Pokemon: A New Path-Chapter 479
Chapter 479
The Incident with Groudon Continues to Escalate
More and more people were drawn to the scene, curious to see the legendary Pokémon. Trainers on flying Pokémon or private planes hovered at a distance, using binoculars to get a closer look at Groudon standing out in the ocean.
Some adventurous trainers tried to form teams and approach Groudon, hoping to challenge, defeat, and ultimately capture it. Not only did their attempts fail, but their interference also enraged Groudon. The powerful Legendary Pokémon sent them all crashing down, firmly asserting its dominance.
"What a sight!" exclaimed Professor Oak, who was aboard a helicopter. The renowned Kanto-region researcher peered through his telescope at the rare Legendary Pokémon, unable to suppress his awe.
"Why would Groudon trek all the way from Hoenn to Paldea?" Oak mused aloud. Was it migrating? Or had something in Paldea specifically drawn its attention?
No one had the answer.
For now, the situation remained at a standstill.
Across the water, Paldea's Champions, led by Geeta, stood silently observing Groudon. The mighty Ground-type Pokémon was now only a few kilometers away from the Paldea region. Geeta couldn't help but recall the fierce battle Groudon had waged against Kyogre just days ago. The memory of that destructive confrontation filled her with worry.
"If Groudon sets foot in Paldea, who knows what might happen to the peace we've long enjoyed here," she murmured. Capturing it seemed out of the question. All Geeta could hope for was that Groudon would leave Paldea as quickly as possible and return to its natural habitat.
Meanwhile, at Naoki's Ranch.
Naoki watched the global commotion over Groudon through online news feeds. His feelings were mixed. When he saw Groudon standing alone in the ocean, gazing at the sky, Naoki couldn't help but find the powerful Pokémon oddly pitiful.
Even the Legendary chat group was buzzing with speculation about Groudon.
Giratina: Could it be heading to the World Tree?
Mewtwo: There's a good chance—about 90 percent.
Giratina: Then why is it just standing there?
Rayquaza: Maybe because it can't fly?
Naoki sighed heavily. "Enough of this teasing…" he muttered.
Determined to take action, Naoki used the portal Giratina had opened to travel from his ranch to the World Tree's guild area. This shortcut through the Distortion World allowed Naoki to reach the tree without needing to fly there, making the journey much more convenient.
Once there, Naoki found Mewtwo and made a request: use teleportation to bring Groudon to the World Tree.
Mewtwo, who had been observing the situation in the chat group, was silent for a moment. Finally, it gave a slight nod.
Its eyes glowed with an intense psychic power. Moments later, Groudon vanished from the sea and reappeared at the World Tree.
Back on the ocean.
People watching Groudon from afar gasped in unison. "It's gone!" someone shouted.
"Where did Groudon go?" Another trainer looked around frantically, scanning the horizon.
Search efforts quickly began. Trainers and researchers searched the skies, dove beneath the waves, and combed every corner of the sea. Yet no trace of Groudon could be found.
The onlookers could only disperse with disappointment, and the event went down in history as an unsolved mystery. Some Pokémon scholars even named it one of the world's top ten unexplained phenomena: "The Mystery of Groudon's Disappearance."
At the Hoenn Weather Institute, the researchers stared at the red dot on their monitors, now vanished from the sea. Confusion and disbelief spread across their faces.
"It's gone?" one researcher murmured.
"It vanished from the same location where Kyogre disappeared!"
What puzzled them even more was their inability to track the locations of either super-ancient Pokémon. It was as if both had vanished entirely.
"What on earth just happened?" another asked, voice trembling with incredulity. "Did they...travel through time and space?"
After the initial shock, a few researchers broke into relieved smiles.
"If that's the case, then maybe those two won't fight each other anymore," one said hopefully.
"Exactly! This could mean we'll never face another disaster like the one that hit Hoenn before."

"Wonderful news!" another chimed in.
At the World Tree, Groudon was still reeling from the sudden teleportation. It instinctively prepared for a fight, its body surging with earth energy, ready to unleash its most devastating attack at any moment.
But as Groudon took in its surroundings, it noticed the abundant natural energy saturating the area. Its fierce demeanor wavered, replaced by astonishment. Was this...the source of the energy?
The realization struck Groudon hard. It had arrived at the source, The World Tree! But how?
Its eyes scanned the human and Pokémon gathered before it, including Rayquaza. Groudon quickly recognized that this wasn't just any group—it was surrounded by Pokémon with strength that rivaled its own.
Not far away, ordinary Pokémon were peeking curiously from behind branches and bushes, watching the scene unfold.
Groudon hesitated. The sheer number of powerful Pokémon here made it think twice about taking any hostile actions.
"Welcome, Groudon," Naoki said, smiling warmly. "This isn't our first meeting, is it? I'm Naoki. Welcome to the World Tree."
Groudon's massive maw hung open as it stared at Naoki in disbelief. Its instincts told it that this human was the master of this incredible place. The Pokémon gathered here clearly respected and followed him.
As Groudon stood there, stunned, Naoki gave a small shake of his head and continued.
"Let me get straight to the point. I know why you came—you were drawn to the World Tree's natural energy. I'll let you stay here, but only if you agree to a few conditions."
"What conditions?" Groudon rumbled, its deep voice echoing in Naoki's mind.
"First," Naoki explained, "you can't harm any Pokémon living on the World Tree. Second, you can't fight Kyogre here. Kyogre has already agreed not to provoke you. If you leave it alone, it will leave you alone."
Naoki's gaze hardened slightly. "If you break these rules, Rayquaza and Mewtwo will banish you from the World Tree."
Naoki knew Groudon's inability to fly worked in their favor. If Groudon broke the rules, it could simply be teleported away and wouldn't be able to return on its own.
Groudon fell silent, processing Naoki's words. It wasn't pleased with the idea of conditions, but it saw the value in the World Tree's energy. By staying here and absorbing that energy, Groudon could grow stronger—strong enough that Kyogre would never dare challenge it again.
After a moment of thought, Groudon gave a heavy nod. "Very well."
Naoki smiled, extending his hand. "Good. Then we have an agreement."
