help asking,
"Can a mere mortal contend with the gods?"
Upon hearing Sofia’s words, Schiller asked:
"Are you curious?"
Sofia unashamedly replied:
"Of course, I’m curious.
I believe that no matter how much power a mortal gains, they are still just a mortal.
If you say a mortal has put a god at a disadvantage, there are examples in mythology, but to contend with hundreds of gods led by the Dream God... I can’t imagine what advantage he would have."
Sofia’s statement reached Schiller’s ears.
Then, the Fairy Queen looked towards her creator, as if seeking an answer from him.
However, she saw only Schiller shaking his head.
"I don’t know either."
Schiller spoke slowly,
"I only know that if he cannot fulfill his mission, then God will be disappointed."
Upon hearing this ambiguous response, Sofia stated directly,
"You seem to lack faith in Xilan too."
Schiller said coldly:
"Who would have faith in a mere mortal?
Personally, I prefer that Xilan fails his mission."
Sofia was taken aback, unable to believe that Schiller, a Great Angel, would say such a thing.
"Why would you say that?"
Schiller’s gaze fell upon the earth, not noticing Sofia’s expression, as he puffed on a cigarette, speaking steadily:
"You don’t know what I have seen.
I have watched the earliest of humankind deceive themselves, determinedly venturing into what they call the new world, even if it meant ascending, they fell into sin.
Sofia, I have thoroughly recognized the imperfection of mankind through this; they are full of flaws, and even if they strive to mend them, they may ultimately succumb to corruption.
And this type of corruption often masquerades in the name of justice, fairness, and truth, which is the most detestable."
At this point, Sofia couldn’t help but shiver.
The Fairy Queen knew that in Schiller’s eyes, she was also part of mankind.
And even with the passage of time, Schiller had never changed, the Great Angel still believed that mankind was exceedingly prone to corruption.
Watching the so cold and cruel Schiller, Sofia interrupted,
"Human beings are naturally imperfect, but if you say they are full of flaws... don’t say that...
Remember, God once sacrificed for these imperfect humans."
These words struck Schiller like a bolt of lightning, the Great Angel was momentarily taken aback, mouth slightly open, seemingly at a loss for words, he just stood there, stunned for a good while.
