Overlord Tamer: All My Pet Monsters Have God Potential-Chapter 168: Breakthrough Time
Chapter 168: Breakthrough Time
After selecting Rexion’s evolution and putting him in Monster Paradise, John took Levi and the other monsters to fight in the wilderness.
Azelis flew around in the sky, acting as a scout to guide John to places filled with monsters.
Before his monsters evolved and ranked up to King-rank, John also wanted to break through to King-rank.
He had reached the peak of Gold in physical stats by eating fruits, but to increase his Soul power, he needed to absorb soul cores of Gold-rank monsters, which he began doing while practicing his Geno Abilities and Soul Techniques.
He also learned a new Soul Technique after searching for a good one related to his Blood and Metal mastery.
At Gold-rank, he could have three Soul Techniques, and since he was going to break through to King-rank soon, he could have one more.
So ultimately, he still had space and didn’t remove the Blood Alloy Sculpture.
Naturally, for the gun, he was using the growth-type treasure he got from the Duraian family.
He had molded it into a gun having all four attributes — Space, Gravity, Blood, and Metal, so as long as he utilized his mastery of those attributes to design the exotic bullets, he could shoot them from the gun at higher scalability.
At the moment, he had already upgraded the gun, which he had named—Overlord Pistol, to Gold-rank by feeding it resources.
And the higher the rank of the gun, the stronger the scalability of the bullets would get, making them more powerful at the same cost of soul energy.
As for the new soul technique he learned, it was called Red Carnage Threads — Metal / Blood — Difficulty: ☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆☆.
Using Red Carnage Threads, he could unleash esoterically produced threads of Blood and Metal attributes with ultra toughness, piercing, and severing power. Additionally, the threads could absorb vitality from living beings.
As for what it could do more? That was up to John’s development of this soul technique.
Aside from that, he practiced his Geno Abilities.
So far, he could only train in two Geno Abilities of his Monster Geno Art, on which he had gained basic mastery—
1. Nihirius Eclipse Bloom: Zero-mass petals that can travel to any gravitational point by the user instantly within the gravity mastery control range of user, and producing tremendous kinetic force in a short time to create potent explosion, collapsing space and developing an instant of gravity bomb within a compact area around the petal, dealing constructive damage.
2. Paradox Cloak: A cloak appears around the user to create a spatial layer, allowing all projectiles to pass through and be transported away once it touches the cloak. While the cloak is active, the user also cannot be targeted by others’ soul eyes for target-based direct abilities.
Since John already had a super movement-type power in the form of his Soul Technique — Starlight Rider, he chose other types for his Geno Abilities.
Nihirius Eclipse Bloom was a pure offensive ability to cause constructive damage that ignores external defenses of the target, meaning that the only way to survive was by somehow strengthening one’s own body via some buff, as armors and other items would be useless against it.
John could one-shot any Gold-rank Monster with it and his other powers, so he didn’t bother fighting Gold-rank Monsters at all.
Paradox Cloak was a pure defensive ability, rendering everything coming at him useless.
Naturally, the cost of these Geno abilities was high, so he couldn’t just spam them.
Still, John fought King-rank Monsters, mostly early and mid-stage ones, but he also managed to hunt peak King-rank Monsters, and found out he was crazy strong, especially because of his Voidspace and Gravitalon attributes.
Lower stats? Didn’t matter.
With his space and gravity mastery, he could become faster than King-rank monsters.
With his Overlord Pistole and exotic bullets, he could trap, snare, and annoy the hell out of even King-rank Monsters before finishing them off.
Two petals of the Nihirius Eclipse Bloom could instantly kill an early-stage King-rank Monster.
After all, his Space and Gravity were not basic; they were variant.
Voidspace was literally so powerful that he could now ignore all obstacles and everything in space. Most importantly, Voidspace automatically added a disastrous aspect to his spatial applications and powers that use the Space attribute—
Null-Directionality: Movement is detached from conventional axes. He can drift in directions that don’t technically exist or reverse spatial logic.
In short, all of his projectile that uses Space can shoot at the speed of light, which automatically made his Nihirius Eclipse Bloom powerful because even at short distances, if the petal traveled at the speed of light, it could gather an insane amount of kinetic force.
Of course, John didn’t dare to try shooting himself at the speed of light because he would instantly die...
This attribute was scary enough that he could accidentally get himself skilled if he experimented without care, so Chuthulos had told him to rein in his Mad Scientist urges.
As for the Gravitalon attribute, it added an aspect of physicality to his gravity.
He could literally shape his gravity and apply the kind of gravity force he desired on it, which, again, made all of his projectiles instantly more powerful.
These two scary variant attributes of Space and Gravity were the reason that just two Petals costing merely 100 soul energy each were enough to kill a King-rank Monster who didn’t use any skills to defend itself.
Moreover, he was still at level 2 mastery in those two attributes, so he needed to reach a higher level to gain better control of those advanced powers.
...
