Chapter 127: PRS 28 Liona

"Is everything ready?" asked a man whose body was almost entirely covered in tattoos. His voice was deep and frightening, breaking the thick silence of the night.

His subordinate, who was standing in front of him, immediately stood up straight. "Yes, boss. Everything is ready according to your instructions! The car is ready, the weapons have been checked, and the escape route has been mapped out in detail," replied his subordinate, showing him a map covered in red marks.

The tattooed man nodded in satisfaction as he lit his cigarette. Thin smoke curled from the lit end of his cigarette. "Good. Very good. I like people who work as meticulously as you do."

He took a deep drag on his cigarette, then exhaled the smoke slowly. "Tonight, make sure you don’t fail! We don’t have a second chance in this mission. Our client is very serious, and he’s paying us a very high price. Don’t disappoint him."

"Yes, boss! We will carry out this mission perfectly!" replied his subordinate with confidence.

After saying that and giving some additional instructions, the man covered in tattoos sped off in his green jeep, disappearing behind a cloud of smoke as the car sped away, leaving tire marks on the ground.

After their boss left, his men returned to the work they had been doing earlier. They double-checked all the equipment they would be using that night, making sure nothing was left behind.

"Check all the equipment again! Don’t leave anything behind!" one of them ordered.

This mission was actually not too difficult because they were already accustomed to committing crimes such as kidnapping or murder. They had handled dozens of cases, and all of them were successful without a trace. But for some reason, their boss seemed to have a feeling that their target this time was not simple, so he had to prepare two backup plans to ensure that the mission would be successful according to the client’s wishes.

"Why did the boss tell us to prepare three different scenarios? Usually, one is enough," asked one of the men in a surprised tone.

"I don’t know. But if the boss said so, there must be a reason. We’d better just follow his orders," replied another, continuing to check the weapon in his hand.

As professional hitmen disguised as a gang of thugs from the capital, the people Popox brought with him this time were very professional. They weren’t just any street criminals. These were people who had accompanied him on the run and hidden in several cities to avoid the police while accepting missions so that their lives and their families could remain secure.

"We’ve escaped from five different cities. Hopefully, in this city, we can be more relaxed," muttered one of them.

Bobi took this big step after he noticed suspicious behavior from several people who seemed to be watching him silently. He felt that there were spies following him wherever he went.

"Something’s not right. I feel like I’m being followed," he complained to Lias when they met.

So he started looking for Lias to change his plan and suggested using more professional services.

Considering how much money he would get if this mission was successful, Lias didn’t hesitate to dig deeper into his pockets as long as all these big plans could be realized immediately. He was even willing to sell some of his assets for additional capital. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎

"Money is not a problem! The important thing is that this plan succeeds! I will pay whatever it takes!" said Lias with eyes sparkling with ambition.

After careful consideration, he decided to hire Popox to execute their plan. It was a big investment, but the results would be worth it.

Meanwhile, at Lura’s parents’ house, a toddler who was exactly five months old today was sitting playing with a Rubik’s cube in her hands. Her tiny fingers deftly twisted and turned the cube, which should have been too difficult for a child her age.

Suddenly, her tiny body jerked backward as a flash of events appeared in her head. Her eyes widened, her gaze blank as she stared ahead.

This flashback was a little longer and looked very scary. Liona could clearly see the faces of the criminals, the weapons they carried, and their detailed plan. Beads of sweat as big as corn kernels began to form on Liona’s forehead. Her body trembled, her breathing became ragged.

"No... this can’t happen," she muttered with a trembling voice.

After a moment of silence, her body still stiff as a statue, Liona, who had returned to her senses, grinned sharply. Her eyes flashed with an intelligence that did not match her age.

"Oh, they’ve changed their strategy, apparently. This time, they even dared to involve professional criminals and spend a lot of money to get me. Quite interesting... it seems I have to prepare a more mature counter-strategy," she muttered with a slight smile.

Lura, who had just entered her room and heard her daughter’s muttering, frowned for a moment. There was something strange about her daughter’s tone of voice.

