Pokemon Trainer Vicky-Chapter 138
“Okay so it should work just fine.” I muttered, as I sat out with Blue Heart. It was early morning and I was looking over the instructions that had come with Lusamine’s gift.
The new TM system was basically the same as the old one, as a user, at least it tried to assure me of that. The back end of the system was drastically different. Lusamine and the Aether Foundation had, thanks to the reveal that modern TM's damaged the pokemon that used them, the push to completely remake the system and have a good reason why people would go out of their way to buy new copies.
The new TM's would overwrite the old TM moves. Plus new moves could be adjusted, altered. The fact they had managed to push out this change in such a short time told me a lot about where research had gone.
I think the tech was already there, but hadn’t had a reason to be pushed out so quickly yet. Completely remaking the entire TM system would be expensive in research and production, and could face pushback from users.
I know if someone had told me they put out new TM's and I should buy new ones instead of use my old ones, I’d have just scoffed and kept using the old ones since I had already bought them.
But I also knew TM's had been fucking broken.
Stupid war push. No one cared if your Pokemon couldn’t learn or adapt from the move they installed in the future if it gave them a powerful move right away when things were bad.
Lusamine sent a new installer with the TM's so I didn’t even have to wait for an update or something to my old one. That thing was just going to be stored away until I either forgot about it or decided to just throw it away.
“Okay, so I clip that in there.” I pushed the disc into the installer, and looked at the pokeball on my hip. “And I just hook up the pokeball there… You ready, Blue Heart?”
He rumbled in his throat as he bent down and I reached up and rubbed his nose with one hand and then booped the snoot with his pokeball.
Okay, TM Thunder, was ready. Time to hopefully fix an issue. The idea that I had hurt my pokemon… Sucked.
So here was the test. I activated the TM machine and it started whirring. I expected to wait a good ten plus minutes, as the only machines had taken forever, but after just a few seconds the machine beeped.
“Wow. That was quick.” I disconnected everything and released Blue Heart. He looked quite happy to splash into the stream and just look at me.
“Okay buddy, we need to do some testing, first off… Can you use Thunder on that tree?”
He rumbled and his body lit up for a moment, lightning dancing across his horn before throwing forward.
Heh, it looked different to the old version, that was already a good sign. Before the Thunder had looked like it came from a Pikachu, the thunder had flown over his body before shooting off, now it seemed to gather like a lightning rod around his horns.
The difference meant, it worked. He was no longer locked into the old bad Thunder.
“Okay buddy, do you remember how you used to use it? When it flowed over your body? Can you do that… Once you get out of the water, first. Let’s not shock all the Milotic.”
He wiggled a bit, and started floating upwards, coming out of the water slowly. The fact he could fly like this without any buffs said a lot about how much he had grown!
Then the smell of Ozone picked up, he seemed to concentrate, the click clack of lightning sparking met my ears, but no real lightning streams. I could see his horn gathering power, but he wasn’t releasing it, since he was trying to do something else.
Finally after a while a stream of lightning shot up his body, and again.
He gave a huff and flopped landing back in the water with a splash and I yelped and ran from the wave that nearly washed over me and my stuff.
“You okay?”
He click clacked, sounding irritated of all things as he flopped his head on the ground… Awww!
I came back after putting the TM stuff further away and flopped into his face giving him a big hug.
“No, you did good! I saw you got some results there, the important part is that you even can now! I’m so happy. We can do lots of lightning training in the future, and more importantly, you’re safe and healthy.” I rubbed my cheek against his until he calmed down, his tail flopping about in the water happily.
All was good. I’d have to send Lusamine a serious thank you soon. I could replace all of my team's TM moves with new ones, and we can start really training those moves to be what we need.
I considered trying to urge Blue Heart on for more, but I was just happy it had worked, we could train later. I settled in next to him and just snuggled up with him in the cool morning air.
We’d start training soon, but now was cuddle time.
—--
“Dodge it!” I called out as Mimikyu dropped into his own shadow, just as Milotic’s tail swiped through where he had just been, the air cracked like a whip as he finished the move, and he shifted, instinct already engaged to curl up and prepare for the next attack.
I’d used my secret weapon to get Milotic to properly contribute today!
“Tini!”
“Drag Dragon!” His wife and kid were watching and cheering him on!
Mimikyu jumped out of the shadow behind Milotic, Phantom Force.
It had been one of the TM's that I had passed out for training. Shadow Sneak was good, but Phantom Force was a whole other level.
Unfortunately, while Mimikyu was quick, Milotic was fast.
Mimikyu’s Claws reached out and were blocked by Milotics fan-like tail, acting like a shield as the move blurred, and Mimikyu went flying back. Aqua Tail.
Bouncing around a bit through the forest Mimikyu came back obviously irritated as his disguise was broken.
Milotic just breathed out, a whistle coming from his blow holes and he prepared for more.
So I grinned.
“Mimikyu! Together!” I roared out. Fist raised into the sky, pink gem glowing. This wasn’t just training for my kid team after all, I had my own training to do.
My arms crossed. “Let’s do it Mimikyu! Together forever!” Arms spread, then punch forward crossing over shifting into a heart.
“Milo!?”
I Ignored Milotic’s whine at what was going to happen next.
Once more motion to move my arms around and. Silly pose! My energy passed over. Mimikyu cried out in happiness as we joined together. The energy rushing into him.
“Let’s Snuggle Forever!” I roared out and Milotic cried in fear as Mimikyu jumped above him, his disguise extending into a monstrous shadow as it engulfed Milotic entirely.
“Just… Keep… The pose!” I groaned as I held myself in the silly Mimikyu pose. Funnily enough Jessie had taught me this one.
