Picking Up Attributes From Today-Chapter 390: The Chief God Descends, Strongest In The Universe
Crack!
A crisp crack rang out, and Venus’ throat was crushed into bits. His eyes widened big and round as fury and disbelief filled them.
His fury was because Meng Lei had actually killed him, while his disbelief was because Meng Lei had actually dared to kill him.
Who was he?
He was the Nidhogg Chief God’s son!
The Nidhogg Colossal Dragon Gods’ young master!
A second-generation descendant publicly acknowledged as the most impressive people around!
Yet he had actually died in the hands of a nameless nobody that had popped out of some godforsaken place!
He couldn’t tolerate this!
Neither could he accept it!
Indignation filled Venus, but what could he do?
As the saying went, “A man dies the same way that the light goes out”.
Once he was dead, he would be dead through and through. Meng Lei casually tossed Venus’ corpse aside, gouged out his divine core, and read his memories.
Venus was the Nidhogg Chief God’s son and the lord of Venus Colossal Dragon City. Thus, he must know a lot.
“How dare you kill me!”
“How dare you kill me!”
“You knave, Father will never let you off! Neither will the Nidhogg Colossal Dragon Gods! They’ll rip you into a million pieces to avenge my deat—”
Venus roared again and again, his divine spirit energy waves brimming with immense hatred. Oh, how resentful he was!
“You’re too noisy!”
Meng Lei turned up the firepower of his attacks on Venus’ divine spirit, causing Venus to scream. At once, his divine spirit was destroyed and reduced to broken bits and pieces. And then, all was silent.
“The Nidhogg Chief God... A lesser Chief God... Venus Colossal Dragon City’s treasury...”
Various pieces of information flooded Meng Lei’s mind, among which were some about the Nidhogg Chief God, some about the Nidhogg clan, as well as some about Venus Colossal Dragon City itself...
“He’s killed the lord of the city!”
“Oh my god! He’s actually killed the lord of the city!”
“What do we do? What do we do now?”
All the deities were scared witless while Meng Lei continued to read Venus’ memories. Looks of fear and panic came over their countenances, and all of them looked as if a calamity was about to befall them.
Yes, calamity!
After all, Venus was the Nidhogg Chief God’s son!
But now... He was dead!
What was going to happen next?
Nobody dared to even think about it!
But what they could be sure of was that the Nidhogg Chief God definitely wouldn’t take things lying down, and neither would the Nidhogg clan. A bloodbath was sure to come!
Would the bloodbath implicate them? Nobody could say anything for certain, but as witnesses to Venus’ death, they were undoubtedly going to be in for a rough ride.
“A lunatic! He’s a total lunatic!”
“That bastard! He’s totally screwed us over...”
For a moment there, resentment and rancor filled the deities’ eyes as they watched Meng Lei. If looks could kill, they really wished they could rip Meng Lei into a million pieces!
Elsewhere, Meng Lei couldn’t help but smile upon successfully reading all of Venus’ memories.
Venus was just a mid-level higher deity, but as a Chief God’s son, the number of riches he had accumulated over the years and the secrets he was privy to were in no way little.
This bout of soul reading was no loss at all!
“Why did you kill him, sir?!”
Emery Philmore looked fearful as he said, “We’re doomed now. The Nidhogg Chief God will definitely kill us all! He definitely will!”
Puhaman and the others were also in somewhat of a panic. The other party was the son of a Chief God, yet their master had killed him!
What were they to do now? How were they supposed to bear the Nidhogg Chief God’s endless fury now?
They knew that their master was very strong, to the extent that he was even stronger than a Great Perfection deity. But the one they had messed with this time was a Chief God! No matter how strong their master was, was he stronger than a Chief God?
“If the Nidhogg Chief God comes, then that would be great. I’d long since wanted to meet him!”
Meng Lei gave them a slight smile, his demeanor calm and unruffled. He wasn’t bothered about the Nidhogg Chief God in the least.
“Old bro, what are we supposed to do now?”
Fatty Hart had a rather awkward look on his face as he suggested, “How about... We leave this place for now? It’s too dangerous here.”
“That’s right, that’s right! Let’s hurry and leave. A man doesn’t put himself in harm’s way. It’s better that we leave instead!”
“I also think that it’s for the better that we leave. It’s best if we can go back straight to Heaven’s Vault Continent. It’s the safest there...”
The others also spoke up one by one. They didn’t want to stay for even a moment longer. All of them could feel chills running down their spines for fear that the Nidhogg Chief God would suddenly charge right over and take their lives.
Thus, they’d better just slip away!
“A bunch of cowards!”
A contemptuous Meng Lei said, “I’m the one that killed Venus, yet I’m not even afraid, so what’s there for you to be afraid of? Besides, do you think you can even get away?”
Meng Lei’s words made all of them feel ashamed of themselves. However, when they heard the last part of his response, their expressions changed slightly, and they asked, “What do you mean by that, Master?”
Meng Lei then raised his head to the sky with the corners of his lips slightly curled upward. “He’s already here!”
“He’s here? Who’s here?”
Everyone was a little stupefied.
Then, they sensed the abrupt appearance of an incredibly terrifying aura shooting toward them at an unimaginably high speed.
Fast!
It was simply too fast! One could no longer use “speed” as a descriptor anymore. Rather... It was teleportation!
Yes, teleportation!
The terrifying aura reached them a brief moment later. Upon arriving, it erupted into the surroundings with great momentum, sweeping through all directions and wantonly ravaging the people’s hearts and souls.
Thud!
Thud!
Thud!
Unsurprisingly, everyone aside from Meng Lei was flattened to the ground.
The city guards watching over the valley, the deities that had assembled here, and even the divine beasts inhabiting the Coiling Dragon Mountain Range were all flattened to the ground!
“W-what fearsome pressure and might!”
“A Chief God’s aura!”
“Oh my god! This is a Chief God’s aura!”
“A Chief God!!”
All the deities became incredibly fearful at once—they had already guessed who the Chief God that had just arrived was. Who else could it be other than the Nidhogg Chief God whose son had just been killed?
“He’s doomed! That guy’s doomed! The Nidhogg Chief God is going to rip him into a million pieces!”
“I just hope he doesn’t take his anger out on us innocents...”
Filled with fear, everyone started to pray inwardly.
“What do we do now, everyone?”
“What else can we do? Nothing!”
“Now that things have reached such a pass, we can only pin our hopes on Master!”
“Please watch over us, Master...”
Puhaman and the others were also incredibly alarmed and panic-stricken, but they were more nervous and uneasy than terrified in comparison. They knew that their master was very strong and that he was even stronger than a Great Perfection deity.
However, they had no idea exactly how strong he was and whether or not he could rival a Chief God—this was exactly what they were uneasy about.
“Is Master a Chief God or not?”
Puhaman and the others were constantly wondering to themselves.
“You sure came really quickly. As expected of a Chief God!”
Meng Lei slowly raised his head. The corners of his lips curled upward slightly into a smile as he gazed at the muscular entity currently unleashing his fearsome aura without any restraints.
“A Chief God divine core is a fragment of a Heart of The Existential Plane. In some sense, those that become Chief Gods by refining Chief God divine cores can also be considered an existential plane’s master,” Moro’s voice sounded in Meng Lei’s mind as he said, “And in their own existential plane, a Chief God will naturally be able to manipulate Power of Existential Plane to teleport to places.”
“Indeed!”
Meng Lei nodded slightly in response. He didn’t know where the Nidhogg Colossal Dragon Gods’ base was, but he surmised that it must be a great distance of at least several hundred, or a thousand, light years away from where they currently were.
Yet the Nidhogg Chief God had hurried over in just the short span of a few minutes. From this, one could tell just how fast his traveling speed had been!
“Who... was the one that killed my child?”
A voice imbued with boundless awe-inspiring might rang out. It wasn’t loud and even sounded very calm and peaceful, but in spite of that, no one could muster any thoughts of putting up any resistance at all.
This was... The sound of a Chief God!
The most powerful sound in the universe!
