Passerby Villain In A Wizard World-Chapter 231: Ian’s Charm
While Zane, Yela, Ron, and Ian looked ahead in unison, Lyra and Aurora were confused. Not only them but all the other apprentices and knights around were just as bewildered.
As for Lina, she seemed to have gone mute, standing motionless in place.
"Well, you guys have good senses."
Only after hearing a soft, elderly voice from the front did they realize that someone had suddenly appeared before them without them noticing.
The old man who had just spoken was draped in an impressive long blue robe embroidered with silver arcane sigils that shimmered faintly even in daylight.
Though he was undoubtedly a wizard, there was no staff in sight—only a heavy tome bound in worn leather and etched with glowing runes, floating effortlessly before him. Its pages turned slowly on their own as if guided by an unseen force.
Ian noticed that the floating tome closely resembled one he had seen in Ignisia Tower's Grimoire Library.
"And it seems you've found a good candidate this time from that place."
Malrik briefly glanced at Ian, then at the raven sleeping on his shoulder, before shifting his attention elsewhere. From his expression, he seemed mildly surprised that Ian's perception was on par with a First Ring Wizard.
But that was all—he paid no further attention.
"Sir Malrik, I didn't know you were in the Mystic Circle. Sorry if we caused any disturbance to your rest."
Recognizing who it was, Yela immediately corrected her posture and bowed slightly, showing basic respect to a Fourth Ring Wizard. Zane and Ron followed suit, saluting the figure before them with equal reverence.
"Haha... No worries. I just came to meet Drevan for a while."
Malrik seemed amiable as he waved his hand dismissively, indicating that everything was fine.
"Oh, I see. What a coincidence."
Hearing his words, Yela nodded in understanding. Drevan Malrik just mentioned was one of the Fourth Ring Wizards of the Mystic Circle.
Since Malrik was also a Fourth Ring Wizard from the Sixth Ring organization, Starhaven, his visit wasn't entirely unexpected. More importantly, as far as Yela knew, the two were quite close.
"Does Sir Malrik have any orders?"
Now aware of why he was here, Yela asked curiously, as the old man simply stood in front of them while the pages of the floating tome continued turning slowly.
She couldn't understand why a Fourth Ring Wizard had suddenly appeared here.
"Well, nothing serious. My Grimoire just happened to sense someone."
The old man smiled slightly at Yela, then turned his attention back to the tome in front of him when, all of a sudden, the pages stopped turning at a specific section.
"Huh? Oh, two good seedlings."
After glancing at the page, the old man finally smiled as if surprised. Then, without waiting for anyone to react, he suddenly tore out two pages from the tome, letting them float freely.
"Swoosh!"
Once detached, the papers floated on their own and rapidly moved in a specific direction, astonishing those around them.
"Ian!"
Lyra and Aurora saw the papers heading toward them and, startled, grabbed Ian's arm simultaneously as if afraid.
"Don't worry, it's not dangerous."
Seeing their reaction, Ian reassured them while watching the papers suddenly dissolve as they neared Lyra and Aurora—one for each.
He was confident it wasn't harmful because neither his System, Ignysyl, nor his intuition sensed any danger.
Besides, if the situation were truly perilous, there was nothing they could do—after all, the man before them was beyond anything Ian could handle with his current power.
"Don't worry. It's just detecting the presence of a Grimoire on you two. Seems like you both came into contact with the Archives in Ignisia Tower. You're quite lucky."
Noticing their anxiety, the old man stroked his beard and smiled. From his delighted expression, he seemed to be in a good mood.
"Grimoire?"
Aurora and Lyra were puzzled. Moreover, they couldn't understand where the dissolved pages had gone.
"He might be talking about Shadowsong and Ocean's Embrace—the books you obtained in Ignisia Tower."
Ian replied, feeling slightly confused. In the novel, he didn't remember Carl receiving any special treatment like this.
'Maybe because he joined the Celestial Council directly after arriving on the Calvora Continent,' Ian guessed.
As for Lyra, without his involvement, she would have only received a lower-tier Grimoire. After all, the books Aurora and Lyra acquired were actually meant for someone with a talent score of 10 in water and darkness attributes.
"Swoosh!"
While Ian pondered, the seemingly dissolved pages suddenly reappeared and floated back to Malrik, who caught them effortlessly.
"Hmm... Their talents are a bit low, but both possess a unique Physique. Oh, and they have some connection to the Abyss? Now, this is interesting."