"What’s interesting, dear? Are you playing something exciting?" she asked suspiciously as she walked closer.

Seeing her mother approaching, Liona, who had only just learned to walk a few steps, staggered towards her with her arms outstretched. Her steps were still unsteady, her body slightly wobbly.

"Slowly, dear, be careful you don’t fall," said Lura, who immediately crouched down to help support Liona’s chubby body, which was about to fall. Her hands quickly caught her daughter’s small body.

"Mom... mom... this is serious, mom! Very serious!" said Liona, breathing heavily, her face pale and her eyes wide with fear.

Lura, seeing Liona’s tense face, also tensed up, and a bad feeling began to cloud her mind. Her heart beat faster, her hands began to tremble.

"What’s wrong, dear? Why are you so panicked? I’m scared to see your face like this," asked Lura, full of concern, as she wiped Liona’s sweat-drenched cheeks.

Liona stared intently into her mother’s eyes, her gaze intense for a five-month-old baby. "Mom, do you still remember my nightmare from the other day? The one you said was just a normal dream?"

"Yes, I still remember. I remember it very well. That dream kept me from sleeping well for several nights," Lura replied quickly, swallowing hard.

"Did you have another nightmare? Or was it worse than before?" she asked, her voice more anxious than before. Her hand gripped Liona’s tiny hand tightly.

To warn her family of the danger that was lurking, Liona had previously told them that she had had a nightmare. In her dream, an evil woman who was after her uncle’s wealth had targeted her. She would kidnap and torture her and her mother cruelly so that Januar would give in and pay the ransom they demanded.

Liona described what she saw as a dream because she couldn’t possibly say that she could predict the future. Although her family didn’t fully believe her because they could hear the toddler’s inner voice, on the surface they continued to act in the drama that Liona had created and pretended to believe her.

"We have to protect her, no matter what happens," Lura whispered to herself at that moment.

This time, to tell what she saw, Liona again revealed it as a nightmare she had just experienced.

Lura, feeling that what Liona wanted to say was very important, carefully carried her to bed and gave her a bottle of milk to drink because she saw that her daughter looked thirsty and tired after the mystical experience she had just had.

"Here, drink your milk first before you talk. Mother doesn’t want her little sister to get sick from being too tense," said Lura as she handed her the bottle of milk with a slightly trembling hand.

Liona immediately took the bottle of milk from her mother’s hand and quickly finished it. Sip after sip of milk went into her mouth greedily.

Liona’s movements and behavior were completely unlike those of a typical five-month-old baby. She held the milk bottle herself, sitting upright like a two-year-old. Her movements and responses were like those of a toddler over one year old, causing Lura to shake her head slowly once again at Liona’s cute behavior, which was becoming more and more adorable and confusing every day.

"My child is indeed special. Too special, in fact," Lura muttered to herself.

After finishing a large bottle of milk, Liona sat back up straight with a serious expression. Her face changed, no longer that of an innocent baby, but that of an adult about to say something very important. This made Lura, who was sitting next to her, become serious as well.

"What is it? Tell me slowly. I’m ready to hear whatever you want to say," said Lura as she gently held Liona’s small hand, offering her support.

Liona, realizing that what she wanted to talk about was very important, didn’t delay any longer. She took a deep breath.

"Mom, the evil woman and her brother have gone too far. They have lost their minds because of greed. This time, for the sake of their ambition, they even changed their plan and hired a hitman organization to kidnap us. Not just ordinary street thugs, Mom. But professional hitmen who have killed dozens of people!" she said with a trembling voice.

What Liona said made Lura’s eyes widen in shock. Her face turned pale instantly, her breath caught in her throat.

"What did you say! They even hired hitmen to kidnap us! Real hitmen?!" she shouted in shock as she stood up from the bed, her hands covering her wide-open mouth.

Lura’s loud scream naturally attracted the attention of her parents, who were in the living room just outside her bedroom. They were watching television when they heard the scream.

"What’s going on? Why are you screaming?" asked Atri as she ran over.

