"Sometimes I think the guy you fell for is crazy. What do you even see in him anyway?" Kaiden said as he and Kasandra waited on a rooftop with the terrorists attacking Zwarr Construction in sight.

"Well, I like to think that he’s just bold. Plus, he can be quite considerate and caring. Unlike someone I know. Now less talking and keep your aim steady. Things are about to get hectic." Kasandra replied irritably.

From her rifle’s scope, she watched Avery as he prepared to charge the terrorists’ position. They had set up shield generators and had power armored soldiers along the perimeter laying down heavy fire upon the security guards and employees of Zwarr Construction.

It would be difficult to breach their defenses with only four people, but Avery had thought up something a bit wild to make up for their lack of numbers.

"I just hope the colony doesn’t make a fuss about his later." Kaiden grumbled.

From down on the street below, Avery had just lifted up an abandoned emergency fire rescue vehicle that had been dispatched before learning that the cause of automated alarm they received was due to a terrorist attack.

There were a few scorch marks on it from laser fire, but overall, it was still in good condition.

Being meant for fire suppression, the vehicle had decently dense plating. Avery’s plan was to use it as both a shield and battering ram.

When he was ready and had gotten used to moving with it thanks to his power suit’s immense strength, he walked out onto the main road and prepared to charge.

Immediately the terrorists noticed him. Many had baffled looks on their face, not understanding what they were looking at right away.

At first it appeared like the emergency vehicle was floating and moving in an uncanny manner, but eventually they noticed the suit of heavy power armor lifting it up.

By the time they had already tuned and started firing, Avery had taken off.

He was completely disregarding any fine control over his movements and was simply bounding forward as fast as he could.

Each of his steps left cracks in their wake, and he could hear the Sterkur’s artificial muscles groaning in protest as he pushed them to their limit.

Several powerful lasers blasted away at the vehicle as he approached, and it all seemed that it would be over when over twenty rockets were fired at him. Surely his power armor would not be able to hold up to this much.

Yet before the explosive projectiles could reach him, several streaks of light intercepted them.

From up above, Kasandra and Kaiden provided cover fire for Avery, while Ezra was doing so as well from the ground.

Thanks to the three of them, not a single missile reached Avery, and his armor and the vehicle he was using as a shield held out until the end.

When he was around a hundred meters away from the terrorists’ position, Avery activated his Sterkur’s thrusters and went flying.

Without knowing if it would truly be enough to break through, he slammed the emergency vehicle directly into the protective forefield.

For around a second, he felt like he was going to be pushed back and put in a precarious position, but in the end, the shield was unable to hold up to the immense kinetic energy smashing into it.

All at once, the forcefield dissipated and Avery went flying into the heart of the terrorists’ formation with a most destroyed vehicle as a battering ram.

The scene that followed was undoubtedly messy.

Bodies went flying and blood scattered everywhere. Avery had shown no mercy for the people attacking Phregon III.

Once he finally came to a stop, the few terrorists that still had any wherewithal aimed their weapons towards him and opened fire.

"Whoops."

Watching the gauge in his helmet’s HUD representing his shield capacity rapidly depleting, Avery brought what remained of the fire suppression vehicle around to protect himself.

At this point it could only be considered a chuck of metal, and when he felt it was a moment away from giving out, he tossed it towards the people firing at him.

A laser cannon blast tore it apart midflight, but that possibly just made it more deadly.

Pieces of hot shrapnel went flying in every direction, and the less armored terrorists found themselves sliced up and burned.

Before they had a chance to regroup, Avery grabbed his laser rifle and laser cannon and opened fire.

Beams of light cut through the area, and anyone that continued to resist found themselves being blasted apart.

Whenever the terrorists finally got together to aim at Avery and take him down with concentrated fire, shots from above and to the side ripped them apart.

While their strategy was practically the same as always, it worked all too well against untrained terrorists that lacked pretty much any training and relied solely on their numbers.

Avery in his bulky power armor served as a distraction, and Kasandra, Kaiden, and Ezra used their free rein to mow their enemies down with rapid fire shots. Find more to read at novelbuddy

It was not long until the surviving terrorist tried to flee. Unfortunately for them, it was far too late for that.

From above they were stuck down by the Woest siblings and trying to hide in between narrow buildings only saw them being blasted from afar by Avery and Ezra. Soon they had been completely wiped out.

After it became clear that the threat had been eliminated, several upper ranking members of Zwarr construction came out to greet Avery and his team.

"On behalf of everyone here, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for protecting all of us." The supervisor in charge said as he bowed his head deeply in a show of gratitude.

Next to him was the head of security as well as the construction foreman. They were currently the top three present on site.

"Just doing our job. Your company paid us a lot to come here. And since it seems like there are still a few battles left, we need to get going. We’ve got another contract waiting on us."

Except, as Avery tried to excuse himself and move onto the next fight, he received an emergency call from Jasmine.

She had been left aboard the Dauntless to look after Grito and coordinate the jobs that they were doing.

Obviously, she had wanted to come along and fight since she had her training as a member of the Alliance Police, but Avery had refused since someone needed to stay with their guest and currently the only combat gear she possessed was a single laser pistol. In this situation, that would hardly be enough.

"What is it, Jasmine? We were just about to move on. Did a more profitable job pop up?" Avery asked, curious about the sudden call.

"No, nothing profitable. I fact, it’s uh, pretty bad. A minute ago, some extremely heavily armed people started flooding into the hangar. Multiple security drones came to stop them, but they’ve all been wiped out. Now they’re setting up several laser cannons and aiming directly at the Dauntless. What should I do about this?"
