Chapter 221: Regirock’s ability

“Regi~~rock———”

The sandstorm subsided, and the heavy rain followed suit. Regirock, gazing at the dripping water on the rocks, let out a roar and swung its arms outward.

Bang!

A massive tremor echoed once more as a huge boulder was hurled from within the ruins, landing high up before falling onto the sand right in front of Terrance and others.

“Just watch… Regirock is about to emerge,” Albert said.

“Yeah, it’s definitely drawn out by the heavy rain… Could that rain really have been caused by a Castform?” Arvin found it hard to believe.

At first, Terrance’s decision to send out Castform to battle perplexed them. However, after their first confrontation, where they didn’t even see Regirock, they were thoroughly convinced.

Sometimes, they wondered if the power of Rain Dance could really be executed by an ordinary Pokémon’s strength. However, regardless of their speculations, the fact was right before them: the sandstorm raised by Regirock in its fury was suppressed by such a small Pokémon, Castform.

Looking at the Altaria flying in the sky, they all understood. Altaria was carrying a mobile turret that could unleash large-scale moves and even alter the climate to draw out Regirock.

“Great… This gives me even more confidence,” Murasakibara laughed, commanding Gardevoir to use psychic power to isolate the sand swirling around them. They then waited quietly for Regirock to appear.

Whoosh~~ Whoosh~~

As the footsteps grew louder, their hearts beat faster, matching the rhythm, and they looked on with excitement.

Before Regirock was even visible, a massive yellow beam of light burst forth, sweeping across the sky towards the flying Pokémon.

“Whoa!!” Flygon, the closest, twisted its green body, its large red eyes locking onto the Hyper Beam. It countered with a similar move, but Regirock’s Hyper Beam was unexpectedly powerful. After colliding with Flygon’s Hyper Beam, it didn’t explode but instead devoured it and continued towards Flygon!

Swish!

In the nick of time, two blue beams of light pierced through it, slowing the Hyper Beam just enough for Flygon to dodge out of the way.

“It’s too powerful; we can’t face it head-on!!” Arvin frowned. From their first clash, the four Trainers immediately recognized the level of this Regirock.

One-on-one, they were absolutely no match.

“It’s obvious. As expected of a Legendary Pokémon! But precisely because of this, the battle is going to be even more interesting,” Albert said.

“Terrance… well done,” Arvin glanced at the Altaria, also using Ice Beam, with a hint of surprise.

As he commanded Flygon to counterattack, he also quickly issued a command to Swampert beside him, worried that Flygon’s counterattack wouldn’t be strong enough.

But he didn’t expect Terrance to also swiftly assess the situation and command Altaria to intervene…This level of insight wasn’t something ordinary Trainers possess; it required extensive battle experience or the qualities of an adventurer.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

Dragging its nearly recovered body, Regirock emerged from the pile of broken rocks, its H-shaped orange lights glowing, which seemed to serve as its eyes glaring fiercely at the group.

“Regi~~rock———”

With a furious roar, Regirock hadn’t even moved before it was bombarded with Eruption, Rock Slide, Shadow Ball, Air Cutter, and other attacks. Albert and Murasakibara, not willing to be outdone, took advantage of the moment when Regirock had just emerged from the ruins and had not yet reacted, to launch a fierce attack with their four Pokémon. Boom!!

In an instant, Regirock was engulfed in dust, its condition unknown.

“Attack! Attack! Attack!” Murasakibara shouted, “The ancient texts were right, this Regirock must be the one sealed here!”

Before searching for Regirock, Terrance and others unanimously believed that Regirock was slumbering here, revered as a “god” by ancient people who built the ruins to guard its sleep.

After all, they had rarely heard of sealing a Pokémon.

However, Steven’s translation included the phrase “breaking the chains,” which caught Terrance and the others’ attention. This phrase could be interpreted in various ways, the most straightforward being the chains that bind a prisoner.

This led them to hypothesize that Regirock was sealed within the Desert Ruins, and what they had to do was break this seal…

Of course, it was just a guess; they couldn’t make a judgment based on just a few words alone. But seeing Regirock’s reaction made them more confident in their hypothesis.

If it wasn’t sealed here, why would it erupt with such great resentment and anger from the moment it appeared?

Regirock’s indiscriminate attacks also brought a sense of relief to the group. The battle had triggered directly; what they needed to do next was to beat Regirock into submission and force it back underground!

“Come on… let’s fight, Trainers.”

Ishi, hiding behind and holding a camera, couldn’t help but feel a surge of excitement. The Legendary Pokémon Regirock, sealed away since ancient times and sleeping in the depths of the desert, unknown to the world—just how much of a sensation would it cause??

“Shh~ Look, Regirock…” Maki was stunned. Through the camera, as the smoke cleared, she saw that despite sustaining injuries from the attacks, Regirock casually grabbed a nearby rock and did something…and the wounds on its body slowly disappeared!

“I understand why Regirock was sealed…” Terrance sighed, “It’s not unbeatable. Although technology in ancient times wasn’t as advanced as today’s, there must have been many ways to defeat it. The only thing that could have frustrated the local ancient people is Regirock’s strange ability to heal injuries by swallowing rocks!”

As a Legendary Pokémon, Regirock demonstrated its strength to Terrance and others. No matter how they attacked, as long as there were rocks nearby, Regirock was invincible.

“Rocks!”

“Rocks!”

The team looked around. The ruins were collapsing, but there was still a pile of rocks around. Even with an excavator, it would take a while to clear them away.

“Can we lure Regirock to another location?” Albert asked.

“Let’s hold it off first and then think of a plan!” Arvin clenched his fists.

“Or don’t give it a chance to consume rocks. Keep attacking non-stop. Otherwise, with the number of rocks here, we’d exhaust ourselves before taking down Regirock.” Terrance said seriously.

In the first round of direct confrontation, they realized that this Legendary Pokémon could be defeated as long as they could lead it away…
