Chapter 307: Chapter 307: The Poison Gas Problem

It hadn’t been long since the fight between Aokiji and Akainu.

Right now, on the island—

Whether it was the ice or the lava, it was all still fresh.

Ryuen noticed something: Punk Hazard at this moment looked nothing like it would two years later. Right now, only the lab area was untouched by ice or magma.

After thinking it through, the group decided to ignore Ryuen’s opinion and chose to land on the frozen side of the island.

After all, compared to extreme heat, they figured a little cold wasn’t so bad. Plus, the temperature near the edge of the island wasn’t too bad—no need for thick jackets.

"These are the documents we gathered before. They record some of the experiments the Marines did here, including the poison gas leak caused by Caesar Clown at the end. I organized the info a bit—come take a look," Robin said after they landed, pulling a stack of papers from her bag.

Everyone gathered around and started flipping through the pages carefully.

The documents gave detailed accounts of the Marines’ experiments on Punk Hazard—studies on Devil Fruit users, weapons development, and more.

But what really caught their attention was the gas leak at the end.

"So the gas mostly cleared out, but there’s still a lot of it inside the lab?" Nojiko frowned as she read.

"Yes."

"From what it says here, if someone touches the gas people, the poison goes straight through the skin and causes it to rot."

"So if we’re going into the lab, the first thing we need to deal with is the poison gas. Even with protective suits, there’s still a risk," Robin said seriously.

"When the gas leaked, the World Government left in a hurry, so they didn’t have time to take all the lab data with them. One of our goals this time is to find what they left behind."

"As for the poison gas problem—Daisy, we’re counting on you," Ryuen said, turning to look at her.

"You got it!"

"Daisy, I’ll leave the job of neutralizing the poison gas to you!" Robin said with a smile, squinting her eyes.

Everyone looked at Daisy, waiting for her response.

Daisy rubbed her chin with a troubled look on her face.

"Hmm~~~" She frowned.

"This is really a headache... it’s gonna kill a bunch of brain cells. I’ll need to eat a lot of tasty food to make up for it..." she muttered to herself.

"Hehehe~" Anya waved her hand with a smile. "Once this is over, I promise I’ll cook a bunch of delicious food for you."

She knew Daisy loved food and was trying to cheer her up.

"Wow~"

Daisy’s eyes lit up the moment she heard Anya’s promise.

"Thanks, my lovely chef!" she shouted with excitement, then jumped straight into Anya’s arms, burying her face in her soft chest like she was in heaven.

The others looked at the two of them and couldn’t help but laugh.

"But before that, I still need to get some of the gas from inside. Only then can I figure out what’s in it and make something to cancel it out." Daisy pulled away from Anya’s warm hug and her face turned serious.

She looked at Ryuen, clearly hinting that this part was his job.

"Uh (⊙o⊙)..." Ryuen was speechless. He didn’t expect Daisy to dump the task on him so directly.

Daisy kept staring at him like she was waiting for him to move.

Ryuen let out a sigh. "Daisy, you could’ve done this yourself. Just use your Devil Fruit power to swap the air out from inside, right?"

He looked at her like she was an idiot.

"Oh, right~" Daisy acted like she just realized something and gave a sheepish smile. "Ahahaha, I forgot I could do that. Well, guess I don’t need you after all, dummy captain."

Daisy rolled her eyes at Ryuen.

"Uh (⊙o⊙)..." Ryuen froze for a second. So she was just messing with him?

"Hahahaha~~~"

"Dummy captain~"

"Stupid Ryuen..." The others joined in, laughing as their voices echoed through the cold air.

By the time Ryuen snapped out of it, Nami had already taken Daisy and left, while the others were busy setting up camp.

Ryuen shook his head helplessly and went to help with the camp setup.

The lab on the island was on the frozen side of Punk Hazard. Its huge steel doors were sealed in ice, keeping the poisonous gas locked inside.

Nami and Daisy stepped out of their alternate space and looked around in awe.

The lab was massive, much bigger than they expected. The documents they’d seen earlier had recorded the many experiments that had taken place inside.

Only a genius like Vegapunk could’ve come up with and carried out such wild ideas.

"Let’s get started," Nami said softly.

"Yeah~" Daisy nodded.

They both put on protective suits. After all, they were about to deal with poison gas.

"Room!"

Once they were suited up, Daisy got to work.

She placed a bottle inside the lab, used her ability to fill it with the gas, and then swapped the bottle back out.

Daisy held up the glass bottle full of poison gas and nodded to Nami.

Nami nodded back, opened a space portal, and they both vanished from in front of the lab doors, quickly reappearing back at the beach camp.

"How did it go?"

"Did you get the gas?" Robin asked while helping them take off their protective suits.

The others stopped what they were doing and looked over.

"Phew~"

"Of course we did. Look, we’ve got it." Daisy let out a breath and lifted the bottle in her hand with a grin.

Everyone looked at the bottle in Daisy’s hand. The gas inside was still a light yellow color.

"That’s great! It’s all up to you now, Daisy. Once you figure out a way to neutralize this poison gas, I’ll make you tons of delicious food!" Anya said happily.

"Hehehe~"

"Then it’s a deal. Nami, bring out my lab," Daisy said with a grin.

Nami nodded, then opened the alternate space again, pulling out a small lab—Daisy’s personal lab.

With everyone watching, Daisy walked into the lab holding the glass bottle. ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

"I believe in Daisy. She learned medicine from Dr. Kureha and even got all the notes and research Dr. Kureha collected over the years," Ryuen said with confidence.

"I believe in her too!" Nojiko said firmly.

Everyone else nodded in agreement. Then they got back to setting up camp, while Anya started preparing food for the day.