The peak King-rank mutated bear-dragon hybrid roared and struck the ground, vines of plague erupting beneath John’s feet.
He didn’t dodge.
Paradox Cloak flickered into being, draping his form in a translucent shimmer. The vines passed through his body like mist. The Ursagron snarled and leapt, maw wide, corrupted blood boiling in its throat.
John let it come.
Then, he fired—two tiny metallic glints shot out from the Overlord Pistol, wrapped in both Voidspace curvature and Gravitalon tension.
The first bullet struck the creature’s jaw and reversed its inertia—snapping the head backward mid-air. Before it landed, the second bullet crashed into its shadow, pinning it down with a crushing gravitational mass shaped like a spike.
It couldn’t rise.
From John’s palm, scarlet metallic threads unraveled into the wind—Red Carnage Threads.
They shot forward in the shape of a net. They wrapped around the beast’s body before it could bellow again—sinking into bone, muscle, and soul alike. It thrashed once.
Then it bled from everywhere.
John watched as the vitality drained through the threads and into his hand.
Next, John challenged another peak King-rank Monster.
Stormthorn Thunder Skyfiend – peak King-rank Monster.
It was fast. Lightning fast. The sky cracked as it dove, a blur of sapphire thorns and razor-edged feathers aimed straight at John.
He blinked forward—Voidspace folded.
He wasn’t there anymore.
The beast flew past. Its wing clipped an afterimage, which fractured like a glass reflection. The beast faltered, confused for a moment.
That was enough.
John turned, aimed low, and whispered:
"Two blooms."
Two petals drifted into being in front of him, lighter than air, yet heavier than thought.
They disappeared instantly.
Boom. Boom.
The first petal collided with the Skyfiend’s core from above, snapping its speed and spine in one instant, creating a hole.
The beast’s vitality was tough, as it had an Innate Talent making it convert lightning and thunder into vitality.
But it wasn’t enough.
The second petal hit its tail, causing a delayed chain-collapse of internal bones as if the beast was unraveling mid-flight.
It tried to flap its wings—but the sky didn’t obey it anymore as John’s Gravitalon showed its power, stripping the beast of its freedom.
It crashed down in silence as the world was muffled by the void pressure left in the petals’ wake.
...
As the day came to an end with the sun almost setting, John, Azelis, and Jibril gathered at the empty ground with other Monsters.
John initiated the evolution and rank of everyone before he looked at his status.
"Well, it’s time for me to break through, too."

"I know you two will succeed in breaking through, but still be careful. For us, breaking through to King-rank is the major hurdle, and failing will hurt the souls," Azelis said as she looked at the two.
"I am a bit nervous." Jibril wryly smiled. "If I fail, I’ll fall behind, so I really don’t want to fail."
Still, her eyes held intense desire and resolve as she spoke.
"You won’t fail," John said with a chuckle. "Believe in yourself."
"Mhmm." Jibril nodded and closed her eyes, beginning her breakthrough to King-rank as she absorbed pure Spirit Energy from the pile of King Essence Coins.
John also closed his eyes and began.
To break through from Gold-rank to King-rank, the Soul Pond that Gold-rank Tamers had must be expanded.
The difficulty was that the Soul Pond had already reached its full limit of their soul, so this rank-up was all about increasing the limit of their soul to turn their Soul Pond into a Soul Lake.
It meant Tamers must absorb pure Spirit Energy and forcefully infuse it into their soul’s foundation to refine it.
Many people hurt their souls in the process, and fail to refine their souls properly, failing their breakthrough and lowering their chances permanently.
...
"Found Mr. Sirius!" a peak Sovereign-rank Tamer returned to the secret island and immediatly relayed to everyone.
"What?! Where is he?"
"I didn’t find him, but I saw that girl, Azelis, is it? I saw her from far over an island! I didn’t dare go further in case she discovers me, but Mr. Sirius should be there!"
"Let’s go there right away!"
"Gather everyone immediatly!"
The call reached all Sovereign-rank Tamers of the seven forces —
Lockham Family
Jadelight Clan
Magnus Coin Consortium
Spiritveil Sect
Blazebound Sect
Stormjade Pavilion
Skyban Sect
Each one had over forty Sovereign-rank Tamers present, and all of them gathered.
Roughly 280 Sovereign-rank Tamers, with one-fourth of them being at the peak of Sovereign-rank, gathered and departed, each one flying on their own flying-type Pet Monster.
In the secret island somewhere, Max and Yuna were still sedated.
But there was one more little bastard here—Rakin Lokham.
"Let me go!" Rakin shouted at the guard, his face wrathful. "I lost my father and grandfather already! You think that Mr. Sirius spared them?"
"Give me that girl, I’ll show her hell and then you can show her to that John bastard!"
The Emperor-rank Tamer from Spiritveil Sect frowned. "Brat, I know your great-grandfather is a bigshot, but this is not your Lockham family."
"Scram and wait for the meeting with Mr. Sirius. Depending on how it goes, you can play with this girl."
