Overpowered Resident Doctor-Chapter 115: Wang Chuanโs Secret
A ruptured left fallopian tube cyst, with three hundred milliliters of blood pooled in her abdomen. ๐๐๐ฆโฏ๐ธ๐ฆ๐๐๐๐ทโฏ๐.๐๐๐
The diagnosis left Xue Yali terrified in retrospect.
Her doctor, his expression grave, told her the condition was comparable to the internal bleeding from a ruptured ectopic pregnancy.
If she had gone home to rest instead of coming to the hospital for a check-up that night, she likely would have never woken up again.
The emergency department coordinated with the on-duty gynecologist and immediately scheduled her for emergency surgery.
After Xue Yaliโs friends and family in Binhai rushed to the hospital, the Yan siblings left.
By the time the brother and sister got home, it was already past eleven-thirty at night.
Yan Feifan, who hadnโt eaten much since noon, was exhausted, hungry, and drained.
He hurried to the coffee table, sat down, and picked up his chopsticks, ready to dig into the food spread out on it.
"Whatโs the rush?"
Yan Ziruo stopped him, picking up the side dishes. "Itโs all cold. Iโll heat it up in the microwave!"
Yan Feifan waited patiently for his sister to heat up the dishes and the wontons.
He ate a bowl of wontons first, which finally settled his stomach a bit.
Yan Ziruo pushed another warm bowl of wontons toward her brother and said teasingly, "My dear brother, you really saved Xue Yaliโs life this time."
"If she offers herself to you in gratitude after she recovers, you should just accept."
Yan Feifan shot her a look. "If every young woman I saved offered herself to me, Iโd have a whole harem by now."
"Sis, stop worrying about things like that."
He added, "Just wait seven or eight years. By the time Iโm a chief physician and have made a name for myself, I promise Iโll find you a sister-in-law whoโs even more outstanding in every way."
"Seven or eight years?"
Yan Ziruo poked him on the forehead. "You mean I have to keep taking care of you for that long?" she said, annoyed.
"Nope. You need to find someone to take my place and look after you, pronto!"
Not wanting to engage with his sister, Yan Feifan just buried his head in his food and kept eating.
After a few bites, he felt something was off. He looked up to see his sisterโs eyes right in front of his face.
Startled, Yan Feifan leaned back. "Sis, what are you doing?"
"Seven or eight years? By then, Xiaoyu will have graduated from college."
"So..."
Yan Ziruo stood up, planted a hand on her hip, and pointed down at Yan Feifan. "Fess up," she demanded. "When did you get the idea of grooming a future wife?"
This time, Yan Feifan was truly speechless.
He slapped his sisterโs pointing hand away. "Sis, your imagination is running wild. I treat Xiaoyu like a little sister."
โDid I guess wrong?โ
Yan Ziruo sat back down and began to analyze the situation. "Xiaoyu is pretty cute. She has a bit of a babyface, but she has good features. In another year or two, sheโll really blossom."
"Once she starts wearing a little makeup, Iโm not saying sheโll be a total bombshell, but sheโll definitely be a beauty."
"And Xiaoyuโs personality is so cheerful and bubbly."
"I can tell that little girl really idolizes you."
"In seven or eight years, youโll be thirty-one or thirty-two, and sheโll be twenty-two or twenty-three. You two would be a perfect match."
Seeing his sisterโs eyes begin to gleam, Yan Feifan quickly cut in. "Stop, stop! Sis, donโt be ridiculous!"
"Xiaoyu? That messy, gluttonous, simple-minded girl? If she werenโt so thick-skinned, I wouldnโt even bother with her."
Yan Ziruo snorted. "You โwouldnโt botherโ? Then why are you always checking in on her studies?"
Yan Feifan explained, "Iโm just protecting my reputation."
"I canโt have my reputation as the โGod of Tutoringโ ruined by that girl!"
Yan Ziruo scoffed, a thoughtful look on her face. "With a personality like yours, itโs true that a girl who doesnโt know you well would have a hard time falling for you."
"But Xiaoyu knows you inside and out..."
Just as Yan Ziruo was scheming about her brotherโs personal life, Wang Chuan was at the very same private kitchen where he had treated Yan Feifan before. He had just seen out his dinner guests.
He returned to the small private room he usually occupied.
Wang Chuan first swung his left leg out to the side. Then, bracing his hands on the low table and gritting his teeth, he slowly lowered himself onto the cattail cushion.
Once seated, he let out a sigh of relief. He poured himself a cup of tea, but just as he was about to pick it up, he heard the door open.
He assumed it was the proprietress, but a glance from the corner of his eye revealed two unexpected visitors: a foreign man and woman.
The girl was in her early twenties, with brown hair, blue eyes, and delicate features, though her face was covered in freckles.
The other was a man in his forties, also with brown hair, but with gray eyes, a high-bridged nose, a narrow forehead, and a cleft chin...
The more Wang Chuan looked at the manโs face, the more familiar he seemed...
And then, suddenly, he recognized him.
Wang Chuanโs heart seized. The color drained from his face as he scrambled to get up, but he couldnโt manage it.
He asked urgently, "Roger Jinche, what are you doing here?"
"Is your cover blown? Did your past troubles finally catch up with you?"
The man called Roger Jinche didnโt answer directly.
Seeing no chairs or sofas in the room, he simply motioned to the girl beside him, and they knelt formally before the low table.
The man spoke in stilted Mandarin. "My cover isnโt blown. Iโm doing just fine."
"Dr. Wang, you can call me Quirin Cardoso."
He touched his own face and said with a sigh, "After all these years, Iโve gotten used to this face, and to the new name and identity."
The foreigner, who called himself Kuirin, gestured to the girl beside him. "Dr. Wang, this is Angel Watson."
"I need you to change her appearance, Dr. Wang, so that no one who knows her will recognize her."
Hearing this, some of Wang Chuanโs tension subsided.
His expression hardened. "Kuirin," he said coldly, "I donโt do that kind of work anymore."
Kuirin chuckled and opened his mouth to speak. "Dr. Wang..."
He trailed off, suddenly stuck for words.
After struggling for a moment, Kuirin finally recalled the phrase. "Dr. Wang, you have an old saying: once youโre in the life, itโs hard to get out."
Wang Chuan was silent for a moment before asking, "What did she do?"
Kuirin shook his head. "Sheโs so young, just a college student. What could she possibly have done?"
"She just saw something she shouldnโt have and learned something she shouldnโt know."
"Angel needs to lie low for a while."
After a pause, Kuirin continued, "Dr. Wang, weโll pay you double, but there are two conditions."
"First, I need you to contact Mrs. Qiong in the United States and get her a new identity."
Wang Chuan remained noncommittal at this, but his gaze prompted the other man to continue.
Kuirin gathered his thoughts. "The second condition, Dr. Wang, is that in a few years, you have to be able to restore her face."
Wang Chuan refused outright. "How is that possible?"
"Itโs easier to destroy than to build. Changing her face into a different one is a form of destruction, so itโs relatively simple."
"But restoring it to how it was before? Thatโs impossible."
Wang Chuan spoke quickly, but Kuirin seemed to grasp the gist of it.
Kuirin quickly clarified, "Dr. Wang, it doesnโt need to be a perfect restoration. It just needs to be close enough that people who knew her before can recognize her. Thatโs all."
"Angel is still so young."
"Her original identity is very important. Once this whole thing blows over, sheโll need to resume her old identity and get back to the life she was meant to live."
Kuirin asked hopefully, "Dr. Wang, with your brilliant surgical skills, that should be possible, shouldnโt it?"
