Plunder-Chapter 29 - Stirring up Trouble
Chapter 29: Chapter 29 Stirring up Trouble
Chapter 29 -29 Stirring up Trouble
Zhou Jin’an left. As soon as he did, Qiao En didn’t delay. She quickly dialed 120 and had Mr. Nie sent to the hospital.
He was a partner of An Corporation; no matter how useless he was, she couldn’t afford to offend him.
“Mr. Nie, I’m really sorry. I’ll cover your medical expenses. Could you please reconsider the venture capital project?”
Qiao En was cautious and didn’t forget her work obligations.
Today, Mr. Nie had suffered in silence. Someone had egged him on to provoke Qiao En, but they hadn’t told him that provoking Qiao En would bring Zhou Jin’an into the mix.
He was a man of society, and he knew the name Zhou Jin’an well.
He hadn’t gotten any benefits, only trouble for himself.
Having provoked Zhou Jin’an meant he was in for a rough time.
“Get lost, don’t bother me,” he barked, waving Qiao En out of the ward.
No sooner had Qiao En left than Mr. Nie dialed An Jinhua.
“President An, you set me up!”
Mr. Nie spat a mouthful of blood onto the floor.
“Let’s hear it.”
An Jinhua was in the gym doing bench presses, sweat beads sliding down his neck, his broad chest muscles bunched into two hard knots.
“You told me to mess with Qiao En. Why didn’t you say she was Zhou Jin’an’s woman?”
Mr. Nie didn’t beat around the bush, speaking directly, though he didn’t mention the beating he received.
After all, that sort of thing isn’t flattering.
An Jinhua didn’t stop his exercise. “She used to be, but not anymore.”
“It seems to me that Zhou Jin’an cares quite a bit about that woman. And now you’ve gotten me into trouble. President An, we’re in the same boat here. If I go down… you might…”
Having taken a loss, Mr. Nie was not content; he wanted An Jinhua to pay up.
“Did you get the photos?”
An Jinhua asked.
Mr. Nie pulled out his phone. On WeChat, he had already received dozens of photos from different angles. He selected a few of the most explosive ones and forwarded them to An Jinhua.
None of the photos showed Mr. Nie’s face but captured Qiao En being kissed passionately.
“Not bad, you can rest assured. If I’m eating meat, you’ll at least get soup,” An Jinhua said before immediately transferring one million to Mr. Nie.
“Got it, from now on, any matter of President An is my, Nie’s, matter. I’m in this friendship for the long haul.”
An Jinhua was generous, and Mr. Nie was satisfied.
The night was hazy, silent and peaceful.
But the surface calm couldn’t hide the turbulence within.
At three in the morning.
Someone hacked into Nanchen’s work group and posted many indecent photos.
The majority of the photos were blurry, except for one.
That single photo showed Qiao En kissing a strange man on a street corner.
The man’s face was not visible, but his silhouette suggested a nouveau riche type.
The two of them were entwined, the passion between them evident.
When people woke up early in the morning, they quickly caught wind of this juicy piece of gossip.
“I knew it. Secretary Qiao was doing a decent job and then suddenly resigned. Turns out she latched onto a wealthy man!”
In the pantry, someone discussed it without restraint.
“Don’t speak too soon. People can be deceiving. Secretary Qiao looked so demure, but who knew she was so wild!”
“Isn’t that the truth? Haven’t you heard? After she left Nanchen, she went to a small company to do PR, mainly accompanying men to drinks and dinners. Of course, there are other ‘activities’ I’m sure you understand!”
…
Chen Yin was originally touching up her makeup at the wash basin. When she overheard these chilly comments, she felt a blockage in her heart.
She walked directly to the pantry, her face stern, and scolded, “Don’t you all have work to do?”
Everyone was taken aback and immediately scattered.
As soon as she returned to her desk, there were whispers in the secretary’s office as well, but they fell silent when Chen Yin came back.
The tech department had already dealt with the issue of the photos.
But the damage was done; the rumors that had spread could not be taken back.
