Playboy: Medical and Martial Master-Chapter 287: Midnight in the Primeval Forest
Sun Zhe's appetite was nothing short of impressive. He devoured five compressed biscuits and a 500-gram pack of special beef jerky, yet he still wasn't satisfied.
"Here, you can have mine," Bai Ran offered, like a gentle big sister, handing her half-eaten pack of beef jerky to Sun Zhe. "I've been on a diet lately and can't eat that much."
Sun Zhe scratched his head. "I really shouldn't..."
Though his words were hesitant, his actions were not. He quickly accepted the beef jerky from Bai Ran and began to devour it.
Huang Qianggang, standing nearby, was amazed. "Wow, Doctor Sun, you have quite an appetite! You eat even more than I do!" he exclaimed. "But we only brought half a month's worth of food, so you can't eat like that. You need to save some!"
An impatient look crossed Bai Ran's face. She had the sudden urge to tell him to shut his trap. All he does is nag, nag, nag!
"What's it to you?" she snapped. "Can't a man eat when he's hungry? It's not like we're out of food."
"Ranran, that's not what I meant."
Bai Ran snorted, ignoring him completely. She turned to Sun Zhe and said, "Ah Zhe, don't mind him. Just eat."
...
A few moments later, after finishing his food, Sun Zhe guzzled down a bottle of mineral water. He then stood up and said, "Brother Huang, Bai Ran, I'm going to sleep now. Remember to wake me for the second half of the night watch."
"Alright. Ranran, you should go to sleep too," Huang Qianggang replied.
Then, Sun Zhe and Bai Ran crawled into the tent one after the other.
Inside, the two communicated only with their eyes, not daring to speak or move. The tent had a light on, and their shadows could be vaguely seen from the outside. If they did anything, Huang Qianggang would easily notice.
The interior wasn't cramped; it was spacious enough for four adults to lie side by side. Sun Zhe and Bai Ran kept a two-person space between them, and after exchanging glances for a while, they both drifted off to sleep.
「Meanwhile.」
Sitting by the campfire on watch, Huang Qianggang took out his phone and scrolled to a photo of a woman in his gallery. Whether it was due to a beauty filter or not, the woman in the photo was gorgeous. She had a great figure that rivaled Bai Ran's in every aspect, and she possessed a cold elegance that Bai Ran lacked. The woman held a little boy of about three or four in her arms, whose features bore a slight resemblance to Huang Qianggang.
Sigh, who knows how long it'll be before I can go back this time, he thought. My dear wife, my son... I miss you both so much.
As he flipped through the photos of his family of three, his face filled with happiness, but whenever he thought of Bai Ran, his heart would ache with guilt.
...
...
"Doctor Sun, wake up!"
"It's your turn for the watch!"
An unknown amount of time had passed when Sun Zhe was suddenly woken by Huang Qianggang's voice. Dazed, Sun Zhe opened his eyes, fought back his drowsiness, and sat up resolutely, giving Huang Qianggang a nod.
"I'm counting on you for the second half of the night, Doctor Sun," Huang Qianggang said with a yawn before promptly lying down and falling into a deep sleep.
Sun Zhe just smiled, said nothing, and crawled out of the tent. As he exited, he hesitated for a moment.
Should I wake up Bai Ran?
Ultimately, spurred on by the Yang Qi surging in his body, he decided to wake her. Ensuring Huang Qianggang wouldn't notice, Sun Zhe quietly pinched Bai Ran's ankle. Pinching her ankle was the secret signal they had agreed upon before going to sleep.
...
Outside the tent, by the campfire, Sun Zhe added a few logs to the fire and stared vacantly at the crackling flames. A deep sense of longing filled the night air, drifting toward the distant Yang City, toward the women he missed there...
Yan'Er and Qiaoqiao should be fast asleep by now, he mused. I wonder if Yan'Er has work tomorrow. Come to think of it, Qiaoqiao should be home from her break tomorrow, too.
...
Sun Zhe took out his phone to check it. There was still no signal. Occasionally, one bar would appear, only to vanish and be replaced by the "No Service" message.
It was already past two in the morning. The night in this primeval forest was oppressively silent. Deep darkness covered everything; not even stars were visible in the sky. It was as though the entire world had been swallowed whole, leaving only the small campfire and the chirping of insects from deep within the shadows.
Just a few minutes passed before the sound of Huang Qianggang's snoring drifted from the tent, occasionally punctuated by the grinding of his teeth. He seemed to be sleeping soundly.
ZIP...
Suddenly, the tent's zipper was pulled open with a soft sound. Sun Zhe turned his head to see a sleepy-eyed Bai Ran carefully crawling out.
Bai Ran blinked at him, then walked over and sat down, wrapping her arms around his and resting her head on his shoulder.
"Are you cold?" Sun Zhe whispered.
"Yeah, it's a bit chilly."
Sun Zhe asked again, "Is Huang asleep?"
"Sleeping like a log. He was knocked out ages ago."
Bai Ran lifted her face to look at Sun Zhe's handsome profile and murmured, "Ah Zhe, I need to go to the bathroom."
"Well, go ahead then," Sun Zhe said.
Bai Ran shook his arm coquettishly. "You have to come with me!"
Sun Zhe gave her a puzzled look. "You need an escort to go to the bathroom?"
"I'm scared!" she said pitifully. "It's so dark in these woods, and the bushes are so thick... What if I run into a snake, and it... slips inside before you get the chance?"
Sun Zhe was speechless. "What the hell do you mean 'slips inside before me'? Seriously, your method of threatening people is really something else..."
Bai Ran pinched him. "So are you coming or not?"
"Do you think I can refuse?" Sun Zhe replied, his face a mask of resignation.
In reality, Sun Zhe knew perfectly well that someone like Bai Ran, who frequently ventured outdoors, couldn't possibly be afraid of snakes or the dark—certainly not to the point of needing an escort just to relieve herself. It was obvious she was putting on an act. He had seen right through her little feminine wiles long ago!
Sun Zhe stood up and asked, "Number one or number two?"
Bai Ran giggled and stood up as well. "Number one."
Sun Zhe surveyed the surroundings. "Let's go over there. The grass is shorter."
...
Before long, they arrived under a tree about twenty meters from the tent. Sun Zhe covertly activated his Yin Yang X-ray Vision and scanned the area. Finding no snakes, rodents, or other animals nearby, he picked out a spot for Bai Ran under the tree.
Without the slightest hesitation, Bai Ran untied the drawstring and unfastened the button of her cargo pants right in front of him, sliding the waistband down to her knees.
Sun Zhe glanced over, and his eyes immediately lit up.
Thin, sheer black glossy stockings clung to her lower body, shimmering alluringly in the faint light of the campfire. The mysterious region they covered was faintly visible, and just as she had mentioned during the day, her panties were indeed the lace butterfly style she had promised.
Sun Zhe swallowed hard and averted his gaze. "Hurry up and go. I'll keep watch here," he said.
Bai Ran suddenly remembered something. "Oh, right, Ah Zhe," she said. "I forgot to grab the condoms. Could you get them from my backpack? They're in the second compartment."
