Oops Alpha, Wrong Luna-Chapter 25
Chapter 25: Chapter 25
Kael’s POV.
My hand tightened around Thanos’s neck, my fingers digging into his skin as I yanked him from behind the throne chamber door.
His eyes bulged, wide with shock, his face turning red as he gasped for air.
My wolf, Zeus, growled low, his anger burning through me, my heart pounding like a hammer.
"What do you want?" I snarled, my voice low, dangerous, my eyes boring into his.
"Why were you eavesdropping?" The air was thick, the stone walls of the chamber cold, but my blood ran hot, suspicion clawing at my gut.
Thanos had lied about Celeste, calling her Aria, thinking I didn’t know the truth about my Luna.
I knew she was Aria, not Celeste, hiding behind her sister’s name, and I was playing along, waiting for her to trust me with the truth. I wasn’t sure if he knew though. But he should seeing he was closer to them than ever.
Thanos? He was hiding something, and I wasn’t letting him slip away.
Thanos choked, his hands clawing at mine, his voice shaky. "I... I forgot my pen," he stammered, his face redder, his eyes darting to the floor.
"I came back for it. I wasn’t listening, I swear." His words were quick, too quick, and his lie hung in the air like smoke.
I could smell his fear, see the sweat on his brow, the way his hands trembled. He was lying, and I knew it.
My grip tightened for a second, Zeus urging me to snap his neck, to end the threat. But I held back, my jaw clenched, my eyes narrowing.
"A pen?" I said, my voice cold, mocking. I loosened my grip, shoving him back.
"Fine. Take it and go." I stepped aside, my arms crossed, watching him like a hawk. Thanos stumbled, rubbing his neck, his eyes flicking to a table in the corner.
He grabbed a pen; small, silver, nothing special and held it up, his smile forced.
"See? Just my pen," he said, his voice shaking, his eyes avoiding mine.
He turned to leave, his steps quick, his shoulders hunched like he couldn’t get away fast enough.
I watched him go, my fists clenched, my heart still pounding. The door clicked shut, but I didn’t move, my senses sharp.
I waited, listening for his footsteps to fade, making sure he was gone. Zeus growled, restless, sensing danger.
Thanos was up to something, and I wasn’t letting him fool me again.
Brian stood behind me, his brown eyes wide, his face tense.
"Alpha, you okay?" he asked, his voice low, his hands fidgeting. He’d seen the whole thing, felt my anger, and I could tell he was worried.
I shook my head, my jaw tight. "Thanos is trouble," I said, my voice hard.
"He’s up to something bad. I can feel it." My gut twisted, suspicion burning.
Thanos had brought Celeste here, lied about her being Aria, and now he was sneaking around, listening to my private talk with Brian.
Was he part of the fire? Did he know about Nicholas, about the locked door that nearly killed us? Or the thorn family?
Brian frowned, his eyes narrowing. "Why do you think that?" he asked, stepping closer, his voice cautious.
I pointed to the door, my voice low, sharp. "That pen he took? It’s not his. I’ve seen it before, on Elder Marcus’s desk. Thanos lied." My words hung heavy, my anger rising.
He thought he could play me, but I was watching, waiting for him to slip up again.
Brian nodded, his face serious. "I’ll look into him," he said, his voice firm.
"I’ll find out what he’s hiding." He straightened, ready to move, but I held up a hand, stopping him.
"Let’s finish our talk first," I said, my voice rough, sitting back on the throne. The chamber felt colder now, the air thick with secrets.
"What else did you find? About the fire?" My heart pounded, my mind racing. The fire at the Fang Pack, the locked door, Aria’s scared eyes—it all haunted me, and I needed answers.
Brian took a breath, his eyes dark. "Word is, a guard from the Fang Pack started the fire," he said, his voice low, careful.
"But he’s gone. Missing. No one’s seen him since the night it happened."
My eyes widened, shock hitting me like a punch. "Missing?" I said, my voice sharp, leaning forward.
"A guard starts a fire that almost kills us, and now he’s gone?" My blood boiled, Zeus snarling, ready to hunt. It wasn’t an accident; someone wanted us dead.
Nicholas? Thanos? Celeste? Or all of them? My chest tightened, anger and worry mixing. Aria had been in that fire, her life at risk, and I’d barely gotten her out.
"Find him," I said, my voice hard, my eyes burning into Brian’s.
"Get me that guard. I want answers." Brian nodded, bowing low, his face set.
He turned to leave, his steps quick, the door shutting behind him.
I sat there, my hands gripping the throne’s arms, my heart heavy. The chamber was quiet, but my mind was loud, spinning with questions.
Thanos’s lie, the missing guard, Celeste’s threat to make me hate Aria; it was all connected, a web closing in around us.
I knew Aria was my Luna, my mate, and I’d protect her, no matter what. She didn’t know I knew her secret, didn’t know I was waiting for her to open up, and I’d keep it that way until she was ready.
But the danger was real, and I wasn’t letting anyone hurt her.
I stood, my boots heavy on the stone floor, and left the chamber, my mind set on Aria. I needed to see her, to know she was safe.
The packhouse halls were quiet, the morning light soft through the windows, but the air felt heavy, like a storm was coming.
My arm throbbed, the bruise from the fire still dark, but I ignored it, my steps quick as I headed to our room.
I pushed the door open, my heart slowing as my eyes landed on her. Aria was asleep, curled up on the bed, her silver hair spilling across the pillow, her face soft but pale.
The sight of her, so small, so fragile, hit me hard. I closed the door, my steps quiet, and sank into a chair beside the bed, my eyes never leaving her.
She was my mate, my Luna, and she’d been through hell; her family, her sister, her whole life tearing her down.
Brian’s words echoed in my mind, his voice heavy as he told me about her past. Her mother, Celeste, they’d hurt her, called her weak, an Omega, made her feel like nothing.
My chest ached, a sad smile tugging at my lips as I watched her sleep, her breath slow, her hands tucked under her cheek.
I leaned forward, my hand gentle as I caressed her hair, the strands soft under my fingers. "They made you go through so much," I mumbled, my voice low, my heart heavy.
"I won’t let it happen again, mate." The words were a promise, my wolf quiet but firm, his protectiveness matching mine.
Aria didn’t stir, her face calm, but I felt the weight of her pain, her fear, her secrets. freēwēbηovel.c૦m
I’d keep her safe, from Celeste, from Thanos, from whoever started that fire.
No one would hurt her again, not while I was her Alpha.
