Chapter 278: Chapter 278: He Won’t Come Home for Lunch

Outside the bathroom door, Bai Ran turned her back to Sun Zhe. Her face was as red as the evening clouds, the blush spreading down her jade-like neck and ears.

Her mind was completely filled with the image of the terrifying leviathan she had glimpsed when Sun Zhe turned around. Last night, in the heat of the moment, she had only briefly felt it with her hand; she hadn’t been in the right state of mind to think about anything else. But now, seeing it with her own eyes... that size, that scale... it was simply a weapon of mass destruction, a horrifying sight! It was like a stabilizing needle, stirring up a tempest in the sea of her heart. She didn’t dare imagine what it would feel like if something like that actually entered her body. What kind of devastation would that wreak on a woman? She used to think Huang Qianggang’s was big, but only now did she understand that there’s always someone better out there... and a bigger stick. Huang Qianggang’s little toy was a firelock, but Sun Zhe’s was a veritable Italian cannon!

...

"I’m sorry, Dr. Sun, I didn’t know you were in here! I... I just got back and was soaked by the rain. I wanted to come in and wash up."

Sun Zhe managed an awkward yet polite smile. "It’s okay, ma’am. I’m almost done."

"Oh, okay..."

With her charming face crimson, Bai Ran fled topless into her bedroom.

She had been buying groceries when a sudden downpour caught her on her electric scooter, leaving her completely drenched. When she got home, she forgot they had a guest and immediately stripped down to head for the bathroom...

「In the bedroom.」

Bai Ran found a white short-sleeved shirt in her wardrobe and put it on. Staring at her drenched reflection in the mirror, a meaningful smile curled her lips.

This Dr. Sun... he isn’t too shabby at all.

She darted her tongue out to lick the corner of her mouth, her eyes filled with a seductive light. She pushed her chest out toward the mirror, seemingly quite satisfied with her face and figure.

...

「On the other side.」

After drying himself off and changing into clean clothes, Sun Zhe hurried back to the living room.

The memory of the snowy mountain view he had just seen on Bai Ran left his body’s Yang Qi in a restless turmoil he couldn’t quell. The "tent" in his pants grew larger and larger, threatening to burst his zipper. To make matters worse, the pants he had chosen were a slim-fit casual style, making the large bulge incredibly obvious, as if he were hiding something down there.

Helpless, he could only sit on the sofa hunched over, trying his best to look natural.

A moment later, the sound of light footsteps reached his ears.

Bai Ran entered the living room and sat gracefully on the sofa opposite him. She appeared poised and elegant, as if nothing had happened at all.

"Dr. Sun, you can just leave the clothes you changed out of over there. I’ll wash them all together this afternoon."

Hearing this, Sun Zhe quickly waved his hands. "No, no, that’s not necessary. I can wash them myself later."

"It’s fine, really. It’s no trouble."

Sun Zhe suddenly remembered he had also changed his underwear, which was now in that pile of clothes.

Having her wash them... that would be far too inappropriate. They’ve known each other for less than a day, and he was going to have her wash his underwear? How could he possibly let that happen?

"Really, there’s no need. I’ll wash them myself," he insisted. "By the way, you can just call me Sun Zhe, or Ah Zhe. That’s what everyone calls me."

As he spoke, Sun Zhe’s eyes unintentionally drifted toward Bai Ran’s chest. He only now noticed that she was wearing just the white short-sleeved shirt with no bra underneath, causing two very distinct points to press against the fabric.

This sense of not being revealed, yet seemingly so, was even more tantalizing than seeing everything outright. It was enough to drive a man wild with desire.

However, Sun Zhe didn’t realize that while he was stealing glances at her, Bai Ran was sneaking peeks at his massive bulge.

"Alright, I’ll call you Ah Zhe then," she said.

"Sounds good."

"So, Ah Zhe, what would you like for lunch?"

Sun Zhe quietly averted his gaze and pretended to look at his phone, smiling. "I’m not picky. Whatever you want to make is fine."

Bai Ran took a deep look at his towering tent before shifting her gaze away with a light smile. "Alright then. We’ll just have something simple for lunch. We can make something nicer tonight when Huang Qianggang gets back."

Sun Zhe asked, "Is Huang Qianggang not coming home for lunch?"

Bai Ran smiled sweetly. "He went out early this morning to prepare some things for the trip into the mountains. He also said he was going to the Mountain God Temple to pray to the Mountain God."

"He always goes to the temple to pray before he enters the mountains. It’s a local custom."

"I see."

Bai Ran sighed softly. "But given the situation, it looks like we’ll have to wait a few days before we can head into the mountains."

Sun Zhe immediately caught the main point of her statement. "You’re going into the mountains too?"

At his words, Bai Ran puffed her cheeks slightly and thrust her chest out, asking coyly, "What? Judging by your tone, are you looking down on me just because I’m a woman?" 𝓯𝙧𝓮𝓮𝒘𝓮𝙗𝙣𝒐𝒗𝒆𝓵.𝓬𝓸𝒎

"No, of course not! You’ve misunderstood. That’s not what I meant at all."

Sun Zhe waved his hands in a fluster, unable to resist another peek at the two points outlined on her shirt. The already taut tent in his pants swelled even larger, the change visible to the naked eye.

Is she doing this on purpose? No bra, with such obvious protrusions... there’s no way she isn’t aware! And she’s deliberately puffing out her chest? Is she afraid I won’t see it?

Bai Ran’s gaze drifted downward, taking in the change in his tent. She smirked inwardly but kept her expression neutral. "Once we get into the mountains, with those skinny arms and legs of yours, you’ll probably be the one needing me to take care of you."

Hearing "skinny arms and legs" made Sun Zhe feel a surge of indignation.

I consider myself pretty strong! How could she call me skinny? My legs are quite thick, thank you very much... especially that leg!

Sun Zhe changed the subject. "Is the heavy rain why we can’t go into the mountains?"

Bai Ran nodded, picking up the teapot from the coffee table to pour him a cup. As she poured the tea, she deliberately leaned down very low.

From Sun Zhe’s angle, the breathtaking snowy-white view deep within her collar was impossible to miss.

A faint smile touched Bai Ran’s lips. She glanced at his tent again, then raised a hand to tuck a damp strand of hair behind her ear, an air of ineffable allure cutting through her elegant demeanor.

She spoke softly, "The local elders say that around this time every year, the old scaled dragons hiding in the mountains come out to cause trouble, triggering floods and mudslides. If you go into the mountains now, you’ll most likely never return."

Sun Zhe frowned slightly. "What are ’scaled dragons’?"

"They’re the massive serpents in the mountains that undergo a transformation to become dragons."

Sun Zhe chuckled. "My grandpa used to tell me stories like that when I was a kid. He said that some animals, after living for a very long time, absorb enough Heaven and Earth Spiritual Qi and the essence of the sun and moon to gain sentience. Then, during thunderstorms, they undergo their transformation into scaled dragons."

Bai Ran giggled, covering her mouth. "That’s the kind of thing you just listen to like a fairytale."

"I don’t really believe it, either," Sun Zhe smiled.

"But," Bai Ran said, her expression turning serious, "even if you don’t believe in such things, you should still hold them in reverence."

"Take praying at the Mountain God Temple for safety, for example. Regardless of what you believe, it’s a local custom. Showing a basic level of respect is important."

Sun Zhe nodded. "You have a point."

Bai Ran pushed the teacup toward him and gave him a playful wink. "Alright, I’m going to take a bath and change. I’ll cook for you in a bit."
