Phoenix Revenge System-Chapter 114: PRS 17 Liona
After the celebration, knowing that all the cakes they received were homemade by Lura, cake orders began to pour in. The Laus family’s home phone hardly ever stopped ringing every day.
"Mom, there’s another call! An order for five rainbow cakes!" Leo shouted from the living room.
"Write it down first, Leo! I’ll take care of it later!" replied Lura from the kitchen while continuing to stir the batter.
In addition to their delicious taste, their beautiful appearance also attracted many people, especially the rainbow cake slices and foam pudding with rolled cake in the middle, which were in high demand as dishes for guests at institutions and other large events. The colorful cakes are a feast for the eyes.
"Mom, the sub-district head said there will be a big event next week, and she ordered twenty servings of foam pudding," reported Lan, carrying the order slip.
"My goodness, that’s a lot. Okay, I’ll prepare it," replied Lura, counting the ingredients.
Not only were those two beautiful cakes the favorites, but the rice noodle pancakes, which were cheaper than the rainbow cake and foam pudding, became famous and sold like hotcakes after being placed in the school canteen.
Besides being affordable, tasty, and filling, many people bought them not just as snacks but also as side dishes, forcing Lura to produce 200 pieces every morning. Her hands hardly ever stop frying since dawn.
"Mom, the martabak is sold out again! The kids were fighting over it in the cafeteria earlier," Lano said enthusiastically after school.
"Wow, thank God it’s selling well. Tomorrow I’ll increase production," replied Lura with a tired but happy face.
Some people have tried to make it because it is considered easy, but they cannot achieve the same crispy skin and spicy filling because they do not have the curry powder and mushroom broth.
"Mr. Rusdi said he also tried to make martabak, but he said the taste was very different," whispered one of Lura’s neighbors at the market.
"Yes, everyone has their own recipe, ma’am," Lura replied diplomatically with a smile.
Liona, who could only produce powdered goods from her dimensional space, converted several liquid cooking spices there into ready-to-use powders, such as curry powder, rawon powder, soto powder, rica-rica powder, and various other cooking spices, including white, red, and yellow base spices.
In fact, they had even bought off some of the women who worked in the Laus household to reveal all the processes, methods, and recipes that the Laus family possessed, but still they couldn’t get the same taste, leaving their competitors frustrated.
"What is this, sir! How much money have we spent to pay them to talk, but not a single one of them can give us the information we want! Our money is wasted!" said Katmini angrily as she slammed her fist on the table.
"Be patient, Ma’am. Don’t get emotional," said Rusdi, trying to calm her down, even though his face also looked annoyed.
"How can I be patient? We’ve spent a lot of capital, but our business is still slow! People prefer to buy from Lura! It’s so embarrassing!" snapped Katmini, her face red with anger.
"Calm down, Mom. This time, I’ve asked Oda to try to go to Laus’s production site. If possible, I’ll ask him to steal the powder used in their cassava chips. Oda is smart, he can definitely do it," said Rusdi confidently because his nephew, Oda, had never disappointed him before.
"Are you sure, sir? Don’t let anyone find out. Otherwise, we’ll be the ones in trouble," said Katmini with a worried tone, but her eyes sparkled with hope.
"Just trust Oda. He has helped us many times before. He will surely succeed this time too," Rusdi said confidently, nodding his head.
The husband and wife with evil intentions were unaware that their crime had been caught by Liona.
"Ugh, these bad people just keep doing it. This time, he even dared to tell his nephew to steal our sprinkles. Since they’ve already entered, how about we teach them a lesson so they’ll learn their lesson," Liona muttered to herself with a sly smile.
Leo and Lan, who were with Liona doing their homework, also felt angry at Rusdi and his wife for constantly interfering with their business.
"Liona, they’re really out of line. They’re already rich, yet they’re still jealous of us," said Leo in an annoyed tone as he scribbled in his notebook.
"Yes, sis. Mom and dad work so hard. They even want to steal the fruits of our labor," added Lan with a frown.
Just because they were better off than the Laus family, seeing their neighbors succeed and start building a brick house, envy arose in their hearts. The Laus house, which used to be simple, was now starting to become nicer and sturdier.
Without their parents’ knowledge, Leo and Lan mixed up some spices to make a trap for Oda.
"How about it, Mas, is this enough? Or is it too little?" asked Lan, asking for his opinion while showing him the amount of spice she had mixed.
"It’s enough!" said Leo and Liona in unison.
"We’ll teach her a lesson so she’ll learn her place," added Leo with a grin.
"Let her see what happens if she dares to steal!" replied Lan enthusiastically.
After Lan and Leo’s spice mixture was ready, they put it in a half-kilo plastic bag and sealed it neatly.
"Oh, that evil girl is here!" Liona shouted silently while signaling to her two older siblings.
"She’s here already? She’s fast," Leo whispered to Lan.
"Let’s just pretend to be busy so she doesn’t get suspicious," Lan replied softly.
After observing that the area was quiet, Leo placed the neatly wrapped seasoning mix made by his second sister on a long wooden bench, between several large airtight plastic jars containing seasoned cassava chips that were ready to be packaged.
