Picking Up Attributes In Martial World-Chapter 84: Grand Genesis Foundation Sutra
Coming back ashore was going to be a problem. Ye Jun knew that as he didn’t know how to walk on water like Song Liangxue. Swimming was an option, but he didn’t want to take her back completely wet again.
Fortunately, Song Ying came after seeing the aftermath and took them back to the camp where they took a bath again to refresh themselves. Especially Song Liangxue.
Meihui also joined them soon, having donned the disguise of Rong Hua once again. While she could trust Song Liangxue and her aunt, she couldn’t do the same for the guards.
Especially since there were techniques which allowed memory checking and more things like Soul Checking.
She didn’t want to take any risks.
Stopping before him, she handed over a thick scroll with fatigue clear in her eyes. Ye Jun knew at one glance that she must have worked hard all night on something that was enough to tire out even her.
’Or maybe it’s the old injuries affecting her,’ he took the scroll silently, wondering. ’Is this the Cultivation Manual she was speaking about?’
Before he could ask, she said, "Let’s go inside. We’ll discuss it there."
He nodded and followed her back into the room they spent last night in. Surprisingly, Song Liangxue was already there, waiting for them. She was still exhausted, but still had enough energy left to move around.
Taking a seat, Meihui said, "As you can guess already, it is the Cultivation Manual I meant to give you."
"This big?" He raised an eyebrow.
"It’s the first part of it," Meihui said, having a wry smile. "Even though it took me hours. I also had to strain my memory so that I don’t make any mistakes. Even a tiny one could have severe consequences."
"Can I see?" Song Liangxue asked.
Ye Jun shrugged and tossed it to her. Meihui didn’t seem to mind as well.
After having a quick look, Song Liangxue said, "It’s very risky and pretty useless for others."
"Uhh, can you guys please explain it to me?" Ye Jun asked.
"Its name is Grand Genesis Foundation Sutra," Meihui explained. "It was in my clan’s Treasure Pavilion. I chanced upon it and learnt that it was ignored by most, so I got curious and read it many times."
She scratched her cheek lightly, looking away. "I had that habit."
’Cute.’ Both Ye Jun and Song Liangxue thought at the same time.
Meihui shook her head and began to explain seriously.
"Apparently, it was a Middle-Grade Heaven Rank cultivation manual at its peak, but then it got lost in the passage of time before my clan found it. Sadly, by that time only three parts were left of the original five. I’ve read two parts, as the third one wasn’t available to me."
"If it wasn’t used by others, then why did they keep the third one a secret?" Ye Jun asked.
"Don’t ask me. I never understood my clan," she replied with a bitter smile. "In any case, the reason nobody used it was because of its incomplete nature and also because it’s a very slow process."
She gestured at it and continued.
"The progression is very slow with this cultivation manual, enough to make even the most patient person frustrated. Some people even said cultivators died before reaching higher realms."
Ye Jun was speechless. Considering cultivators lived long lives, it was a miracle the manual killed them before breaking through. Was it true or just exaggeration?
"It compensates for the slow process though. The foundation becomes so good that one never experiences bottlenecks," Meihui said with a glint in her eyes. "If you don’t know, bottlenecks are one of the major reasons why cultivators remain stuck in their realms all their lives."
"That is truly impressive," Song Liangxue said, surprised as well. "A cultivation manual granting no bottlenecks is a treasure even the Imperial Family would like to have. How did your clan come into possession of it?"
"I can’t speak about my clan," Meihui sighed. "And as I’ve said, we only have three parts of it so you will reach a bottleneck eventually. It’s inevitable."
"Oh, that’s true."
"Fortunately, the cultivation manual also gives you a massive boost in your prowess," Meihui said. "If you can cultivate it properly, there would hardly be any cultivators who could match you in the same realm. Perhaps it might even allow you to fight across realms."
"You’re tempting me," Ye Jun growled, looking at the scroll hungrily. "This is made for me."
"I thought the same," Meihui smiled. "It doesn’t matter if the progression is slow since you don’t rely on cultivation manuals to advance anyway. Its main weakness has been solved by your innate physique."
"And it counter helps too," Song Liangxue said. "His innate physique gives him a very weak foundation, so this cultivation manual would compensate for that and give him a better foundation."
Ye Jun finally understood why Meihui insisted on giving him this manual. It suited him perfectly, so much that he doubted it was just a coincidence. But there was no explanation, so he ignored it for the time being.
"But I must warn you," Meihui said, her voice turning stern. "It will be very painful and difficult. Not to mention it’s incomplete so you’ll have to change it in the future."
Ye Jun smiled and shifted closer to her, taking her by surprise. With only a few inches between their faces, he could feel her warm breath on his face, which made him smile and her even more embarrassed.
"Pain is an old friend and I always liked to play hell mode in every game," Ye Jun whispered.
Meihui shivered and pushed him away. Getting to her feet, she stumbled toward the door and shouted, "Hmph! Stop flirting before your fiancée, you damn womanizer."
"Don’t worry, I have permission," Ye Jun laughed seeing her angry face. Then he calmed down and said, "Seriously though, thank you so much for this. I’m very grateful and have no idea how I can ever repay you."
Meihui paused, hesitant. She licked her lips and said, looking directly into his eyes, "There is something you can help me with. I’ll tell you when the time comes, so can I ask then?"
"Anytime you want," Ye Jun said without any hesitation.
A beautiful smile bloomed on her face. "That’s good then. Really good."
