Chapter 59: Battle Of Brothers

Ye Chen’s expression darkened after the first clash.

The shallow wound on his back burned as wind Qi circulated violently around his body. The currents sharpened, forming faint green streams that revolved around him like obedient serpents.

’Wind Affinity.’

Ye Jun watched him silently. He didn’t rush forward to attack again.

In assassination, impatience killed more people than weakness. He had learned that long ago.

The gravity pressing down on them distorted movement slightly, but Ye Jun had already adapted. His breathing slowed, shoulders relaxed while his gaze fixed on Ye Chen’s center of mass rather than the weapon itself.

Meihui had drilled many lessons into him during their training, and he remembered them well.

Wind users were quite deceptive. Their bodies never moved first; the wind did. They could control it according to their whims.

’He is strong.’

Technically, Ye Jun could do the same with his Fire Affinity, but his Qi control wasn’t good enough for that yet. Meanwhile, his younger brother had been practicing with his powers for a long time and had become proficient with them.

Ye Chen vanished again.

A sharp whistle cut through the air as a blade descended from above. Ye Jun shifted sideways using Stone Step Footwork, the sword grazing past his shoulder and smashing into the stone ground.

Chunks of stone fragments scattered everywhere.

Before Ye Chen could retract the blade, Ye Jun stepped inside his range and struck using Coiled Tendon Strike.

His palm snapped toward Ye Chen’s elbow joint.

Wind Qi erupted defensively around Ye Chen, but the impact still landed. The Mysterious Technique had also leveled up, becoming something new, something more powerful.

It forced Ye Chen to stagger half a step back. That half step told Ye Jun everything.

’He isn’t comfortable under this gravity.’

Neither was he, but Ye Jun had adapted better to the circumstances.

Ye Chen recovered instantly and swept his sword horizontally. A crescent of wind shot forward, slicing through the air with terrifying speed.

Ashen Phantom Steps.

Ye Jun’s figure blurred, leaving behind fading heated afterimages as the wind blade tore through empty space.

He reappeared behind Ye Chen, his dagger thrust directly toward the kidney as the Slaughter Dao made its blade sharper and more deadly. His intense killing intent fed it continuously.

Ye Chen twisted unnaturally again, wind lifting his body just enough to avoid a fatal strike. The dagger still cut across his waist, drawing another line of blood as the man grimaced in pain.

Ye Chen retreated several meters, his eyes cold.

"You’ve learned to fight, bastard," he admitted. "But demonic tricks won’t save you. It’s just been a month for you, but I’ve always been above you."

Wind gathered beneath his feet again. This time the air itself seemed to tremble under his control.

Ye Jun felt his instincts scream, sensing the impending danger.

Ye Chen raised his sword, and the surrounding wind condensed along the blade until it hummed sharply, almost invisible to the naked eye.

Then he moved. Not a dash this time. It was a burst as the distance between them vanished instantly.

Ye Jun crossed his dagger in time. The collision exploded with force, pushing him backward across the First Step. His boots scraped against stone as gravity amplified the impact.

His arms felt numb as he shook off the impact and looked up at Ye Chen.

Strong.

Much stronger than the previous exchanges.

Ye Chen pressed forward relentlessly, sword thrusts arriving like a storm. Each strike carried cutting wind intent that forced Ye Jun to defend rather than counterattack.

Fortunately, his reaction speed, instincts, and enhanced physique allowed him to defend against all of them without suffering a single injury.

Steel clashed repeatedly.

Ye Jun retreated two steps, then three under the continuous assault, but his eyes remained firm and calm. He was observing everything carefully to understand more about the Mysterious Techniques being used.

Ye Chen’s attacks were faster, but they followed a rhythm. A pattern. Every third strike relied heavily on wind acceleration.

’Predictable then.’

He quickly used Hunter’s Focus as it sharpened his perception immediately. The next thrust came, and this time Ye Jun didn’t block it.

He simply stepped forward instead.

The sword grazed past his side as he entered Ye Chen’s blind zone. His shoulder slammed into Ye Chen’s chest, breaking the attacking rhythm completely.

’Crushing Mountain Fist.’

Qi surged through his arm as his fist struck upward into Ye Chen’s ribs, delivering a powerful impact that rattled his bones.

A dull shock echoed in the silent burial chamber.

Ye Chen was blasted backward, sliding across the stone before stabilizing himself with wind Qi. Still, he stumbled onto his knees as, for the first time, genuine shock appeared on his face.

His body still shivered from the terrifying force that had almost snapped his bones.

Ye Jun exhaled slowly, rotating his wrist. He cursed mentally, ’What is this bastard made of? Even boulders aren’t this strong.’

Blood dripped from his sleeve, but his stance remained steady.

"You talk too much," Ye Jun chuckled coldly. "Stealing that from me too?"

Wind roared louder around Ye Chen as he glared at him hatefully. Even as the pain in his back and ribs pulsed through his body, the only thing he could see was Ye Jun’s hateful face.

"I will kill you, bastard!"

The killing intent between them thickened as they both readied themselves for another round of battle. This time, they wouldn’t back down unless they crushed the other to death.

"You keep calling me a bastard," Ye Jun sneered in disdain. "But you’re the real bastard among us."

"Shut your damned mouth!" Ye Chen roared in anger.

Ye Jun smiled, knowing he was pressing the right nerve. "My mother was the matriarch, while your mother was a whore who climbed onto my father’s bed. Heh, you’re born of an affair. You’re a mistake."

Ye Chen had more experience as a Cultivator, but they were fighting a battle to the death. And Ye Jun had experience killing people of all types, including people like Ye Chen.

’Anger is the enemy of rationality,’ he smiled inwardly. ’And I just need you to give in to your anger.’

Fortunately, people like Ye Chen were easy to provoke.

Noticing his bloodshot eyes, Ye Jun licked his lips and said, "And you know, after this battle, I’m going to get engaged to Song Liangxue as the Young Master of the Ye Clan. Then, I’ll spend a blissful night with her."

That was the nail in the coffin.