Sumiati, who saw Oda looking around in the kitchen of the main house, reprimanded her. "Hey, Oda, why are you here? Who are you looking for? You rarely come here," Sumiati asked suspiciously, looking at Oda closely.
"Eh, Aunt Sum. I’m looking for Grandma Nah. I want to order some peyek for the women’s social gathering. I went to her house earlier, but she said she was working here now, so I followed her here. Is Grandma Nah here, Lek?" said Oda, putting on as innocent a face as possible.
"Oh, Grandma Nah is over there, in the production kitchen. You can go straight there, through the back," said Sumiati, pointing towards the production kitchen.
Oda, who still hadn’t finished her task, didn’t move. She remained standing in place, her eyes darting around, scanning Lura’s small kitchen. Her eyes were searching for something she could take.
"Why are you still here? Hurry up and go there if you want to see Grandma Nah," said Sumiati, surprised to see Oda not moving.
Seeing Sumiati struggling to carry several large plastic jars, a cunning idea popped into her head.
"Auntie, let me help you. It’s heavy, isn’t it?" said Oda attentively as she approached Sumiati.
Sumiati, who didn’t see Oda’s cunning intentions, felt relieved. "Thank you, Oda. Please take that jar over there. The one at the end," she said, pointing her chin toward the production house where Grandma Nah and the other women worked.
"Okay, Lek. Is this the big one?" Oda asked, pretending to confirm.
"Yes, that one. Be careful, don’t drop it," Sumiati warned.
"Okay, Lek..." Oda replied quickly with a sweet smile. 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Oda hurried into Lura’s kitchen. As soon as she saw Sumiati come out carrying two large jars of chips, she suddenly saw a red package fall to the ground. It seemed that Sumiati had accidentally knocked it over when she picked up the jars.
"Wow, what a windfall," Oda muttered to herself as she looked left and right.
Feeling curious, Oda picked up the package containing red seasoning that was lying on the ground.
"Is this seasoning for their chips? I think so. What luck!" Oda thought curiously as she squeezed the plastic seasoning packet.
After looking around and seeing no one, Oda quickly put the seasoning into the pocket of her nightgown.
"Lucky I’m wearing this nightgown. The pockets are very deep and wide, so no one will know I took the seasoning. Uncle Rusdi will be so happy!" she thought to herself with a satisfied look on her face.
Not wanting to arouse Sumiati’s suspicion, Oda hurriedly took the large plastic jar to the production house. She walked quickly because she was nervous.
Seeing Oda arrive, Sumiati told her to put the jar of chips next to the women who were busy packing them into plastic bags.
"Just put it there, Oda. Thank you for your help," said Sumiati kindly.
"You’re welcome, Lek," replied Oda as he carefully placed the jar.
Feeling that he was no longer needed here, Oda immediately slapped his forehead hard. "Ouch, I forgot that my mom asked me to buy salt for cooking! Oh no, she’ll scold me later!" she said a little loudly, pretending to panic.
"Bulek, I’m going to the shop to buy salt for cooking. Mom must be waiting," said Oda, who immediately turned and left in a hurry.
"What, you’re not going to Grandma Nah’s? Didn’t you want to order some peyek?" said Sumiati, reminding her with a surprised look on her face.
"Later, Bulek. Mom is waiting for the salt at home to cook. She’ll get angry if I don’t come home. I’m scared, Lek!" said Oda, who immediately ran away as if being chased by a demon.
"Oh, you crazy/stubborn/stupid kid, your mom told you to buy salt, but you got lost and ended up here. This kid is so weird," said Sumiati, grumbling and shaking her head.
Everyone laughed when they heard Sumiati’s comments about Oda’s behavior.
"We’re not surprised anymore, mbak yu (older sister), that Oda is so careless. He’s always been like that. He’ll definitely get beaten up by his mother when he gets home," said the other mothers, giggling.
"Yes, it’s actually quite pitiful. But what can you do, she’s still a child and tends to forget things," added another mother.
"Nuryati is very strict with her children, especially Oda, who gets scolded the most," whispered another mother.
All the villagers knew how strict Nuryati, Oda’s mother, was. She would not hesitate to beat her children black and blue if they disobeyed her. And Oda, her youngest child, was the one who was most often scolded and beaten because of her careless and negligent attitude.
"Just yesterday, Oda was beaten with a broom because she forgot to buy chili for her mother," said one of the mothers while packing chips.
"Wow, that’s terrible. But Oda does often make people angry," replied another.
In addition, compared to his two older siblings, Oda was also the most daring in arguing with everything Nuryati said, so the neighbors were no strangers to hearing screams and seeing sandals flying, followed by Oda’s giggles as he ran happily, having successfully avoided his mother’s deadly blows.
"You ungrateful child! Come here!" Nuryati shouted every time Oda escaped from his mother’s pursuit.
"Sorry, Mom! I won’t forget again next time!" Oda shouted as he continued to run away from the blows, while the neighbors could only shake their heads at the familiar scene.
