Chapter 56: Rewards For Each Step

The increased gravity on the first step was enough to crush a mundane human’s bones into dust. Only someone with a strong physique could withstand such force.

Ye Jun doubted even Body Strengthening Realm Martial Artists could survive the further steps if even the first step was enough to make them struggle.

Qi Condensation Realm Cultivators were different, as they had already refined their physique and could also use their Qi to temporarily enhance their bodies.

Though Ye Jun didn’t have any problems on the first step. He didn’t even struggle despite not using Qi.

’It’s probably related to my strange physique.’

His Yang Seed Innate Physique made his body stronger. Not to mention his stats had gone beyond the limit, clearly showing his superiority over others in terms of physique.

Everyone stayed on the first step for a minute, taking their time to adjust to the gravity as they knew it would probably increase from the second step onward.

But not Ye Jun. He stayed to observe the burial chamber.

’Are there more traps?’

Somehow, he was still not convinced that the tomb was so simple. There had to be some reason why such a powerful formation protected this tomb.

’And what even is here?’

His eyes went toward the coffin sitting at the chamber’s center. A simple wooden coffin with strange glyphs formed over it, depicting yet another story of the man’s life.

Ye Jun quickly went through it but didn’t think it was of any importance. He just kept it in his mind in case it turned out to be useful later.

’Anything else?’

He couldn’t find any other traps nor sense any danger. The only strange thing about this chamber was the stairs and the coffin. There was something eerie about that tomb.

’What is that?’ Ye Jun spotted something at the end of the first step. Curious, he walked over to the edge and found a pristine white bone kept in the wall’s cavity.

He took it out carefully and raised an eyebrow. The bone likely came from a Spiritual Beast’s limb judging from its structure and not just any normal beast.

’This aura... it was at least Tier 2 while alive. Interesting.’

"Did you discover something?" Xie Yan asked, coming over toward him.

"Check the other end," Ye Jun said, standing up. "I think each step will give us a reward. The first step being a Tier 2 Spiritual creature’s limb bone."

It could be drafted into an Artifact, though not of a higher Tier.

"I was right," Ye Jun turned around. "It’s a trial ground for his inheritance. That senior probably left behind these rewards in case people couldn’t make it to the bottom."

When people on other stairs heard his words, they hurriedly checked their corners and sure enough, they found different kinds of rewards.

"Wow! Senior actually left behind Spirit Stones."

"They’re Low-Grade."

"It’s more than enough for me."

"I got pills. Yellow-Rank Healing Pills."

"They are mine! Give them to me and I’ll spare your life."

"Who are you to pass judgment on my life? Heck, your mother had bad judgment when she decided to give birth to you."

Each step had two rewards, but some contained more than two people, so they began to fight for them. Only the rogue participants fought openly.

The main clans had an understanding between them.

Now, they looked greedily at the bottom steps. They didn’t know if they could get the main treasure, but even these rewards would make the trip worth it.

’Look at you forgetting the deaths of your companions so quickly after getting benefits.’ Ye Jun shook his head and threw the bone into his space bag.

Then, he jumped down to the second step, a sudden crushing force pulling him downward. The gravity was incredible yet again, a lot more than the previous one.

’This is good!’ Ye Jun grinned. ’If I can practice in a place like this, then I’ll improve so much.’

And then the best part...

[Qi +2]

[Endurance +2]

He got to collect the attributes. The more people struggled, the better it was for him.

’Good!’ Ye Jun adjusted to the gravity, though it still felt odd walking in it. It felt as if a giant boulder was bound to his legs and he had to carry it everywhere.

Then, he went looking for the reward on his right while Xie Yan took the left side. Seeing what he found, Ye Jun got confused as he couldn’t identify it.

It was a pack of incense with a floral fragrance.

’If it is here, then it’s definitely not ordinary.’

Thinking that, he threw it into the space bag and jumped to the third step, much to everyone’s amazement as they were still struggling to adjust to the changes.

’Adaptation is such a cheat skill.’

Granted, his unique physique played a big part.

’This shit is so ass!’ Ye Jun gritted his teeth as his knee slammed onto the stone step. The pressure pulling him down increased by such a margin that he couldn’t adjust to it immediately.

Still, he pulled himself back up and stood upright. The pressure was getting too much, as his knees struggled greatly to support his weight. But he forced himself to endure.

Then, he walked over to the edge slowly while giving glances at others. It was as he had expected; they saw his descent as a competition and jumped down without properly adjusting to the gravity.

As expected, most of the rogue participants couldn’t endure it and went down on their knees, their faces turning pale as blood struggled to reach their brains.

The same went for the Tang Clan and Ye Clan. Many of their members struggled against the crushing pressure. It was clear that if they continued, they would injure themselves greatly.

So, Tang Haoren and Ye Chen quickly issued orders for them to leave. Xie Yan also dismissed one of her clansmen, whose face had turned red from the pressure.

Now, only twelve participants remained in the burial chamber.

Three from each main clan, including their leaders. Two rogue participants and Ye Jun.

Ye Jun ignored others’ reactions and went to see his reward.

’Can I sell them? I need money. I wanna become rich.’
