Our Love Story: Hard to Guard Against the Sudden Love Strike-Chapter 429 - 408: Kiss First, Talk Later
Simon Forrester and Sienna Thornton’s engagement is settled. Old Master Forrester starts looking for a good date, planning to hold the wedding for the two kids sometime around next spring.
Meanwhile, Harrison Rowe finds a house for them, a three-bedroom in The Springs Residences, less than a kilometer away from Fenmore Hill. The previous owner renovated it beautifully but then suddenly moved abroad, saving them the trouble of decorating.
One weekend at the end of June, Simon Forrester takes Sienna Thornton to the apartment to see if anything needs to be added or removed.
The house is decorated in a refined Chinese style, with all eco-friendly, non-polluting materials, and all the furniture is made of pure wood, giving it a simple and refreshing design.
After a tour, Sienna Thornton is quite satisfied, asking Harrison Rowe to arrange for the tiles in Melinda Linton’s bathroom to be made rougher and non-slip, install handrails for elderly use in the bathroom, add a large rack on the balcony for airing quilts, and place a chaise lounge in Melinda Linton’s bedroom for her to rest on.
Harrison Rowe notes down everything.
A week later, everything planned has been installed, and the house has been cleaned. Harrison Rowe arranges for someone to help Melinda Linton move.
The day before, Sienna Thornton had already gone over. Initially planning to help Melinda Linton pack clothes and daily necessities, she finds that Auntie King has already taken care of most of it, leaving her to only pack some personal items she had left there.
The new house has three bedrooms, and Sienna Thornton originally planned for Auntie King to have her own room. However, Auntie King expressed she wanted to continue sharing a room with Melinda Linton. In the end, Melinda Linton insisted on having her own room, so Auntie King moved into the guest room next to Melinda Linton’s.
Seeing Melinda Linton’s firm attitude, Simon Forrester became a little more vigilant.
.
That night, Sienna Thornton and Simon Forrester stayed in the new house with Melinda Linton. Sienna Thornton plans to take a day off the next day to drive Auntie King and Melinda Linton around the area to familiarize them with the way to the market and the mall.
While lying in bed, Simon Forrester suddenly asks in a low voice, "Did Thornton come to see Auntie and stay overnight?"
Sienna Thornton was checking navigation routes on her phone at that moment. Hearing Simon Forrester’s question, she didn’t react for a moment. When she realized what he was implying, she pushed him in shock, seriously saying, "Don’t say such things! They wouldn’t do that! If something like that happened, what would that make my mom?"
Simon Forrester pondered, "I noticed Auntie was very insistent today about not letting the caregiver sleep in the same room. I thought maybe..."
"Stop saying nonsense!" Sienna Thornton emphasized again, "My mom is a good person. She understands that Auntie King needs her own space, that’s why she said that! Don’t overthink it!"
Simon Forrester murmured an "oh," didn’t say anything further, and then got up to go to the bathroom.
A while later, Sienna Thornton felt him return to the bed. She thought he was about to sleep and wanted to ask if the change of bed would make him uncomfortable, but before she could speak, he gently took the phone from her hand.
He gave her a kiss.
She softly exclaimed, "It’s not convenient here," and tried to push him a few times but didn’t succeed...
.
The Springs Residences where Melinda Linton lives is similar to The Fenmore Villa, both located near the forest park, with good air and environment, but the downside is there aren’t many people around.
Early in the morning, Sienna Thornton drove Melinda Linton and Auntie King to the nearest market and mall. Even though they are the closest, it still took nearly an hour by car for the round trip. If they were to take the bus, it would be even longer, raising her concern about how Auntie King would handle grocery shopping alone in the future.
When she mentioned her worry to Simon Forrester, he suggested, "Why don’t we buy a car and hire a driver? That way, Auntie can easily go out whenever she needs."
Her immediate reaction was to think Simon Forrester was going to spend money lavishly again, but after some thought, what other choice did they have? They couldn’t possibly let an elderly woman, whose health is poor enough to collapse at any moment, and a fifty-something-year-old Auntie take the bus or hail a cab together, right? Given Melinda Linton’s current health, even walking from the residence to the main road to catch a cab is challenging.
Sienna Thornton agreed, and Simon Forrester immediately instructed Harrison Rowe to order a car that day, arranging for the most experienced company driver from The Forresters to drive for Melinda Linton once they got the car.
Harrison Rowe was supposed to have ordered an available car, as that week’s Friday afternoon, the driver arrived with it, a white BMW 5 series.
In the evening, Sienna Thornton and Simon Forrester were downstairs inspecting the new car when a black Audi suddenly pulled up near them.
Lowering the window, Quentin Thorne greeted them with a smile, "Annie, Rex?"
Sienna Thornton jogged over, "Dad, you’re here? Was the place easy to find?"
"Easy! I used the coordinates you sent me and turned on the navigation!"
Sienna Thornton pointed to a parking space not far away, "Our parking spot is over there, you can park your car first and then come over."
Quentin Thorne responded with a "Got it," happily drove the car over, and parked it.
Sienna Thornton returned to Simon Forrester to review the new car. After playing around in the driver’s seat for a while, she leaned out of the window to ask Simon, who was standing outside, "How much do you think this car costs?"
Since Harrison Rowe, who handled the paperwork, wasn’t there, Simon Forrester turned to ask the driver standing nearby, "Chandler, how much does this car cost on-road?"
Before Chandler could answer, Sienna Thornton questioned teasingly, "Aren’t men supposed to be into cars? How do you not know how much this car costs?"
Simon Forrester leaned against the driver’s side window, looking at Sienna inside the car, and with a proud smile said, "Since I got my driver’s license at eighteen, I haven’t driven any car under a million, so how would I know the price of this one?"
Sienna Thornton retorted, "What do you mean you haven’t driven? Haven’t you driven my Volvo that cost more than 200,000 before?"
Simon Forrester was speechless, while Chandler, who was amused by their banter, commented, "Chairman Forrester, this car’s on-road price is around 500,000." 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Upon hearing this, Sienna Thornton quickly got out of the car, clinging to Simon Forrester’s arm.
Wearing flat slippers, she was a head shorter than Simon Forrester. As she clung to his arm, she looked up sweetly, "Can I drive this car?"
At that moment, the sky was painted with fiery clouds, casting a warm orange glow on Sienna’s upturned face, making her skin appear even more tender and inviting.
Moreover, her warm little hands rubbed against Simon Forrester’s arm, which had its sleeves rolled up, the girl’s natural warmth seeping straight through his pores into his bloodstream, rushing directly to his heart.
With darkening eyes, he whispered, "Kiss me first, then we’ll see."
Sienna Thornton momentarily forgot the driver was still on the other side of the car. Rising on her toes, she gave Simon a quick peck on the cheek.
Driver Chandler watched all this unfold, caught off guard by the affectionate display, thinking to himself how unexpected it was to witness this side of young Mr. Forrester, who is known for being serious and aloof.
