Oopss... I Married My Boss-Chapter 71: The Man in Bianca’s Room
"She just finished surgery and has been moved to a private room. Fourth floor, VIP section, sir," the staff explained, causing Adrian to rush away from the desk as soon as he learned where Bianca was.
In a hurry, Adrian got into the elevator and went up to the fourth floor.
When he arrived, Adrian went straight to a staff member at the VIP front desk.
"I heard my wife is here. Bianca Williams. Please check if she’s admitted or not," he said to a staff member and a nurse who had been chatting before he approached them.
"Please wait a moment, sir. I’ll check," the staff replied, typing on the monitor. A second later, he nodded. "Your wife is in room 402, sir."
"Thank you," Adrian replied hastily before quickly heading off to find the room.
In his panic, he didn’t stop to think or even question how Bianca had already been placed in a VIP room without him upgrading her.
Meanwhile, inside Bianca’s room, Tristan sat in silence beside her bed. He watched her carefully. If not for her pale face and the bandage wrapped around her head, she would’ve looked as if she was simply sleeping peacefully.
The sound of the door opening pulled his attention away. He turned, expecting a doctor or nurse, but instead saw a tall man in a navy-blue suit, with an aura that was impossible to ignore.
Tristan frowned. "Who are you?" he asked.
Adrian’s expression darkened at the question, but he didn’t bother replying. With long strides, he walked straight to Bianca’s bedside, his gaze fixed entirely on her fragile form.
The moment he saw her condition up close, Adrian’s chest tightened, his heart shattering at the sight. He froze for a moment, taking in her fragile state, before reaching out with trembling fingers and caressed her face with aching tenderness.
"Baby... what happened? How could this happen to you?" he whispered.
"I asked you, who are you?" Tristan repeated coldly, irritated at being ignored by Adrian.
Adrian clenched his jaw and glared at Tristan sharply, annoyed with the question that should have been his, not Tristan’s.
"I should be the one asking—who are you? What are you doing in my wife’s room?" Adrian snapped, clearly annoyed by the stranger’s presence in Bianca’s room.
Tristan frowned when Adrian mentioned his relationship status with Bianca. He didn’t expect Bianca to already be married. For some reason, his heart felt a little uncomfortable about it.
Trying to control his emotions and expression, Tristan replied to Adrian, "I’m sorry, I didn’t know she was your wife." He rubbed his temple with one hand before continuing, "I’m Tristan. Before the accident, I tried to save your wife, but I was a little too late. I’m sorry." He then turned his eyes to Bianca.
Adrian’s suspicion eased after hearing his explanation. "No. I’m sorry for snapping at you earlier. Thank you for trying to save my wife," Adrian said sincerely.
"Of course," Tristan answered briefly. If it wasn’t for Bianca’s back looking so much like someone he missed, he wouldn’t have chased her out of the store. But now, imagining if he hadn’t followed her, he didn’t know what would have happened to her if he hadn’t pulled her away.
While Adrian and Tristan were talking, the door to Bianca’s room suddenly opened again. This time, a middle-aged man in a doctor’s uniform walked in.
As Adrian saw the doctor coming toward them, still half-crazed with worry about Bianca’s condition, he immediately asked, "Doctor, how’s my wife? Is she okay? And what about our baby? Is her pregnancy safe?"
Tristan froze the moment he heard Adrian’s words. His eyes darted to Bianca’s stomach—still perfectly flat.
The doctor looked at Adrian and replied, "Your wife’s condition needs to be closely monitored. It seems she has suffered a brain injury. We’ll keep her under observation until she regains consciousness. As for the baby, the good news is there’s no harm."
Adrian felt like the air had been ripped out of his lungs at those words. Brain injury. The thought alone made his chest tighten painfully. "But my wife... she’s going to be alright, isn’t she, doctor?" he asked, his voice almost breaking, desperate for reassurance.
"As I mentioned earlier, sir, we still need to observe your wife’s condition. She has a good chance of recovering."
The doctor’s answer eased Adrian’s heart a little. After speaking with him about Bianca, the doctor excused himself and left the room.
Seeing Adrian already at Bianca’s side, Tristan decided it was time for him to go. As much as he wanted to stay longer, he knew Bianca wasn’t his. She was married. And the person he longed for wasn’t even Bianca—only the familiar glimpse of her back that reminded him of someone else.
Tristan rose from his chair and said quietly, "Since you’re here, I should leave."
"Thank you for everything," Adrian replied, his hand tightening around Bianca’s.
Before Tristan walked out, he glanced at Bianca, then hesitated. Turning to Adrian, he asked, "May I visit your wife again? Just until she wakes up." His chest felt tight at the thought of leaving without seeing Bianca regain consciousness.
Adrian studied him for a moment, then let out a breath. Tristan’s eyes on Bianca held nothing more than simple concern. "Of course. You can visit her."
"Thank you. I’ll go now," Tristan said with a small nod.
Adrian nodded back in return.
Tristan lingered for a second, his gaze heavy on Bianca, before finally turning to leave.
After Tristan left, Adrian took out his phone and called his father, wanting to inform him about Bianca’s condition.
His father picked up on the fifth ring. "Adrian. Why are you calling me?"
"Dad, Bianca had an accident," Adrian said straight away.
"What? An accident? How could that happen? Is she all right?" Dean’s voice sounded shocked by the news.
"She just finished surgery because of internal bleeding. The doctor said she suffered a brain injury. She’s still unconscious," Adrian explained, his voice slightly unsteady.
"Oh God... Tell me which hospital. I’m coming right away." Dean asked quickly, already getting ready to head to the hospital to see Bianca.
Adrian told him the name of the hospital, and Dean said he and Sean, Adrian’s grandfather, would be heading to the hospital right away to see Bianca. 𝙛𝒓𝓮𝙚𝔀𝒆𝒃𝓷𝒐𝓿𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝒐𝒎
