Picking Up Attributes In Martial World-Chapter 106: Gale Pressure Chamber
When a fantasy reader reads about a fantasy world, they get curious about everything in it. Like how it works, what laws govern the world, how the power system affects people’s lives, and various things a fantasy world could have that are different from the normal world.
That was one major reason why fantasy novels attracted those readers. Ye Jun was no different. He read those novels for escapism, but also because they fascinated him.
Now that he was in a cultivation world, he found himself wanting to know more about it, uncover the secrets and mysteries, to know everything.
So, even though there were many problems on his head, like the dream about the world ending, or how to deal with the Ye Clan as he hadn’t forgotten them, he could never ignore this curiosity.
Not to mention, he also needed to think about the Song Clan. Song Liangxue might have accepted him readily, but it wasn’t the case for the Song Clan. He had no clue about them, but he was worried they would judge their relationship.
There was more, but he cared little about it.
Currently, all he wanted was to learn more about the world, the power system, his own system, and how he could get more powerful using all of that.
The Fire Hall was a good start, as it gave him some new things and also increased his affinity. He would definitely visit it again.
After leaving the Fire Hall, he decided to check out other facilities, and that led him towards the Gale Pressure Chamber, the second-best thing about the sect, apparently.
Or was it third?
’Whatever.’
He had heard about it just in passing. Every sect had some strength or attraction that made disciples join them instead of other sects, or even go rogue.
For White Gale Pavilion, that was the special domain left behind by their predecessor. Unfortunately, it was too powerful and dangerous even for the elders, so disciples couldn’t train using it directly.
But humans were a crafty bunch. They found ways to utilize the said domain to help the disciples.
One such way lay in this Gale Pressure Chamber, a tall, circular stone structure that was definitely the most majestic thing he had witnessed in this sect. It felt like an ancient mausoleum.
He entered it after getting through the manager. Walking in the stone corridor, he thought, ’Three floors, huh.’
Unlike the training halls for elements, this structure didn’t provide rooms for disciples. There were three halls in total, stacked on top of each other.
The ground floor was called the Outer Section, the first floor being the Inner Section, and the highest floor being the Core Section. The difficulty increased with each floor.
As for how, he would have to find out himself since the manager didn’t tell him anything. He had too much work, though Ye Jun doubted it. After all, the Gale Pressure Chamber wasn’t something anyone could access.
The Outer Section’s price alone was twenty contribution points, while the Inner Section was forty, and the Core Section was a whopping eighty contribution points, just for a single hour inside.
It really made him curious as to why this was so hyped and expensive.
Soon, he found familiar gates before him, so he pressed the jade stone against them, which soon opened them. It made him wonder though, which realm powerhouse could destroy this?
He was certain he couldn’t do it.
’I really wanted to see the Inner Section. They will have better attribute points.’
Sadly, he wasn’t allowed to. The upper sections only opened up after he passed certain requirements that lay inside.
Taking a deep breath, he entered the room and was almost blasted away by the sudden gust of wind. He steeled himself on the stone floor and pushed himself inside.
For a moment, he couldn’t open his eyes as the wind was rapidly pushing him away, as if offended that he dared to enter. Still, he held his ground and then opened his eyes.
’This is... interesting.’
The inside was a vast circular hall with a tall black pillar at the center connecting the floor with the ceiling. Surrounding the black pillar were more than thirty students, all standing in different positions.
’Struggling is a better word.’
Ye Jun also held the wall behind to stabilize himself and thought, ’So the first section is basically trying to push us? I doubt it’s that.’ 𝗳𝐫𝚎𝗲𝚠𝚎𝗯𝕟𝐨𝘃𝚎𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺
He didn’t think it would be so simple, so he didn’t immediately try to enter the fray even though the attribute bubbles attracted him. His heart bled seeing them disappear, but something else was more important.
Ye Jun stayed in his position for a few minutes, studying everyone else, what they were trying to do and what they actually achieved, all while trying to get used to the wind currents.
’Adaptation!’ he exclaimed mildly, almost forgetting that he had this skill.
It was coming into use, as he was getting more stable despite the currents trying to throw him off balance and slam him into the stone wall. Good skill!
’As I expected, my initial judgment was wrong,’ Ye Jun thought, as he watched the disciples struggling to keep their posture. Nobody was trying to rush towards the black pillar.
’It is a training field, idiot. Not a competition.’
Soon, he had a guess what this hall achieved. Stability. Balance. That was all. Simple, but a very important part of a battle. One needed stability, physically and mentally, to win a fight; otherwise, even a minor slip could lead to death.
For example, if one was fighting against an opponent with Earth affinity, their opponent could create minor changes in the terrain at will, shaking off their balance, which would lead to their death.
But this hall trained you for that.
The black pillar sent gusts of wind and also controlled the wind currents. Everything tried to knock one off balance, and disciples needed to learn to remain stable even in these conditions.
Often, air would burst out from underground, knocking people high. Without a base to hold themselves, the disciples would find themselves helpless, and the horizontal wind currents would throw them backward.
Everything was designed to keep you far away from the black pillar, the source of all the winds.
