Playboy: Medical and Martial Master-Chapter 290: Corpse Wolf
Watching the seemingly anxious Bai Ran, Sun Zhe had a sudden bad feeling and quickly went to meet her.
"Sister-in-law, how many wolves are there?"
"There are eight! Ah Zhe, you need to climb up! Leave the wolf pack to us!" Bai Ran gave him a push, then turned and ran back toward the camp, apparently to help Huang Qianggang.
Watching her retreating figure, Sun Zhe couldn't help but feel curious, wondering why she was in such a panic.
In fact, I noticed long ago that Huang Qianggang and Bai Ran are both Martial Artists, and both are at the Qi Refining Realm!
So, what Sun Zhe couldn't understand was why Martial Artists at the Qi Refining Realm would be afraid of a mere seven or eight wolves.
With enough strength to kill a bull in one punch, wouldn't taking on a few wolves be over in minutes?
Driven by curiosity, Sun Zhe followed Bai Ran back toward the camp.
At this very moment, Huang Qianggang was already surrounded by the eight wolves. He gripped a Dog Leg Curved Saber in each hand, waving them about as he cursed. The scene was incredibly tense.
As Sun Zhe got closer, he realized these wolves were not like the ones he had imagined, nor were they like the wolves he had seen online or on television.
These wolves were as large as adult cattle and covered in brown fur as stiff as steel needles. On top of their heads sat a conspicuous tuft of red hair.
Their appearance was ferocious and ugly. Their faces were covered in disgusting blotches, like the face of a rotting corpse, and paired with their bloodthirsty red eyes, the mere sight of them would make one's scalp tingle.
The strange wolves also seemed highly intelligent. Knowing Huang Qianggang was not to be trifled with, they didn't rush in for the kill. Instead, they sent one to harry him while the others surrounded him in a specific formation.
They were just waiting for Huang Qianggang to become exhausted before they would swarm in and enjoy their dinner.
At this point, Huang Qianggang was drenched in sweat, his face and neck flushed red from exertion.
If he were fighting people, he could have relied on his skills to hold his own for a while. But fighting such savage beasts that only knew how to bite and pounce was purely a contest of strength and endurance, with no room for fancy techniques.
You could slash one with a saber and inflict a mere flesh wound, but if it bit you, you'd be reporting directly to King Yama.
"Damn it to hell! How did Corpse Wolves get here?!"
"You damn beasts! Come and get me, you motherfuckers!"
"If you've got the guts, come get a piece of your granddaddy!"
Huang Qianggang was clearly panicked, swinging his Dog Leg Curved Sabers relentlessly while spewing a stream of filthy curses.
Suddenly, he saw Bai Ran running back. His eyes widened in alarm, and he grew even more anxious, roaring, "What are you doing back here? You and Doctor Sun were supposed to climb up—"
He trailed off, his words catching in his throat as he froze.
He had spotted Sun Zhe quietly following Bai Ran.
"Doctor Sun, why did you come back? Didn't I tell you to run?!"
Hearing this, Bai Ran jolted and spun around to face Sun Zhe. She asked the same question as her husband, her tone full of blame.
Sun Zhe, however, was as calm as ever. "I'm here to help."
Bai Ran anxiously pushed him. "With those skinny arms and legs? What help could you possibly be? Hurry up and run! You're no help here, you'll only drag us down! If something happens to you, how are we supposed to explain this to President Su?"
Sun Zhe glanced at her reassuringly. "Don't worry, Sister-in-law. I know what I'm doing."
He walked toward Huang Qianggang unhurriedly, seemingly ignoring the snarling, monstrous wolves. "We haven't harvested the White Silk Hulus yet," he said. "It wouldn't be worth it to run now."
Hearing this, Huang Qianggang was so angry he could have cried.
"What time do you think this is? And you're still thinking about that stuff?"
"Doctor Sun, you're making this really difficult for me!"
"I'm begging you, don't cause trouble! Just hurry and..."
Before he could finish, Sun Zhe vanished, leaving only a blurry afterimage in his place.
The next moment, he appeared before Huang Qianggang as if by teleportation. The shock sent a jolt through Huang Qianggang, who scrambled back a few steps.
"Brother Huang, leave it to me."
Sun Zhe glanced at him out of the corner of his eye. Then, his figure flickered and he shot forward, lifting his leg for a kick.
AWOOOO—!
A shrill howl echoed through the dense forest.
The monstrous wolf that had been harrying Huang Qianggang was kicked and sent flying.
Then, before the stunned eyes of Huang Qianggang and Bai Ran, Sun Zhe's body suddenly erupted with brilliant electricity. The snakes of electricity writhed around him like whips, flickering randomly through the air and crackling with a terrifying, overwhelming power.
Sun Zhe's gaze sharpened as he scanned the remaining monstrous wolves. Silently channeling his True Qi into his legs, he activated the Witch's Step, his body blurring into a series of afterimages.
As his figure flickered, lightning danced in his wake.
The monstrous wolves were sent flying one by one, screaming as Sun Zhe kicked them away like soccer balls.
Realizing how terrifying this human was, the remaining wolves tucked their tails between their legs and fled, whining.
A moment later, the scene returned to tranquility.
Sun Zhe circulated his energy, and as he regulated his breathing, the electricity surrounding him dissipated.
"Brother Huang, Sister-in-law, you two can continue pitching the tents. I'll go dig up the White Silk Hulus." He walked back toward Huang Qianggang and Bai Ran unhurriedly, his expression serene, as if nothing had happened.
Huang Qianggang wore a dumbfounded expression, too shocked to speak.
Bai Ran suddenly asked, "Ah Zhe, are you also a Martial Artist?"
Sun Zhe nodded with a smile. "Yes, but my main profession is a doctor."
Her beautiful eyes trembled slightly, her gaze filled with undisguised admiration. Tall and handsome, good-tempered, skilled in both medicine and martial arts, and a master marksman... To have reached such a level of cultivation at his age... Where on earth could a girl find such a dream man?
Just then, Huang Qianggang snapped out of his daze. He looked at Sun Zhe with excitement and praised, "Doctor Sun, you're so damn incredible!"
"I thought you were a bronze-tier fighter, but you're actually a king-tier master!"
"Hahaha... I completely misjudged you. Doctor Sun, you sure hide your strength well! By the way, Doctor Sun, could you reveal your Cultivation Realm?"
Sun Zhe just smiled and shook his head without answering, turning to walk toward the giant rock. He still remembered Lin Miao's advice—not to reveal his realm easily. In Hua Country, Martial Artists at the Nascent Soul Realm were considered national treasures. If word got out and reached the higher-ups, it would undoubtedly cause a lot of trouble.
Seeing Sun Zhe's silence, Huang Qianggang scratched his head awkwardly. "Heh heh... sorry, my apologies. That was presumptuous of me..."
Before he could finish, his body swayed. He let out a pained groan and collapsed to the ground.
"Honey, what's wrong?" Bai Ran cried out in alarm and rushed to support him.
Huang Qianggang clutched his stomach, his face pale with pain. "I... I think a wolf's claw scraped me earlier. The damn thing is poisonous."
Hearing this, Bai Ran's face went white with terror, and she was on the verge of tears. She was well aware of how terrifying the Corpse Wolves were. Their most terrifying aspect was their poison!
"Honey, just hold on! I'll get the antivenom for you!"
Bai Ran's concern for Huang Qianggang was instinctual, a reaction ingrained to her very core. Sun Zhe watched this unfold, and a wave of guilt washed over him as he recalled his dalliance with Bai Ran.
"Sister-in-law, that won't be necessary. Leave it to me."
