Pokémon Court-Chapter 469: Arriving at the Island
Chapter 469 - Arriving at the Island
Two days later, Fiore Region, Fall City.
Terrance and the other two arrived here. Moving forward, they would have to cross the ocean to reach Nightmare Island.
Following the previous sea wave incident, the crew on the ship primarily focused on calming the passengers. After all, regardless of the cause, encountering such a disaster without the ability to resolve it meant the ship's operators had to bear most of the responsibility... If Terrance and his companions hadn't stepped up, the losses could have been immeasurable.
Additionally, while the passengers expressed their gratitude for Terrance and his companions' actions, the ship's crew was also deeply appreciative.
Despite the ship's repeated requests for them to stay, with promises of a generous reward afterward, even Terrance himself paid no heed to the reward—let alone Albus and Fujiki, who cared even less.
More than anything, what they were eager for was reaching Nightmare Island.
Once they were soaring through the sky again, Albus glanced down at the ocean, clearly still brooding over the sea wave incident.
"It probably wasn't a natural occurrence—most likely, it had something to do with a sea creature."
Seeing him lost in thought, Terrance couldn't help but interrupt. "We've already left—why are you still dwelling on it? The shipowners should be the ones worrying about that sea area's situation."
If unknown dangers continued to appear in a particular stretch of ocean, no one would dare to take that route by ship.
"I've got nothing else to do." Albus turned his face away and replied flatly.
"Uh..." Terrance was speechless.
"But, now that I think about it, the gap between myself and Elite Four-level Trainers is still far too great." Terrance mused inwardly.
Someone like Master Lorelei could resolve disasters on a scale far larger than this sea wave incident all on her own, whereas the three of them had to combine their efforts just to barely manage. Even though it happened to be a situation where Ice-type expertise was advantageous, the gap was still glaringly obvious.
"I really need to focus on getting stronger."
Setting aside Altaria, Gallade, Mismagius, and Arcanine still had immense untapped potential. He had to make full use of their golden period of growth.
During this time, thanks to Mega Evolution, Altaria had seen the fastest power increase. In fact, as long as it remained in its Mega Evolved state, Terrance was confident that his Mega Altaria could go toe-to-toe in a one-on-one battle against an Elite Four-level Top Trainer.
Of course... that was assuming the opponent didn't also use Mega Evolution.
Because of Mega Evolution, Altaria's strength had surged far ahead of the other Pokémon, though that didn't mean the others were standing still.
After Gallade learned its first advanced Psychic-type move, Calm Mind, it showed noticeable improvements in the number of times it could use Teleport, its execution speed, and its teleportation range. Since Teleport was the core of Gallade's battle capabilities, strengthening this signature move meant that its overall strength would also rapidly increase in the short term.
At the same time, Terrance had collected a significant amount of information on "Iaido" for Gallade to incorporate into its attack techniques. Gallade was a natural genius in Iaido, with an understanding surpassing even human experts who had spent their entire lives refining the skill. At this point, Gallade had already developed a deep comprehension of its own attack techniques. If it could further internalize some of the key principles, its strength would improve tremendously.
This was... one of the clever ways Fighting-type Pokémon could enhance their strength.
As for Arcanine, its daily training with the "Macho Brace" continuously strengthened its physique. As long as it received proper nutrition, there wouldn't be any issues in the short term. Its battle style was straightforward and aggressive, so its training direction was equally simple—its physique directly determined its strength.
In truth, Terrance knew that reaching this level as a Trainer was already quite an achievement. But when it came to certain things... the instinct to climb even higher was something innate to everyone.
Since he could still improve, why settle for the current situation?
...
...
"There's a cluster of islands up ahead!" Albus shouted excitedly upon spotting the islands.
"Is that Nightmare Island?" Terrance gazed at the chain of islands stretching before them, his eyes gleaming with anticipation.

Coming out of his meditative state, Terrance began paying closer attention to his surroundings.
"Not yet, but once we get past that, we'll be close," Albus replied.
The fastest way to recognize Nightmare Island was by observing the surrounding environment. As an island that was notoriously difficult for ships to approach, its waters were in constant turmoil—whirlpools of varying sizes formed unpredictably, while turbulent waves clashed violently against one another.
Additionally, the island's periphery were lined with towering cliffs, further increasing the difficulty of reaching it by ship.
With the help of their Flying-type Pokémon, the three easily navigated through the chaotic waters and landed on the mysterious Nightmare Island.
"Return, Aerodactyl."
"Great job, Altaria."
Upon setting foot on the island, Terrance and Albus first gave their Pokémon some berries to restore their stamina before recalling them. After flying for such a long time, they deserved a rest.
"The cave where Darkrai resides is deep within the island," Albus said.
"Are you sure it's still here?" Terrance asked.
"Yes. Judging by the surrounding environment, nothing unforseen seems to have happened," Albus replied.
With that, he sent out Lucario. "I need to take another thorough look at the island's situation."
As soon as Lucario emerged from its Poké Ball and found itself on Nightmare Island, a ripple of emotion flickered through its usually calm eyes. It quickly focused its mind, placed a hand on its chest, and established an Aura connection with Albus.
Buzz!
A wave of blue, transparent energy swiftly swept across the entire island. Albus rapidly processed the incoming images and then rubbed his forehead.
"No issues. If we stick to our original route, we shouldn't encounter any Pokémon interfering with us."
The moment they stepped onto the island, the air inexplicably felt refreshing—breathing here was much smoother compared to when they were over the ocean.
This was mainly because, while flying over the sea at high speed on their Flying-type Pokémon, it was inevitable that their breathing had been slightly obstructed.
However, just as Terrance and the others were adjusting to the new environment and preparing to head deeper into the island, one of Terrance's Poké Balls suddenly trembled!
"Why did you stop?" Albus turned around and asked.
"Hold on a second..." Terrance paused in confusion, took out Mismagius's Poké Ball, and said, "Come out, Mismagius."
Just now, Mismagius had exhibited an unusual reaction.
Seeing Terrance release Mismagius, Albus and Fujiki exchanged puzzled glances. Mismagius was a master of illusion techniques—Albus had even suffered quite a bit when he first experienced them firsthand. But why take out Mismagius now?
"Mis~magius~"
The moment Mismagius emerged from its Poké Ball, it was as if it had stepped out from a world of darkness into a world of light. The pure energy drifting through the air filled it with an indescribable sense of joy and relaxation.
