Plotting with You: The Forensic Scientist in Ancient Times!-Chapter 416 - 415: A Beauty for Free
Don’t be fooled by Nanny Shi’s short stature and skinny frame; she walks as if she has limitless energy.
Zhu Yu hasn’t eaten in nearly two days nor drunk for a day, leaving her physically weak. Even on her better days, she would have to hustle to keep up with the brisk pace of Nanny Shi.
She couldn’t help but secretly wonder how this Nanny Shi could be so vigorous despite her age.
As they entered the woods, Zhu Yu’s heart couldn’t help but race.
Though she had passed the first hurdle by convincing Nanny Shi to bring food and water for her "sister," this "sister" was actually a "counterfeit." Zhu Yu, despite her well-laid plans, couldn’t guarantee just how sharp Nanny Shi’s eyes would be.
Walking a while through the forest, they could see from afar a person in white lying under a large tree, motionless, appearing unconscious, with long black hair flowing behind them, obscuring their face.
Nanny Shi spotted them and pointed towards the motionless figure in white, asking Zhu Yu, "Is that your fainted sister?"
"Indeed it is," Zhu Yu responded hastily.
Nanny Shi motioned to the servants holding teapots and buns to come forward and check.
Zhu Yu quickly stepped ahead of the servants, turning to block their path.
Having been thirsty and hungry for such a long time, her quick movements made her momentarily dizzy, her vision blacked out for a moment, and she staggered. Fortunately, she steadied her balance before she could collapse.
"Oh dear, what are you doing?" Nanny Shi’s voice was full of concern, her weathered face showing worry, "Yan Ning, girl, you’re already quite weak, don’t rush and put yourself through sudden exertion!
Why so hasty? Just speak slowly if there’s anything; it’s really worrying to see you like this!"
Her words were full of concern, but her gaze on Zhu Yu lacked any warmth.
"Nanny Shi, let me be the one to check on my sister!" Zhu Yu pleaded, "My sister is still an unmarried girl, and it’s really not appropriate for so many men to go forward and check on her."
"Ah, Yan Ning, you’re right! I was just concerned about your sister’s well-being and did overlook something." Nanny Shi raised her hand to signal the servants to place the dry food and water on the ground in front of them, "Then please, Yan Ning, go ahead, we’ll just watch from here. If your sister doesn’t wake up or if there’s anything else that needs help, let us know."
"Thank you, Nanny Shi! It truly must be a blessing from Buddha that my sister and I met such a kind person like Nanny Shi!" Zhu Yu expressed her gratitude endlessly, bowing repeatedly.
"Hehehehehe—" Nanny Shi let out a sharp and slightly unnerving laugh, making the listener break out in goosebumps, "It’s all fate, beyond anyone’s control.
Yan Ning, girl, you should go check on your sister first!"
Zhu Yu quickly nodded, bent down to retrieve the teapot and teacup from the ground, grabbed a bun, and staggered over to the motionless Yan Daoxin. She gently reached out to assist him, speaking with a tearful tone, "Sister, are you alright? Open your eyes and look at me. Ning’er is back!
Heaven has blessed us sisters, letting me meet a kind nanny. She brought food and tea here. Please get up and have a bite.
Now, we’re all we have, you can’t leave me alone, making me so desolate!"
As she reached out to help Yan Daoxin, she couldn’t help but admire his acting skills. Lying on the ground, even his breath seemed exceptionally shallow, making him appear truly weak and unconscious.
Yan Daoxin, with her "help," slowly supported half of his body up, swaying slightly, and weakly lifted his head to look at Nanny Shi and the others not far away. He seemed to want to stand up to bow, but his body swayed again, almost collapsing.
Zhu Yu quickly caught him, poured a cup of tea from the teapot, and handed it to Yan Daoist.
Yan Daoxin wasn’t pretending this time; his throat was parched to the point of nearly smoking, so he eagerly gulped down the tea quickly.
Zhu Yu hurriedly poured him another cup, simultaneously stuffing the bun into his hand.
Yan Daoxin behaved very much like a caring sister, and after sharing the bun, the two wolfed down the food and tea.
Throughout the process, Nanny Shi silently stood to the side, watching coldly.
Having eaten and drunk, Zhu Yu felt her strength genuinely returning, so she spoke sympathetic words while helping Yan Daoxin comb his hair, which had obscured his face, to both sides.
This revealed Yan Daoxin’s previously hidden face entirely to Nanny Shi and the others.
Yan Daoxin, looking feeble, made an effort to kneel upright and slightly bowed to express thanks to Nanny Shi.
Nanny Shi initially had a cold, observing demeanor, but as soon as Yan Daoxin’s hair was cleared away, her eyes fixed with astonishment.
Not only her, but even the servants who followed her, eyes locked on Yan Daoxin, one even stood with a slightly open mouth, lost in admiration, forgetting to close it.
Despite wearing simple, worn cloth similar to Zhu Yu’s, with uncombed hair scattered all about and strands stuck to her sweaty cheeks, Yan Daoxin’s appearance remained captivating.
The dirt on her face couldn’t hide her naturally fair skin, and her striking features seemed beyond the confines of gender, resembling a celestial being who mistakenly fell to earth and endured some hardship.
Nanny Shi took a moment to recover, she looked between the rescued sister and the seemingly beautiful younger sister, and suddenly felt the younger sister seemed a bit overshadowed in comparison.
Indeed, in comparison to others, one often feels inferior; Nanny Shi’s eyes couldn’t help but gleam, her mouth uncontrollably curving into a smile.
The young lady was right, it truly is heaven’s gift, meeting such beauty sent straight to her!
