Chapter 789: Chapter 93: Marquis Qin Wu Becomes Renowned, the Talent of the King Returns_4
......
When Li Guanyi donned his court dress to accompany the Ministry of Rites officials to the Imperial Palace, other than their departure, the line of palace guards remained tranquil. With Ling Pingyang in charge of the defense, Murong Longtu nowhere to be found after his leisurely departure, and the silver-haired girl alone flipping through the scrolls, a sudden noise broke the silence.
A soft sound.
The silver-haired girl’s ears twitched slightly.
Yet, she continued to calmly read the scrolls, never turning her head.
Then, as if unwilling to concede defeat, the source of the noise made another attempt.
Shaking Light sighed lightly, and even at this moment, her expression remained serene. She placed the scrolls neatly away, then, turning around, walked toward the source of the sound where two steamed buns lay on the ground.
In the corner crouched an old fellow.
His hair was white and disheveled, with a Mystic Turtle at his side.
Siming.
The silver-haired girl looked up at him, her voice tranquil, "Do you think, this is enough to lure me over?"
Siming scratched his head awkwardly, "Ah, um... isn’t it?"
Shaking Light replied, "Please do not waste food."
Mr. Siming was kicked out of the corner by the Mystic Turtle.
The old man scratched his head, looking quite embarrassed, and stuffed the two buns into his chest, looking at Shaking Light, he said, "Hahaha, it won’t be wasted, definitely not. But the reason this old man came looking for you is that there really is a matter."
Shaking Light tilted her head slightly and turned to leave.
Old Si Ming hurriedly reached out and caught hold of the girl, saying, "It’s good news, really good news!"
"I swear on Si Wei’s name."
"It’s truly an exceptionally good piece of news! Otherwise, let him be ruined and disgraced! Let him, let him..."
Siming couldn’t come up with anything excessively harsh, something that would be over the top but also ensure Si Wei wouldn’t pursue him, Shaking Light sighed in resignation, her voice still tranquil, "I understand."
"What celebration are you dragging me to?"
Siming gave a thumbs up, "Good girl!"
Then the old and the young scaled the wall and left. Along the way, Old Si Ming used his Mystical Skills in cooperation with Shaking Light, concealing their Qi Mechanism, and they circled around the vast city.
Old Si Ming spent some money on pastries and candies for the young girl and then loudly shared tales of old times. After much wandering, they arrived at a rather opulent location.
High walls of crimson separated the inside from outside, where only the treetops could be glimpsed faintly. Outside were guards clad in armor, carrying Weapons, all exuding an aura of chill detachment that caused a tremble in the hearts of those who saw them, deterring them from approaching.
Siming pointed inside, smiling broadly,
"Inside lies an interesting affair!"
Shaking Light pondered for a moment and took a bite of the pastry.
The silver-haired girl turned to leave!
"Hey hey hey, come back, you child..." Old Si Ming stretched out his hand and caught Shaking Light’s hood. Despite being quite tall, he just pulled, lifting the silver-haired girl into the air.
The girl took steps in midair as if walking on solid ground.
She fell silent for a moment, then looked down and noticed that her feet had started to float.
Old Si Ming smirked, pinched some Mystical Skill, and just walked through the wall, bringing Shaking Light with him indoors. Shaking Light’s eyes widened, "If you know such a technique, why did we need to scale the wall?"
Siming declared proudly, "Purely for the love of the pursuit."
As they spoke, they hid themselves around the pavilions and towers and no longer moved forward. Soon two figures approached rapidly – the atmosphere of the airy pair, one old with a persistently chill demeanor, his martial aura almost tangible, the other dressed simply with hair of silver, casual in poise.
It was the military god, Jiang Su, and the Whale Hunter.
Shaking Light felt a tumultuous wave in her heart; she wanted to leave but was held back by Siming:
"If you want to go, the old man won’t stop you."
"But if noticed by that empty-basket fisherman, you’ll find it hard to see again."
After remaining silent for a while, Shaking Light obediently sat down again. As their combined Mystical Skills protected them, she showed no emotion, carefully holding a leaf above her head as a shield. Old Si Ming silently laughed, resting his elbow atop the young girl’s head.
The elder and the younger fixed their gaze on the scene ahead.
Within the pavilion, Jiang Su and the Whale Hunter were enjoying a convivial atmosphere. Even the Whale Hunter would not dismiss someone of similar standing, whose Inner Strength surpassed his own.
To scorn such would not be pride; it would be foolishness.
They interacted as equals, raising several toasts. Jiang Su laughed, "Good skills, good Formation, good capacity for liquor."
The Whale Hunter replied, "You’re not bad yourself."
Jiang Su just shook his head, "I heard that the Whale Hunter is always proud, but what I see today is different."
The Whale Hunter said, "If I did not speak thusly, should I say you’re lacking?"
Jiang Su did not take it to heart but simply laughed out loud, rose to propose a toast, saying, "Splendid bravery! Whale Hunter, in your travels far and wide, have you learned of Daying’s military might, seen our Crown Prince?"
The Whale Hunter drank, "I’ve not seen any Crown Prince."
Jiang Su smiled, "Our Crown Prince has passed the threshold of thirty, carries himself like jade, a talent of the king. In the future, I will lead a mighty host of a million soldiers hand in hand with the emperor, to govern many thousands of miles of territory; the Crown Prince will be the co-sovereign of this land."
The Whale Hunter said, "Isn’t that quite fine?"
Jiang Su replied, "Indeed, it is, but there’s one concern. Our Crown Prince has yet to take a principal wife, the future Crown Princess Consort, the motherly model for the nation’s Empress."
The Whale Hunter continued merely to drink.
Jiang Su smiled lightly, "I hear, Whale Hunter, you have a daughter?"
"Would you consider allowing her to be the wife of our Crown Prince,
"Eventually, the Empress commanding respect from all under heaven?"
The silver-haired girl watched intently.
The Whale Hunter finally stopped drinking, his gaze shifting to Jiang Su:
"Hmm?"
