Only I Level Up By Shoveling-Chapter 54: "Attack on Lizard"
The lizard bat turned into something indescribable and once the transformation stopped, the convulsing Lizard Bat was silent for a few seconds.
The next second, a fierce crimson light flashed in its reptile eyes.
"Kreeeee!!!"
The lizard, now three times bigger than before, shrieked to the cave’s ceiling before it lunged into the darkness, bolting in a certain direction.
It was heading towards the entrance of the dungeon where the last few examinees were walking around.
The last batch of the examinees were naturally the petite mage, the elf duo, Ray’s group and the twins.
The insect-sized magic orbs clearly broadcasted the whole scheme and the audience instantly went into an uproar. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝐰𝚎𝕓𝐧𝚘𝘃𝗲𝐥.𝐜𝚘𝕞
—Who are these villains??
—Damn it! Examiners! Someone is tampering with the exam!
—Are they from those sketchy gangs? What are they planning to do, ah??
At the same time, the petite mage was standing in front of a burning Lizard bat with a blob of light floating in the air.
She raised her staff and pointed the sharp bottom of the staff at the lizard—
STAB!
With a quick stab, the burning Lizard was pierced to death and was slowly burnt into a roasted meat.
When the petite mage was sure that the lizard was deader than dead, only then did the mage wipe her sweaty forehead while cursing,
"Why would anyone ask a mage to kill monsters?! Are all mages combat mages or something?"
A childish and girly voice came out of the petite mage’s mouth as she kicked the lizard’s corpse aside.
"Huh! Huh! Even a battle mage from the Azure Tower like me can’t possibly fight monsters like this!"
The Azure Tower, one of the mage’s four magic towers, was famous for being free-spirited, producing a lot of battle mages.
Many of them became adventurers instead of doing magic research.
Even so, the little fledgling from the Azure Tower felt that the Althea Academy was too much.
A mage should fight in a team, not doing solo!
The petite mage wondered whether there would be suitable partners ahead but when she had this little hope, a strange noise sounded not far from her place.
Slcckkk. Slckkk.
Huh? What’s that noise?
It sounded like scales rubbing against a wet rock...
The petite mage gripped her tall staff tighter as she chanted another 2nd circle spell— a mini wind barrier.
Her intuition as a part-time adventurer told her that something was wrong!
The wind barrier had just been erected when the slithering noise grew closer, followed by a rumbling noise of something breaking.
Crack! Crack!
Did the rock fall or something—
"KREEEEE!!"
A hideous monster the size of a wolf suddenly leapt out of the dark corner and opened its mouth wide at the petite mage, showing off its sharp teeth glinting under the mage’s dim light blob.
!!
"Ah!!"
The petite mage subconsciously took a step back, but the hideous thing had already crashed into her wind barrier.
BANG!
The wind barrier that was supposed to cut the enemy’s skin, was actually blown out by half and the magic almost disappeared completely.
!!!!
The petite mage’s face instantly turned pale.
N-no! What kind of thing is this?? T-this is not a D-rank monster!!
A D-rank monster would only be able to destroy the barrier after a few attacks, but this monster...
It destroyed half of her barrier with just one hit!
The petite mage almost fainted on the spot but she quickly used her remaining mana to chant a spell.
"O, flame, burn your enemy!"
A magic circle appeared in the air and a fist-sized fire ball immediately flew out of the magic circle.
Boosted by the remaining wind barrier, the fire ball hit the monster with precision.
Bang!
The moment the flame touched the monster, it immediately devoured the monster from head to toe.
"Kreeee!!!"
The monster screamed in pain, but the flame only burnt its outer skin a little, not even giving considerable damage.
Seeing this, the petite mage didn’t hesitate to turn around and ran in the opposite direction of the monster as fast as she could.
Run! Run! Run!
That monster is definitely not a D-rank Lizard Bat!!
The monster saw its prey running away and it immediately chased after the petite mage while its whole body was still burning.
"Kreeee!!!"
It opened its mouth wide and actually spewed out dark orbs from its mouth towards the petite mage.
! Dark cannon ball or whatever!!
"Ahhhhh!!!"
The petite mage dodged the dark cannon ball attack and unknowingly ran towards the entrance of the cave, not far from the unlucky elf duo.

With the help of the elf ancestor, the elf prince killed quite a lot of Lizard Bat that were still hiding in the cave, yet he still complained in a sour tone.
"@&@&#&@&! (There is too little prey!)"
It must be those early bird examinees who have already killed a lot of Lizard Bats, leaving only a few for the late-comer examinees.
"Descendant, as long as we run deeper into the cave, we will find more prey— "
"Ahhhh! Help!!"
"KREEEE!!!"
Two different voices echoed from the dark tunnel in front of the elves.
The two elves’ pointed ears twitched and they immediately stared at the darkness with solemn faces.
"Descendant, there might be people and monsters ahead!"
"@&@&@&! (Let’s grab the monster!)"
As for the examinee? The elf prince didn’t care.
Unfortunately or fortunately, before the elf prince could even see the monster and the examinee in front, Castra and the others had already caught up from behind.
"Huh? That blue light...a spirit?" Castra stopped three meters behind the duo and whispered to his summoner,
"Dear summoner~ Are they the elf duo?"
"I-I think so."
Castra immediately clenched his fists excitedly.
"Dear summoner, we should tail behind them and steal their prey before they kill it!"
Lady Fera snickered at Castra’s words and gave him a thumb up.
"Fufufu, what an insidious trick. This lady approves!"
"Uh, mister, isn’t that bad— "
"Ahhhh— helpppp— "
"KREEE!!!"
"...huh? Dear summoner, what did you say? Some weird noises get mixed up— "
Castra squinted his eyes to see the dark tunnel in front of him but before he could see what was inside the tunnel, the pebble on the ground started to shake lightly.
The next second, the cave’s ceiling, wall and even the ground started to wriggle, as if they came alive!
BOOOM!!!
