Playing a DPS Role with Absolute Defense-Chapter 278 - 276: I Know You’re Anxious, But Don’t Be Hasty...
As Su Mo slew more and more War Giant Trees, the commotion on his side naturally attracted the attention of other War Giant Trees.
Soon, more and more War Giant Trees pulled a pair of legs, transformed from roots, out of the soil and ran towards him.
Countless War Giant Trees began to attack Su Mo constantly with their vines.
Seeing this situation, Su Mo frowned even more deeply.
Given the current circumstances, it was impossible to obtain the Spring of Life through negotiation.
Although Su Mo had no intention of negotiating nicely from the start, he still wished for a peaceful solution.
But now that it had come to this, Su Mo didn’t hesitate for a second and released his full momentum.
[Boom!]
A terrifying aura beyond divine level exploded instantly, and countless War Giant Tree aliens trembled, while large leaves fell from the branches like dense snowflakes.
In the deepest part of the Extreme South, dozens of unimaginably huge War Giant Trees suddenly opened their eyes, turning to look in Su Mo’s direction.
The falling leaves slowly gathered, in an instant transforming into the form of a giant tree, looking at Su Mo with a serious face, and asked:
"Our War Giant Tree tribe has long resided in this Land of Extreme South and doesn’t meddle in worldly affairs. This one here, uh..."
However, halfway through speaking, it suddenly got stuck because it had no idea what race Su Mo belonged to.
Nor did it know how to address him.
Su Mo, on the other hand, was about to speak again, to repeat his earlier words.
Suddenly another voice was heard: "Ancestor, this is a Human, a human who colludes with the Stellar Insect Race."
On hearing this, Su Mo knew immediately that things might turn bad, his brows furrowed, yet he didn’t give up on gaining the Spring of Life through communication.
So he didn’t hide anything, and openly said: "I am Su Mo from the Human Race, coming here only to seek some Spring of Life to save my master’s life.
If granted, I’d be eternally grateful."
As Su Mo spoke, he released his strongest momentum, with two goals in mind.
First, to show he wasn’t here to cause trouble; if they were willing to give the Spring of Life, all would be well.
If not, he would have no choice but to seize it by force.
Su Mo’s stance was clear: he made it explicit that the Spring of Life today must be his, whether willingly given or taken by force!
And the best and fastest way was to use fists!
Hearing Su Mo’s words, the phantom of a giant tree formed by numerous War Giant Tree leaves frowned, looking at Su Mo before them.
The hatred between the War Giant Tree aliens and the Stellar Insect Race had a long history; initially, they weren’t even called War Giant Trees, but were known as Starry Beasts.
Races with "Starry" as a prefix were royal clans from birth, yet due to restructuring, they lost the name "Starry Technology."
Their ancestors moved all the War Giant Trees here to the Extreme South and secluded themselves from worldly affairs ever since.
Even though they distanced themselves from the world, every emergence of the Stellar Insect Race in the starry skies would see the presence of the War Giant Tree aliens.
Every time, they were the strongest main force against the Stellar Insect Race, not only to seek revenge for past grievances but also to reclaim their Starry Sky Giant Tree title.
Under usual circumstances, someone of Su Mo’s strength coming to the Extreme South for the Spring of Life wouldn’t be a problem.
Even if one’s power wasn’t as strong but had only reached the divine level, the War Giant Tree tribe would grant a drop to save his master, as he claimed.
Though the Spring of Life is indeed precious, each drop concentrated from the life force of a divine life tree.
War Giant Trees aren’t known for much, but their life force is strong!
They don’t consider anything exchanged for life force to be particularly precious.
Sometimes they would even trade the Spring of Life for resources with other races.
So, if they could gain the favor of another divine level powerhouse with a drop of the Spring of Life, they would do it.
But the problem lay in the fact that this guy was actually colluding with their sworn enemy, the Stellar Insect Race—a severe no-no.
Besides, this guy’s strength was very powerful!
If any normal divine level pressured them so audaciously, the War Giant Trees here would teach him a lesson on respect.
However, the power Su Mo displayed surpassed divine level; if they truly fought, it was uncertain how many of the trillion-level War Giant Trees here could survive.
Additionally, the environment here might suffer significant destruction, a very serious issue.
While the War Giant Tree aliens contemplated how to avoid this battle or at least avoid fighting here.
Su Mo spoke again: "Regarding your claim of us working with the Insect Race, it’s not a collaboration; it’s an order since that Insect Race Mother Empress has been subdued by me and is under contract."
Initially lost in deep thought, the phantom of the War Giant Tree suddenly had a change in expression upon these words; looking at Su Mo, its eyes filled with shock, surprise, and finally, sympathy.
The previous hostility vanished in a mere gaze.
Then, waving a large branch above, it calmly addressed the surrounding War Giant Trees: "Stand down, everyone, I have matters to discuss with this Human powerhouse."
Upon hearing this, each War Giant Tree gave a surprised glance at their ancestor, then at Su Mo, before pulling their legs from the void and retreating into the distance.
"Human powerhouse, if what you say is true, then I will agree to your request, but we need verification first."
Su Mo nodded, then frowned and waited.
He understood it was the best way to handle things now, despite not knowing what they needed to verify. If it meant no fight and a swift acquisition of the Spring of Life, it was best.
A moment later, not far from him, an elder with a head full of green hair suddenly appeared.
This elder had long emerald-colored hair, even his beard was green, his skin shriveled like tree bark, with layers of wrinkles upon his forehead.
The elder stared with hollow eyes, tightly looking at Su Mo, then sighed deeply: "Alas, what a pity!"
With those words, he shook his head and vanished.
This scene left Su Mo shaking his head, not knowing what madness had possessed this old man; lately, it seemed he only encountered these bizarre folks?
What’s so regrettable?
What is regrettable?
Why does this old man speak only in half-measures?
Though puzzled, Su Mo still looked up at the War Giant Tree phantom in mid-air.
Seeing it too sighing deeply, it slowly spoke: "As a strong Human, would you care to hear a story?"
Su Mo was immediately about to refuse, expressing he was in a hurry, having no time to sit and listen to stories here.
Yet before he could state his case, the War Giant Tree interjected once again: "I know you’re in a hurry, but please, don’t rush..."
On hearing this, Su Mo was about to curse, a national expletive already hovering at the tip of his tongue.