Chen Yin, holding some documents, went to get Zhou Jin’an’s signature. He was leaning back in his leather chair, eyes slightly closed, his brows furrowed.
“Director Zhou, this document needs your signature.”
Chen Yin called out to him softly and handed him the documents.
Zhou Jin’an’s face briefly clouded over, but in an instant, he was back to his familiar cold indifference.
Since Qiao En left, he had not smiled again.
His face became gloomier, his eyes deeper.
Zhou Jin’an grabbed a pen, swiftly signed his name, then forcefully threw the pen onto the desk.
“Director Zhou, Secretary Qiao is not that kind of person.”
Chen Yin was not one to speak out of turn, but at that moment, she couldn’t hold back.
The time she had spent by Zhou Jin’an’s side was actually longer than Qiao En had.
Zhou Jin’an’s emotional fluctuations were very subtle and hard for others to detect, but she could sense them acutely.
“What kind of person is she?”
Zhou Jin’an suddenly countered.
Chen Yin smiled faintly, “Secretary Qiao is principled in her interactions; she knows what she should and shouldn’t do.”
Upon hearing this, Zhou Jin’an’s lips curled into a cold sneer.
There was a time when he thought so too.
But now, he felt like he hardly recognized the Qiao En of today.
The Zhou family compound.
As usual, An Kexin was massaging Mrs. Zhou’s aching head.
“Kexin, thank you for your effort.”
Mrs. Zhou patted her hand, unable to stop smiling.
“Aunt Zhou, it’s no trouble at all. You’ve labored for Brother An all your life; it’s only right that I do my modest part to show my filial respect.”
In front of Mrs. Zhou, she had already assumed the role of the future daughter-in-law.
Mrs. Zhou was fond of An Kexin; she took her hand and had her sit down beside her.
“Kexin, I’m sorry for the inconvenience.”
Mrs. Zhou felt guilty in her heart. She wished to have An Kexin as her daughter-in-law, yet Jin’an disagreed.
An Kexin smiled sweetly, “Aunt Zhou cares for me; I don’t feel wronged.”
A woman who knew her place was blessed. She understood subtlety and propriety, and by doing so, she gained even more of Mrs. Zhou’s affection.
“Have you tried on the wedding dress? Do you like it? If not, Aunt Zhou will have them redesign it.”
Although An Kexin’s marriage to Zhou Jin’an was not yet set, Mrs. Zhou was already planning the wedding.
“I like it; Aunt Zhou has good taste. I took a few photos; have a look.”

As she spoke, An Kexin took out her phone, opened her album, and started scrolling through the photos.
Mrs. Zhou squinted, looking very satisfied.
“Beautiful, it really is beautiful.”
Mrs. Zhou praised.
Sizing up the situation, An Kexin flicked her finger to the left, and suddenly a familiar face appeared on the screen.
It was Qiao En.
Mrs. Zhou was shocked.
Because she saw not only Qiao En but also a strange man passionately kissing her.
Mrs. Zhou was conservative in her thinking, and for a moment, she couldn’t deal with such a huge visual shock.
“Is this person Qiao En?”
Mrs. Zhou exclaimed.
An Kexin apologized and quickly swiped right to conceal the photo.
“Aunt Zhou, I’m sorry.”
But everything was already too late.
Mrs. Zhou grabbed An Kexin’s phone and scrolled back.
Her eyes glared at the photo, filled with anger.
In her memory, Qiao En was obedient and modest, never one to be involved in the sort of astonishing behavior shown in the photo.
Yet, the truth was right there before her eyes; she couldn’t not believe it.
“Aunt Zhou, Secretary Qiao has already left Nanchen. Everyone has their own aspirations; for a young girl like her trying to live a good life, it’s somewhat understandable that she would do some things that defy convention.”
An Kexin’s “explanation” confirmed the fact that Qiao En was promiscuous.
Mrs. Zhou fell into thought for a long while, still seething.
She suddenly slapped the sofa and ordered, “Aunt Liu, call the young master and tell him to come home for dinner tonight.”
