Out of Control: Into Your Everything-Chapter 170: Accidents Always Happen in an Instant
Julian Ford didn’t say where they were going, but he still took Scarlett Shaw out the door.
Scarlett Shaw was surprised; although Julian usually had many cars, he typically favored business vehicles. Yet today, he drove a sports car.
The car headed to the foot of a mountain on the outskirts of Capitoline.
The asphalt road stretched like a long white snake, winding through the forest to the distance.
Even within the city, Julian’s driving was noticeably faster than usual; here, he became even more reckless.
Nevertheless, considering Scarlett’s feelings, Julian pressed the accelerator at the foot of the mountain and said to her, "If you’re scared, there’s a café nearby where you can wait for me."
Scarlett tightened her grip on the seatbelt, "I’m not scared."
Julian glanced at her indifferently, "Your face is all pale, yet you’re not scared?"
Scarlett retorted defiantly, "A pale face is a normal physical reaction to high speed. Last time, when I rode with Jasper Spencer in Bryland, I wasn’t scared at all."
"Oh, really."
Julian’s attractive lips drew into a smile with a vague meaning.
"You seem to really cherish the experience of riding in his car."
Scarlett: "..."
Cars whizzed by occasionally on the winding mountain road, their speed astonishing. Scarlett realized that this was a place frequented by racing enthusiasts, and from Julian’s familiarity, it was clear he wasn’t here for the first time.
Racing, as an extreme sport, was indeed a very effective method for venting emotions.
Scarlett had only watched Julian race from afar once during that visit to Bryland, as a spectator standing far away.
Although she couldn’t see him then, her gaze was irresistibly drawn to him.
Now that he was right beside her, even though it wasn’t a professional track, her heart surged not only with fear but also with a thrilling anticipation.
As Julian pressed the accelerator once again, an engine roared nearby, gradually approaching as a red sports car flashed by like lightning. Julian noted the license plate and accelerated to catch up. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞
The speed was intense.
Light rain drifted in the mountains, prompting Julian to retract the convertible top. Sporadic raindrops fell onto the skin, seeping in with a chill.
Scarlett turned her head to see Julian’s angular and perfect profile reflected in her eyes.
Normally, he would have noticed her gaze, but now he was focused, a shadow hidden in the depths of his eyes that Scarlett had never seen before.
Scarlett’s heart suddenly pounded heavily.
Before she could analyze the source of this vague unease, Julian calmly spoke, "Your breath tells me you want to escape."
As he finished, the car swiftly maneuvered through a bend, with a steep cliff on the side.
Scarlett bit her lip, "You’re not quite yourself today."
Raindrops hit her face, carrying icy stings.
Julian, unconcerned, said, "So today, I make you feel annoyed and want to leave, don’t I?"
"I don’t feel annoyed and there’s no desire to leave."
Scarlett’s clear and pure voice was somewhat disheveled by the wind.
But each word still reached Julian’s ears.
"I’m just happy to understand you a bit more."
Julian didn’t respond.
But the car accelerated sharply again, overtaking the red sports car from earlier.
Julian seemed to know the driver of that red sports car, as the two vehicles chased each other. Scarlett was puzzled initially but soon recognized the familiar sight, realizing that the person in the car was most likely Jasper Spencer.
Scarlett’s guess was accurate.
Jasper Spencer had been overwhelmed by family matters recently, dealing daily with a bunch of trivial issues. Moreover, having not driven for a long time due to a hand injury, he was itching to race, seizing the opportunity to sneak out.
Unexpectedly, he ran into Julian.
More surprising to Jasper was that Julian had brought Scarlett along.
Though Jasper had no doubts about Julian’s racing skills, he knew too well Julian’s demeanor while racing. If he went wild, Jasper wouldn’t be surprised if he drove off the cliff!
Was this reckless man trying to get Scarlett killed along with him?
Considering Liam’s matter, Scarlett being in Julian’s car, and the rain, Jasper didn’t deliberately collide with Julian’s car like before at the race track.
He only occasionally overtook and changed lanes for simple warnings.
Jasper kept a close eye on Julian’s car. Perhaps mindful of Scarlett’s safety, Julian maneuvered smoothly despite the high speed.
Jasper gradually eased his concerns.
He couldn’t help but feel he’d overthought today; Julian didn’t value his own life, but Scarlett’s was precious to him.
When Scarlett got cut on her wrist by Liam, Julian beat him up so severely he was unrecognizable even to his own mother. If Scarlett faced any danger in Julian’s car, Jasper couldn’t imagine the lengths Julian might go.
Yet, accidents happened in an instant.
One moment, Jasper felt at ease. The next, he noticed Julian’s car tail swinging unnaturally.
There was a curve ahead, yet no sign of turning.
The sports car sped toward the edge of the cliff.
Though this part of the road was near the foot of the mountain, falling from this height wasn’t necessarily a death sentence!
Jasper reacted quickly to honk and flash his lights.
Feeling anxious.
Not sure if his warning helped or if something happened inside Julian’s car, in a flash, Julian’s car suddenly swerved, avoiding the cliff edge, and crashed into the hillside.
Jasper rushed out of his car, taking a step as Julian came down from the driver’s seat, bleeding from his arm, his expression grim as he ran to the passenger seat.
The front windshield of Julian’s sports car was shattered.
Although the airbags deployed, the sudden swerve inevitably led to a violent impact.
Scarlett was carried out in Julian’s arms.
She was conscious, but unfortunately, her wrist that had been injured by Liam was once again cut by the broken glass.
But in comparison, the bleeding on Julian’s arm was evidently more severe.
Scarlett jumped out of Julian’s embrace, her eyes red, trying to check his arm injury, but he avoided her.
Julian glanced at the approaching Jasper, "Take us to the hospital."
Jasper nodded with a complex expression.
Jasper’s car had some temporary spare bandages and iodine. Julian simply treated Scarlett’s wound, while the blood on his arm had dried. Scarlett tried to grab the iodine to apply medication to him but was dodged a second time.
"I’m fine."
Julian said calmly and aloofly.
Scarlett was trembling all over, her almond eyes filled with bloodshot, staring at him intensely.
