Light bent and folded as Gardevoir's teleportation ended, and Alex found himself standing before a house on the outskirts of Dawn Hurst Town.

Daniel's residence was larger than most private homes in the area, though it lacked the ostentatious excess of true mansions. The structure was low and wide, built from pale stone reinforced with dark wooden beams. Wide windows lined the exterior, each fitted with fine mesh rather than glass alone—practical, breathable, and unmistakably deliberate.

The garden was the house's most striking feature.

It stretched far beyond what was typical for the town, carefully divided into sections. Some areas were dense with flowering plants and tall grass, alive with the soft hum of insects. Others were arranged more neatly, with moss-covered stones, fallen logs, and artificial burrows designed to mimic natural habitats. A shallow stream ran through one corner of the garden, its edges lined with damp soil and broad leaves—ideal for Bug-type Pokémon that thrived in humid environments.

The house also itself bore subtle signs of reinforcement. Vents along the walls were protected by layered mesh, and the roof sloped gently rather than sharply, allowing flying Pokémon to perch without damaging the structure. Even the doors were thicker than normal, etched with shallow grooves that looked less decorative and more functional.

Daniel had clearly bought and built the place with his Pokémon in mind.

Alex's gaze lingered for a moment, taking it all in. This wasn't just a home—it was a controlled ecosystem, designed by someone who understood Bug-type Pokemon intimately.

"Well maintained," Alex said quietly.

Gardevoir nodded beside him, sensing the calm, orderly life within.

Alex reached into his pocket and retrieved his TRH device, outwardly no different from an ordinary Pokédex. The moment his fingers brushed its surface, he felt it.

A dense surge of Psychic energy was gathering inside the house.

It was focused. Hostile. And aimed directly at him.

Alex recognized it instantly—a Psychic-type move being prepared at close range.

Since his encounter with Mew, Alex's Psychic ability had advanced from a low-mid Level 3 to a high Level 4 Psychic. The difference was profound. His raw power had multiplied several times over, but more importantly, his perception had sharpened dramatically. Psychic fluctuations that once slipped past him now felt obvious, almost crude.

At this level, only a handful of beings still outclassed him. People like Sabrina.

Sabrina, even among Level 5 Psychics—each one a monster in their own right—Sabrina stood apart. A monster among monsters.

Gardevoir sensed the hostile energy even before Alex did. She shifted slightly, already preparing Protect if the situation escalated.

Alex, however, remained calm.

Judging by the pressure and structure of the Psychic energy, the Pokémon inside was around level 50. Strong, but not threatening.

Without changing his expression, Alex activated his TRH device and sent a single message to Daniel.

Do you want to die?

Then he waited.

Seconds passed.

The Psychic energy hesitated—then slowly dispersed, retreating back into the Pokémon that had gathered it.

The front door opened.

Daniel stepped outside, his expression composed. Still, Alex could sense the faint tension beneath the surface, a subtle stiffness in his posture as his eyes met Alex's.

"Boss… I'm sorry," Daniel said. "I didn't expect you today. I thought—"

"It doesn't matter," Alex interrupted calmly. "Being prepared isn't a mistake. In a dangerous environment, caution is healthy."

Daniel relaxed slightly—until Alex continued.

"But projecting lethal intent in a human town is irresponsible."

His tone remained relaxed, almost casual.

Daniel felt no relief.

He understood Alex well enough to know that this restraint wasn't kindness—it was calculation. If he weren't currently the third-strongest person in their organization, Alex reaction would have been far less forgiving.

Alex tolerated mistakes when the person making them was useful. That didn't mean he was soft.

"Yes, Boss," Daniel said quietly.

Once the tension fully settled, Daniel gestured toward the entrance. "Please, come in."

Alex nodded and followed.

They moved quickly through the house, passing clean, functional rooms, and exited into the spacious garden beyond—the place where Daniel trained his Pokémon.

Alex's gaze shifted immediately, already assessing the environment and the Pokemon with in it.

Alex reviewed Daniel's Pokémon for the first time in several weeks and nodded quietly.

Every member of the team had reached S-rank or higher.

That alone was enough to separate Daniel from ordinary trainers. Even among Team Rocket's internal ranks, a lineup like this was rare.

From a developmental standpoint, Daniel already possessed the potential of a mid-level Gym Leader. His current combat strength hadn't fully reached that tier yet, but the trajectory was undeniable. Given time and refinement, the gap would close naturally.

Alex found himself comparing Daniel to Flannery.

Their teams shared striking similarities—not only in level ranges, but in potential distribution as well. The difference lay in experience and battlefield polish, not raw capability.

With proper guidance, Daniel wouldn't just match a mid-level Gym Leader. He would surpass one.

Alex reached into his pocket and released another Poké Ball.

A small, dark-green figure appeared, sturdy and compact, its scales catching the light with a faint metallic sheen.

Larvitar was a Pokémon Alex had originally planned to raise slowly.

His initial idea was simple: delay its growth, refine its potential to Shallow Diamond, then rely on its first evolution to push it fully into Diamond potential. In theory, it was efficient.

In practice, it was unrealistic.

According to multiple academic works authored by senior Pokémon professors, growth suppression was far more complicated than it appeared. Pokémon accumulated experience through combat, structured training, and even the passive passage of time. For a Pokémon with good potential, preventing level gain below the elite tier was nearly impossible.

Some methods existed—but all were problematic.

Forcing a Pokémon into inactivity could technically halt progression, but such methods were classified as harmful. The long-term effects weren't fully documented, which alone was enough for Alex to dismiss the idea outright.

Everstones were another option.

While prolonged use did cause strain, the damage was minimal during the early months. Managed carefully, the drawbacks were acceptable.

That was why, upon Larvitar reaching level twenty-nine, Alex had it fitted with a specially made collar housing an Everstone—discreet, secure, and sized precisely for its frame.

His limit was modest. Three months.

If he could raise Larvitar's potential significantly within that window, the long-term payoff would be worth it. Unfortunately, financial constraints limited how aggressively he could invest—for now.

Alex's gaze shifted toward Daniel.

"We both have relatively new members on our teams," he said evenly. "Let's take advantage of that."

He gestured toward Larvitar, then toward Daniel's Pokémon."Larvitar versus Venomoth. A light spar."

Larvitar straightened slightly, eyes sharp.
