Path of Alchemy Mastery-Chapter 226 - 227: The Frustrated Demon Ancestor
Chapter 226: Chapter 227: The Frustrated Demon Ancestor
The once high-and-mighty Anxi Demon Venerable just vanished into thin air, leaving not even a speck of dust behind.
All of his vital essence was gathered in the heart of a fierce beast which had already entered into a dormant state.
"Daddy, is there no life energy inside anymore?" Stupidly whispered into Mu Can’s ear.
Even though separated by the sealing spells of Fire King Cauldron and the Reincarnation Pearl, Stupidly could still sense the life energy inside the Reincarnation Pearl.
"Wang Cai, what’s happening on your end?" Mu Can felt something was amiss, as the previously howling Anxi Demon Venerable had gone completely silent, and even Wang Cai, who had been excitedly barking, had clamped its mouth shut and went quiet.
Maybe this dog got refined along with the rest.
Mu Can was clearly overthinking it; in an instant, the armored Reincarnation Pearl shifted into the shape of a dog, its fur black and shiny—Wang Cai, if not.
Upon unlocking the Fourth Layer, Wang Cai had absorbed enough Life Energy, and was now able to transform the Reincarnation Pearl into its original dog form. The Reincarnation Pearl truly lived up to its reputation as a treasure hard to find, even in the Supreme Realm, capable of transforming according to the Artifact Spirit’s will.
The big black dog was silently observing the heart within the Fire King Cauldron that was contained and shiny like a red jade.
Unable to contain his excitement, he bared his fangs and bit fiercely into the Heart of Ferocious Beast.
With a crisp snap, his teeth scraped across, sending sparks flying.
The hardness of the Reincarnation Pearl was rivalled by few in the Three Realms, but at this moment, facing a heart which should be flesh-like ended up sounding like biting into metal.
Fortunately, Wang Cai currently took the form of the Reincarnation Pearl; otherwise, this bite might have shattered all its silver teeth.
Wang Cai bit down with all his strength, but without any effect, which stirred his temper, and he began to gnaw at the Heart of Fierce Beast.
This time, Wang Cai didn’t bite down hard but gnawed gently at the Fierce Beast’s heart. Still, it was to no avail.
"Woof! Woof!" Wang Cai, seeing the treasure he had longed for lying right before his eyes yet unreachable, became so anxious that he started barking loudly inside the Fire King Cauldron.
Hearing Wang Cai’s urgent barking, Mu Can thought something had gone wrong.
Clang!
The lid of the Fire King Cauldron instantly opened, and the flames inside coalesced into a Fire Dragon that flew out, rubbing its massive head against Mu Can before reluctantly flying into his body.
Quickly putting away the Fire King Cauldron and looking at the scene inside, he felt his mind was a bit muddled.
A stout black mongrel dog was furiously tearing at a heart as glossy as jade stone with its wide-opened bloody mouth.
Because he was so engrossed, Wang Cai hadn’t even realized that Mu Can had removed the Fire King Cauldron from around him. Seeing Mu Can’s surprised face, Wang Cai, for the first time ever, felt a bit embarrassed.
"Wang Cai?" Mu Can rubbed his eyes. Although Wang Cai had appeared some time ago, Mu Can never expected that he would one day actually see Wang Cai’s true form.
"Arf! Arf!" Wang Cai carefully glanced at Mu Can, making an indistinct barking sound because his mouth was full with the Heart of Ferocious Beast. The next moment, he swallowed the Heart of Ferocious Beast whole into his stomach, transforming back into the original form of the pearl and flying straight back into Mu Can’s body.
"Darn it, you dead dog, thinking of gobbling it up alone?" When Mu Can saw Wang Cai’s actions, he instantly understood his intentions. This greedy dead dog had surely taken the Heart of Ferocious Beast, and now by running away with it in his mouth, he was certainly planning to keep it all for himself.
However, no matter how much Mu Can called for him, Wang Cai remained silent, apparently determined to hoard the Heart of Ferocious Beast for himself.
After swallowing the Heart of Ferocious Beast, it was sealed inside the fourth layer of the Reincarnation Pearl. In the Reincarnation Pearl, Wang Cai carefully opened a corner of the space, and his entire translucent body instantly shrank as he dove into it.
In the distant Demon World, ever since the collapse started from the periphery, the Demon World plunged into turmoil. The Demon Ancestor enforced a set of measures with his formidable control over the Demon World and had these Demon Lords descend early into the Mortal World, to prepare for his final arrival.
The Demon Ancestor resided on the Demon Mountain within the Demon World, the most mysterious place here. Even the Demon Lords would not dare to come here in normal times.
Demon Mountain soared into the clouds, like a straight sword piercing through the sky, the Demonic Qi almost tangible, visibly filling the air with raging storms—this was the most abundant area of Demonic Qi in the entire Demon World. It was the center of the Demon World and the place where the Demon Ancestor secluded himself.
Surprisingly, atop Demon Mountain, supposedly the most perilous place in the Demon World, there was a simple palace where an utterly ordinary person from the Mortal World lived.
The Demon Ancestor, possessing supreme authority over the Demon World, turned out to be a seemingly ordinary mortal. If this news spread, it would be no wonder how many people would go insane.
The origins of the Demon Ancestor were mysterious and ancient, having existed in the Demon World since ancient times. Yet, nobody would have thought that the Demon Ancestor was not a member of the Demon Clan but a mortal.
Precisely because of this, in such a bizarre place, with such a peculiar palace inhabited by a seemingly ordinary mortal, all these made it so that the Demon Ancestor seemed anything but ordinary. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm
Waking up on a bed that was soft and smooth like the skin of a young girl, he lazily stretched, lightly patted his mouth, and yawned.
"Ah! Why am I so unlucky? Just when I could enjoy a few days of bliss, this damned realm has to face destruction." The youth looked down at the splendid landscapes of the Demon World from Demon Mountain; the magnificent scenery was quite different from the Mortal World.
"Xiao Die, help me dress." Despite a face of helplessness, the young man managed to force a smile and called out gently.
The door was quietly pushed open, and a girl, looking about twenty years old with a sweet face, poked her head inside.
"Master, are you troubled again?" The girl’s flowing black hair revealed the tips of her pointed ears—she was not a member of the Demon Clan but of the Elf Clan, which did not exist in the Three Realms.
The Demon Ancestor was not of the Demon Clan, nor was his servant.
"Isn’t that so? I don’t know how I got dragged here. Just as I was getting settled, this realm is already on the verge of decline," the young man said, shaking his head in dejection.
"Xiao Die rarely sees Master with such an expression?" The girl looked curiously at the youth; in her memory, she had never seen the Demon Clan, who were feared like tigers by outsiders, show such a troubled face.
"Alas, I was originally thinking of using that idiot’s power to break open the space and go to the Mortal World. It turns out that the life forms in the Demon World are too foolish," the Demon Clan said with a sigh, looking at Xiao Die.