"A hitman! Who hired a hitman! This is no joke!" said Atri as she entered her daughter’s room with a panicked look on her face. Her heart was pounding at the words "hitman".

Arto, who had also run in after his wife, stood still when he saw that Lura was still in shock. His daughter’s face was pale, her body trembling.

"Lura, are you okay? What’s going on?" asked Arto worriedly as he approached his daughter.

Liona, seeing her mother, grandmother, and grandfather like that, immediately spoke up, trying to take control of the situation. "Grandma, Grandpa, you can sit here, Liona will explain everything in detail later. This is very important, so you have to listen carefully," she said in a tone that was too mature for a baby, instantly breaking everyone’s reverie.

"Oh my God, her voice is so clear," Atri whispered to Arto.

Seeing that her mother, grandmother, and grandfather were calmer and sitting on the bed with attentive faces, Liona began to tell them everything. She spoke slowly but firmly, about Lias’s changed plans, about Bobi suspecting that someone was following him, about Popox being hired at a high price, and of course, Liona blurred all the stories with the excuse of a nightmare as usual.

"So in my nightmare earlier, I saw them planning everything. There was a man with tattoos all over his body, named Popox. He is very dangerous, grandmother, grandfather. He has killed many people and the police have been chasing him for years but he always escapes," explained Liona with astonishing detail.

Everyone could get a very clear picture through Liona’s inner voice, because Liona did not reveal everything in her words. She hid the worst part, especially about the severe torture that she and her mother would experience later. The description of the torture was too terrible to say out loud.

"Oh God, they will torture you in a very cruel way," Atri thought, catching Liona’s inner voice, her eyes glistening.

Arto and Atri’s chests rose and fell with rage as they heard Liona’s inner voice revealing how brutally the Popox group would torture the mother and child so that Januar would take their threats seriously. They would torture them in an inhumane manner.

"No! I won’t let this happen!" Arto hissed, his jaw clenched.

Seeing the seriousness of the situation, Arto did not take it lightly and immediately went to the living room to call his friend in the provincial police. He walked quickly, his hands trembling as he dialed the number.

"I have to contact Gebi right now. He has to know about this," he muttered as he continued to dial the number.

Because if it was indeed Popox and the gang that Lias had hired, then the situation could be very dangerous. This was no longer a matter of market thugs, but national-level hitmen.

"Hello, Gebi? It’s me, Arto. I need your help. This is urgent!" Arto said as soon as the phone connected.

Gebi, Arto’s friend who heard the news, was very surprised. His voice sounded serious on the other end of the line. "Are you sure it’s Popox? The Popox we’ve been looking for for the past three years? You didn’t hear wrong, did you?"

"That’s right, there’s no mistake because I confirmed it myself through my trusted source. His name was clearly mentioned, Popox. And he is in city U now," Arto replied firmly, gripping the phone tightly.

In line with Liona’s story, Arto revealed all the plans he said he had heard from the person he had asked to monitor the movements of his eldest son’s former brother-in-law. He explained the details of the kidnapping plan, the time of execution, and their targets.

"They are planning to act tonight, Gebi. Tonight! We don’t have much time," added Arto urgently.

After listening carefully to his friend’s story and taking notes on a piece of paper, Gebi felt that what Arto said made sense. He himself had suspected that Popox was fleeing to City U to avoid the police.

"This is a golden opportunity to catch him. Thank you for the information, Arto. I’ll get moving right away," said Gebi.

He immediately arranged for his men to go to City U and asked them to work with the team there. The big hunt was about to begin.

"Deploy all available forces! We can’t lose track of Popox again this time!" Gebi ordered his men over the radio.

Having several people on the inside of the police force had made Popox very difficult to catch so far. There was always someone leaking information before the police made their move. This time, he was able to get his trail in an unexpected way, which he considered a great stroke of luck.

"This time you won’t get away, Popox. We’ll catch you," Gebi muttered as he put on his vest and prepared to head out into the field.

Without wasting any time, Gebi immediately mobilized his men according to the strategy he had devised. Tonight would be a long night, both for Popox and for Lura’s family.
