Picking Up Attributes In Martial World-Chapter 88: Freedom
"So we’re going to walk to the sect?"
"Just follow me." Han Yuexin waved her hand in dismissal and continued to walk.
She led their group away from the city, traveling further deep into the Black Wind Wildlands. But she wouldn’t tell them about the destination.
Whenever they asked, she would just flash a smile.
They crossed a few sections which Ye Jun was unfamiliar with, as he hadn’t ventured further north in the Wildlands. Still, they followed her, suppressing their curiosity.
Soon, they reached a vast clearing with a gray boulder at the center.
As if sensing their arrival, the gray boulder moved as it finally dawned on them it wasn’t a boulder, but a big spiritual creature.
"A Tempest Crown Falcon," Song Liangxue said, crossing her arms. "I didn’t expect to see it with you."
"He’s my dear friend," Han Yuexin said before she ran off toward the Falcon happily.
Ye Jun studied the giant beast silently. A massive falcon towering over them with pale blue eyes and deep steel-gray wings which it spread upon seeing Han Yuexin.
’Damn, they are long. Must be more than sixteen meters at least.’ Ye Jun marveled at the sight.
Its claws were big and strong enough to crush large rocks easily, though its most noticeable feature was a crown-like ridge of feathers sitting above its head, which he guessed gave it the name Tempest Crown.
A leather saddle frame was tied on its back with straps and guard rails for the riders.
As they got closer, the Falcon eyed them before looking away. Han Yuexin patted its underside and said, "Ignore his manners. He’s a little too proud."
"Hmm. Can handle my weight." Mountain nodded in satisfaction.
"I’m curious, are we the only ones you recruited?" Ye Jun asked, as he hadn’t seen anyone till now.
"I’ve made arrangements for them," Han Yuexin said. "Only the most talented ones can ride with me, so this time it’s you four."
She jumped and landed easily on the Falcon’s back. She said, "Come on. We have a long journey ahead."
One by one, all of them joined her. Mountain once again surprised Ye Jun with his agility and strength. Even with that giant-like body, he was fast and easily covered the high distance.
The ladies meanwhile were far more elegant and carried themselves with poise. It really showed their noble upbringings clearly.
’They do it unconsciously. Manners and stuff were drilled into them.’
Ye Jun could also act like a noble, as he had used those acts to assassinate a few people in his past life, but he liked to remain casual more.
Both of them sat down calmly, which made Ye Jun guess that it wasn’t their first time having a ride like this. Fortunately, there was someone to share his joy of this new experience.
Mountain was equally excited about it.
"Ts the first time I will ride a beast," he said, taking out a new bag of small red fruits. He offered it to Han Yuexin. "Please feed him. An appreciation for giving us a ride."
Han Yuexin nodded and fed the fruits to the Falcon who chugged down the entire bag in one go. After a few seconds, he screeched loudly, flapping his wide wings.
"Hehe! He liked them!" Han Yuexin giggled softly. "Shall we take off?"
Ye Jun nodded in response.
The Falcon flapped his wings wildly, as gusts of wind thrashed things around the clearing and then he launched himself in an upward dive. In seconds, the beast was high in the air and continued to soar higher.
Ye Jun grabbed the platform’s sides to steady himself as the wind slapped his face mercilessly. Still, he had a grin on his face as he enjoyed the thrill of leaving the ground far below.
’This is so different from airplanes. Even skydiving can’t compare to this experience.’
He ignored his friends since they were sitting on the sides and talking to each other. They didn’t know how to appreciate such a ride, so he turned toward Mountain.
"How is it?" he asked.
"Valanic! Haha!" Mountain laughed loudly and said. "Meaning thrilling in lowlanders’ language."
The Wildlands below became smaller and smaller. They could see Bright Star City too, sprawling between the Wildlands like a speck of dust.
’So small.’
It really was small compared to the entirety of the Black Wind Wildlands. But then again, these Wildlands were the biggest Wildlands in all of Xuanwu, this world he had transmigrated into.
Finally, the Falcon leveled itself and began to fly horizontally across the sky. Though Ye Jun was curious what would have happened if they ascended higher. They were already a few kilometers above the ground after all.
’This is something I can only experience in this world,’ Ye Jun smiled, looking down at the vast blanket of greenery with different patches of color.
He felt incredibly happy that he had transmigrated into this world. Although he wouldn’t consider himself an adrenaline junkie, he liked experiencing thrilling things like these.
"I assume it’s your first time," Han Yuexin asked, coming close to them. "I was so thrilled when my father took me to the skies, so I can understand your feelings."
"Fresh air!" Mountain inhaled deeply and sighed in bliss. "Feels better. Lowlanders have filthy air."
"Consuming shit immunizes you to it," Ye Jun said. "So technically it’s better to live down on the lowlands, as you call it."
"Meh! Will never like it!"
Ye Jun shook his head, as he couldn’t really understand the difference. He wondered if it was because he didn’t have affinity with the Wind Dao.
He glanced to his right and raised an eyebrow in surprise. Two bubbles glowed there, enticing him to pick them up. And that’s what he did.
[Wind +1]
[Taming +1]
’Now this is interesting.’
A smile formed on his lips as he enjoyed the view with more vigor. This trip was already worth it with these two bubbles which he quickly confirmed belonged to the affinity type.
’Finally, two new Dao affinities.’
Feeling the air hitting his face, Ye Jun spread his hands and shouted, "I AM FREE!!!"
