Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead-Chapter 1238: The Evil Within
Capítulo 1238: The Evil Within
Today, Ronarkatast was paying a diplomatic visit to Lefaux–For a simple reason: Recently, a very peculiar, feral dragon had appeared there, and as one would expect, with his habit of collecting dragons to bring back to Dragonnerie, he had made a deal with every superpower for the right to claim dragons, he was always willing to pay a very high price for this, so no one had ever refused him.
This feral dragon was a very special one. It had been seen wandering the coasts of the continent, hunting for food, and acting like a wild beast. Not showing any signs of deeper intellect. What was most bizarre about it was its appearance.
At first, the people of Lefaux had not even realised it was a dragon. Only finer inspection had revealed a very rich draconic bloodline. Marking it as either a dragon from a very ‘pure’ species, or one from an ‘impure’ species that had risen to strength and purified its bloodline.
Pure and impure were somewhat of misnomers. The true difference was merely a matter of evolutionary branches. The impure have merely evolved away from their draconic roots over time to better adapt to their environment. Nonetheless, draconic traits are powerful, and the so-called impure will often either go back to their roots in some capacity or develop a new, unique draconic bloodline.
In any case… This dragon looked monstrous, it had eight limbs, three legs, and two wings–The latter set resembled those of a dragonfly, but its body was covered in bright red scales which looked more like chitin… Which was likely to be because that’s what they were. The dragon appeared very centipede-like. Countless small, insectoid legs twitched and squirmed, lining the side of its neck, body and tail.
Its head was akin to that of a more regular dragon, but featuring mandibles sticking out the sides of its maw, and compound eyes that stretched far too widely, almost making it seem like there was only one big patch of compound eyes spread over its face.
The dragon had spat, casting poison at those who approached it too closely. The initial plan was simply to kill it, but the local officials where the dragon wandered were aware that it had been a long time since Lefaux had had diplomatic contact with Dragonnerie.
The floating continent was considered the strongest, after all, the inhabitants there were dragons, or dragon-adjacent. The number of heavy-hitters and powerhouses Dragonnerie possessed as just regular citizens was astounding. No one wanted to be in trouble with that. As such, the officials contacted the king and queen, who agreed that it had indeed been a while since there had been an official exchange.
Nonetheless, neither Gargantax Torh nor Pylhta Hilio had forgotten how obsessed the dragonlord was with new and weird dragon species. They weren’t surprised to hear that he was going to come in person… In fact, had the feral dragon not been determined to be a male, but a female instead, they knew that Ronarkatast would have shown up to Lefaux even quicker.
It was no secret that his interest in his unknown kin was even more pronounced when it came to the fairer sex. Not that he even attempted to hide it. The number of offspring of his wandering around Dragonnerie was astoundingly high. It was a good thing that the floating continent’s manner of governance did not depend on inherited right to rule, or else the matter of succession would have turned out to be a true civil war in the waiting.
Thankfully, it wasn’t like the Dragonlord was going to die anytime soon. He was the strongest dragon by a long shot. No one could take his spot upon the throne.
When he arrived in Dragonnerie, he immediately went to see the feral dragon. Quickly subjecting it before meeting in a more official capacity with the Sapient Golem King and Pure Spirit Queen.
The Dragonlord had come accompanied by his right-hand man, Solast, but apart from this, no one had come… At least, to the knowledge of the people of Lefaux. Their elaborate barrier could detect deep levels of stealth and concealment. It was to the point that even The Death Dealer, or even Sweet Holli, wouldn’t be able to get past it, even at their best.
…There are always ways to cheat past anything. Especially when your name is Loimos, and you have access to the full catalogue of knowledge of an entire Empire.
He used his rot to meld himself and several other undeads together, making everyone a part of a blob in which the difference between individuals was–For a time–Nonexistent… Then, he copied a portion of Ronarkatast perfectly. The rotten blob hid directly within the dragon’s body, and being a guest of extreme importance, the barrier was opened up enough to let him through alongside Solast specifically.
This last part was why Loimos needed to use this particular trick to gain quiet access to the continent. Otherwise, the barrier would have blocked him and anyone else. There was a need to be absolutely indistinguishable from the rest of Ronarkatast’s body…
In any case, it worked. Loimos’s information gatherers had not been mistaken. As such, he was eventually able to quietly detach from the Dragonlord’s body and find himself a secluded spot. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
He dropped down when the dragon was busy with the ‘exotic’ dragon. Which was actually a prince produced by Sidehuit. He had fed her dragon blood, flesh, bones, scales, organs, and the whole nine yards to allow her to produce a dragon from scratch.
The result was certainly impressive. This prince was born from a centipede egg, from a creature that had nothing to do with dragons, and yet, by all metrics, he was a genuine dragon. Truly, Sidehuit was capable of incredible things.
The blob of rot seeped into a crack in the ground, and from there, the mass of decay split back into the various undead who had been fused into it.
“Oooh~ I liked this. I liked this a lot…”
“You’re nasty. It felt like I was drowning in a septic hole the entire time…”
One and Maliah were a part of the ride. The assassin was there to escort the vampiress around. One wasn’t exactly a very stealthy person, so Maliah was going to assist in this regard, helping the vampire get to a nice spot where she would be able to unleash a cloud of her pink blood.
The trick One was going to use was one she had practised a lot, but past any technical terms–It would just be a chemical attack using a substance precisely crafted to harm pure spirit and sapient golems by disrupting their inner energies.
For this to work out, though. One was going to require some preparations. She was still far from being on the level of a Gravelord, so such a wide usage of her vampiric blood was not possible without having recourse to some external means.
This was where the other undeads brought along came into play. They would be setting up arrays over certain parts of the continent, to help propagate and expand One’s range, ensuring that as much of Lefaux was flooded with her pink haze.
This included Holli, the invisible girl was the best stealth user of the entire Undead Empire–When excluding Loimos–So getting around without being noticed by anyone was just business as usual for her.
Maliah would have liked to bring Aliah in as well, but her living daughter, while she was no longer a child, was still too inexperienced to take part in such an important mission.
Part of the team, though, were Arleqkin and Odicious, the leader and ring-leader of the Fin-Limier, respectively. Odicious would be participating in the placing of arrays, whilst Arleqkin had a much more crucial role to play…
As for Loimos himself? His main purpose was to gain access to the heart of what was maintaining the great barrier around the continent and corrupt it. Turning it into a cage that would–Once again–Project a false image to the outside world. The goal was not to alert Bermude.
As overwhelming as the Undead Empire would be with only one of the superpowers to deal with, there was a reason why Loimos was in Lefaux and not Bermude right now. The Queen-Empress was simply too good at keeping what mattered secret.
The place she kept her totems remained a complete mystery to Loimos. As it stood, she was basically untouchable… Thus, keeping her in the dark as to the fate of her fellow great leaders was of incredible importance.
On top of this team, several of the elites had been brought along to set up more arrays… Of course, Ronarkatast and Solast would have their own parts to play. They were the ones that would be closest to the king and queen of Lefaux…
Thus, following a few inappropriate comments from One, which led to Odicious trying to cover the ears of Holli–Everyone split up, spreading outward across the continent.
Lefaux did not know it yet, but it was in dire danger.