The old man briefly examined the papers before speaking in surprise. Then, he looked at Lyra and Aurora again and smiled.
"Haha... Sorry if this startled you. But you two are indeed linked to the Archive. Well, seems like you guys are lucky."
Malrik once again glanced at Ian, as both girls were practically attached to him. It was hard not to notice.
Moreover, he was impressed by Ian's keen perception—too bad he didn't seem to have any connection to the Archive.
"Yeah, we did come across a massive library in Ignisia Tower."
Sensing that the old man had a calm presence and bore no airs despite his superior realm, Lyra relaxed and responded.
"Yeah, a vast library containing all the knowledge of this world and beyond."
Hearing that, the old man looked wistful, as if even he longed for such a place.
Knowledge was any wizard's dream and Achilles' heel.
"The library you encountered in Ignisia Tower is called the Archive. Its origins are ancient, and it only manifests in Mythic-level artifacts or above. Honestly, even I don't know much about it."
Malrik briefly explained what Lyra and Aurora had encountered before continuing,
"But let's not dwell on that for now. Instead, I have a proposal for both of you."
The old man smiled amiably.
"Since it is fate that we met in this place, I think I should give you both a chance. I don't know if you two want to enter Starhaven?"
He then caressed his beard and continued,
"But since I am leaving soon, you guys only have a few minutes to decide," Malrik said while placing the two papers inside his tome with a wave of his hand and closing it right after.
Then, he looked at Lyra and Aurora silently, as if awaiting their decision.
"Wow, it is an honor for anyone to join Starhaven, Sir. Of course, they will agree."
Hearing such a sudden offer from a Fourth Ring Wizard, Yela, Zane, and even Ron showed surprise on their faces.
And as if Lyra and Aurora didn't know any better, Yela tried to emphasize its importance through her words.
After all, Starhaven was a Sixth Ring Wizard organization, and unlike the Celestial Council, its reputation was highly regarded on the Calvora Continent.
Even she would join without hesitation. Unfortunately, she didn't have much luck and had no idea what Archive they were talking about.
"I refuse."
"I refuse."
But to Yela's dismay, her words were completely ignored as both Lyra and Aurora rejected Malrik's offer without even a moment's hesitation.
Their decision was so unanimous and quick that all the wizards and apprentices looked at them as if they were idiots.
Even a blind person could see how incredible this opportunity was, yet they outright refused without even considering it for a moment.
To be honest, even the old man was slightly surprised, as evident from his raised eyebrow. But seeing them snuggling beside Ian, he understood their reasoning.
So, he didn't take their decision to heart and let them talk it out first.
"You girls, what are you saying? Do you know what Starhaven is? It's a Sixth Ring Organization, countless times stronger than our Mystic Circle. Many don't even get to see that place in their lifetime, and you two are declining the offer without even thinking!"
Sure enough, Yela immediately stepped forward and spoke in a low voice, explaining the origin of Starhaven. She assumed they might be unaware.
No matter what, they could be considered acquaintances, right? So, she didn't want them to miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity due to their ignorance.
"I don't want to leave. I don't care if it's a Sixth Ring or even an Eighth Ring organization."
But Lyra didn't care. She shook her head while gripping Ian's arm a little tighter.
"Me too."
Aurora also rejected the offer, holding onto Ian's arm from the other side just like Lyra.
They now looked perfectly in sync—like sisters.
And, of course, the crowd instantly understood why they were so adamant about staying.
Wasn't it all because of that hateful guy?
'That lucky bastard.'
'Oh god, my eyes.'
'Sister, can you be serious right now?'
Jealousy and envy instantly overwhelmed the crowd as they watched two beautiful girls clinging to Ian.
They even forgot about Ian's earlier help and began cursing him in their hearts, lamenting why they couldn't have such luck.
Even one would have been enough.

"Are you two stupid?"
Yela, too, saw their reactions, and her eyes widened. Honestly, she couldn't understand what kind of magic Ian had cast on them.
'Did he use a love potion on them or what?'
She thought while glancing at Ian suspiciously. Although he was charming, she couldn't see why Lyra and Aurora refused to leave his side, not even for a moment.
After all, it wasn't like they were going to be separated forever. Declining such a golden opportunity for flimsy love seemed completely idiotic in her eyes.
"Okay, what she said is true. Can you two be a little less stupid?"
Ian, who had remained silent all this time, finally couldn't take it anymore and reprimanded both Lyra and Aurora in a soft voice.
