Path to Becoming the Greatest Space Mercenary-Chapter 133 Ezra Vs Olivia
Ezra began his renewed battle against Oliva with fierce attacks that could easily bring down an unskilled opponent in a single blow.
Yet, Ezra's old friend and Iniquus' current thrall was an equally skilled fighter and truthfully had even more experience wielding a hard light weapon than Ezra did.
While Oliva did not possess even half of the raw physical strength Ezra did, she was quick, and her strikes possessed a deadly pression.
Using her spear, she would intercept Ezra's weapon and deflect it with the perfect angle and minimal force.
Then with a quick thrust, she would jab forward at the most difficult to defend spot in the moment and force Ezra off balance.
'She's no less skilled than she was before. Honestly, considering her current condition, it is a miracle that her abilities have not degraded. Still, I can tell that during his time, she had been unable to get better.' Ezra thought as they traded blows.
He had only continued to improve himself during the past year, while his friend had become stagnant. Nevertheless, this merely brought them up close to the same level. Before, Ezra had been slightly inferior when it came to fighting with close range weapons

If anyone had been watching the two of them would have appeared like two storms clashing against each other. With Ezra being larger and stronger, while Olivia was faster.
Eventually, Ezra was able to predict the way Oliva was going to parry his blow and swiftly pulled back and jabbed the butt of his halberd forward.
With skills and agility that seemed inhuman, Oliva twisted her own weapon around to block the incoming blow and just barely managed to get her spear into position in time.
Still, unlike her earlier blocks, this time she was forced to receive the full brunt of Ezra's strength and was blown back.
Her feet were forced off the ground and she went flying through the corridor for several meters before doing a somersault and landing.
The moment she landed though, her posturer and footing were unstable, and Ezra had already rushed forward to capitalize on his advantage. Now that he had the upper hand, Ezra was going to continue pushing until he had won.
Or at least, that was what he had envisioned.
In his haste to pursue Olivia, he had failed to keep any focus on his surroundings. He had been far too intent on the adversary in front of him and had not even realized that he was walking into a trap.
As soon as he passed by a corridor that intersected with the hallway he was fighting Oliva in, three more of Iniquus' troops appeared and opened fire on him.
They had been waiting for this moment, and the red behemoth that had been rampaging through the station suddenly found himself pelted by laser fire.
This was normally when Ezra would have used his shield to absorb the blows and charge in, but that was currently not possible. He had lent the defensive piece of equipment to Avery, and now that decision was coming back to bite him.
His personal shield generator was able to protect him from the laser fire, but its energy was being rapidly drained.
The moment Ezra tried to jump backwards to get out of range, however, Oliva took her chance and struck.
"Gahhh!"
Forcing his body to move, Ezra just barely managed to swing his halberd around in time to intercept the blade coming for his chest.
Unfortunately, he was unable to fully avoid injury.
Oliva's spear's trajectory had been diverted, but its sharp hard light blade had sliced across Ezra's left arm and left a massive gash in it.
Dark purple blood gushed out of the wound, and Ezra winced in pain.
Of course, he did not let his guard down simply because of the injury, and with wide swings of his own weapon, kept Oliva back as she tried to pressure him and deliver a finishing blow.
'I can still move it, but my left arm's less response now. She certainly severed some nerves and muscles with that strike. This is really not going to be easy.' Ezra thought as he fought defensively.
Without giving him any time to recover, Oliva continuously pressured him and forced him back.
The three other enslaved soldiers did not join her, as the space was too narrow for them to effectively assist from behind without the possibility of accidently shooting Oliva.
This same problem was one of the main reasons that Ezra had sent Kasandra, Jasmine, and Kaiden away. Except, unlike them, their opponents knew the layout of this station, and it was certain that the three individuals that had caught Ezra off guard were making their way to a new position so that they could attack him from another angle and create an opening for Oliva to strike again.
Continuing to fight a defensive battle, Ezra anticipated where the other three were going to appear. His shield generator was low on power now, and another heavy barrage could see it breached, and his protection brought down. If that happened, his chances of victory would slip close to zero.
'It must be there.'
Feeling that Oliva had suddenly started putting a bit more pressure on him, Ezra surmised that her backup was waiting around the next intersection.
In contrast to his passive fighting since he was put on the backfoot, Ezra swung his halberd in a wide arc and sliced into the ceiling above him.
This shattered a light fixture above him and caused a bright flash of light followed by debris falling.
For only a single moment, this caused Oliva to back off, but that was enough for Ezra.
He turned around and rushed into the intersecting corridor where he figured the three guards were waiting for him. And as he had guessed, there they were.
Spinning his hard light weapon around extremely quickly, he deflected their laser fire and jumped into their midst. With a few calculated strikes, he was able to cut into their arms and legs and disable the three. Bringing the fight back to one on one.
But in the next instant, Ezra felt a premonition of dread and swiftly drew one of the laser pistols at his hip and fired behind him.
This managed to force Oliva to duck out of the as she was moments away from thrusting her spear through Ezra's head.
However, despite avoiding having his head skewered, Ezra had not been able to fully deter his opponent's advance.
Olivia had needed to lower her stance, but she was able to jab her weapon forward and pierce straight through Ezra's flesh.
With his back still to her, Ezra watched as the glowing tip of the hard light spear protruded out of his stomach.