Poor Milotic though. I could hear him whine as Mimikyu battered him from inside his disguise, and then finally when I felt that drain become too much I broke the pose and flopped to the floor breathing heavily.
Mimikyu jumped off a moment later, and Milotic was on the floor…
“Awww.” I whispered cause he was all pouty and beaten up.
“KuUKUuku!” Mimikyu leapt into my arms a moment later, and I held him as he snuggled up.
“I guess that counts as the first win against the older team.” I mentioned, pointedly saying it loudly, until Dratini and Dragonites' calls spurred Milotic to stop moaning and whining and rise back up.
His Aqua Ring already going to work restoring the damage, even if he did look half way to crying about it.
If you discover this narrative on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the violation.
What a cry baby!
I’d have to give him some love after this too.
“KUkKuuUk?”
“Yeah, we aren’t done yet! But that’s a good showing, even against the strongest Z moves can do some damage. You good to keep going?”
“KUuUku!”
“Alright, let’s finish this battle!” I called out as strongly as I could even if all I wanted to do was flop entirely on my back in the grass for a bit. Mimikyu leapt forward and Milotic suddenly surged, and… Oof.
I think Milotic took the whole getting his ass beat personally cause Mimikyu was now embedded into the ground flat like a pastry.
“Milo.”
“Drrrrrratiniiiii!” I heard, as Dratini shouted for his fathers win, and I saw it harden Milotic's spine a bit as he rose up straighter.
“Millooooo!” He roared his victory.
Heh. Too bad for Milotic, once he’s recovered he’s facing the other kids too.
I wobbled to my feet and checked on Mimikyu who was fairly limp, but he was still awake.
“Good fight buddy.” I told him as I picked his floppy form up into my arms, and then walked over to Milotic, to give his nose a scratch too. “You too my Fishy boy. You did good, getting up after the Z move. I can’t have the little ones thinking the Z move will automatically win them a fight.”
“Milo.” He whined at me, pouting and looking sad, so I continued to stroke his nose for a while. Of course Dragonite came over, and soon those two were patting Milotic, or roaring his success from his head like Dratini.
Heh. The dragon family were so cute.
I looked behind me at the others lined up.
Who was next? I decided against Dratini just yet, I needed him to keep Milotics energy up, but…
Ah, easy choice.
“Riolu! You’re up next.”
“Rio! Riolu lululu!” I ignored her point and stomping foot. Had I chosen her specifically because she was trying to hide and slack off?
Of course!
“It’s your turn let’s go!” I called out and she puffed up and then stomped over.
“Rio rio.”
“You want to get to the Gravity training next week right? You want to get so strong, even your Mama is awed by you?” I reminded her, and she stilled before nodding.
“Rio.”
“Well first step? Fight Milotic.” Then I grinned. “Besides, don’t you want to try your new move?”
“Rio!”
“Alright, well now it’s the time.”
She nodded. I had two moves in mind for Riolu, both of them incredibly integral to her future, but for now, I had only taught her the first one.
I already knew what Riolu’s move set would look like once she evolved, She only needed five or so moves.
The first was going to be her go to.
“Ready?” I called out, even as Mimikyu had started perking up in my arms, cuddling a bit, and I could hear him clicking as he put his disguise back together.
“Rio!”
“Alright! Go!” I roared, and Riolu started off like she always did. Vacuum Wave, and she was even using it right. Moving to the side, not staying still, lashing out at long distance, as she worked to find the path forward.
Milotic though countered, his tail flying forward and blocking the Vacuum Wave, sending the energy flying as he simply swiped through it, disrupting the attack.
Good, but it showed Milotics' problem. Even if it was minor, he was still taking a bit of damage from that. If he had used Watergun, or Water Pulse, he could have countered the beam, maybe even turned the attack around on Riolu.
But Milotic, and the rest of my team barely ever used their Special attacks unless I called it out. They didn’t rely on it, because it was weaker.
Riolu saw her chance and rushed forward, fist developing an aura, green with sparkles running through the orb that seemed to grow around her fist as she leapt.
Which was stupid.
Now she was in the air fist cocked for a punch.
And Milotic swiped her right out of the air, sending her flying across the clearing.
In the air Riolu had no control, and no way to brace herself.
“Ri-ri-ri-ri!” She uttered as she skidded across the earth, the meaning obvious. Ow tended to be fairly obvious of an utterance.
“You okay Riolu?”
“Rio!” She groaned, her fist raised. Heh, she might be a slacker, but she was fairly dedicated in a fight.
“Alright back on your feet, and try it again, this time don’t jump in the air! You can’t dodge in the air!”
“Rio!”
She grumbled, but righted herself and once more the battle started, Milotic having stopped to give her a moment to recover. She rushed in once again. Not Quick Attack Fast, or Extreme Speed. Just her dashing forward.
With Extreme Speed this wouldn’t be needed, but again, better to develop habits first.
She held her Vacuum Wave, and then shot it once she was much closer, even using the wave to stop her forward advance and just dodge the extent of Milotics tail that swept out.
Then as he blasted through her wave, she crouched down and charged in again, fist glowing that green with sparkles as she prepared her new move.
And as Milotic swung in with his tail Riolu punched.
“Riooooo!”
I grinned as the noise of a gong echoed out, but then a moment later Riolu was swept along.
Not enough, but better.
And as she once more bounced across the ground, the entire reason I’d picked that specific move for Riolu to train with came into effect.
Riolu were famous for their stamina despite being ‘baby’ pokemon, and what was training but relying on a pokemons Stamina. She groaned and sat up, scuffed up and dirty, but with far more energy than she should.
“Your Drain Punch was good, but hitting the end of his tail reduces the amount of damage you can do! Gotta aim for his meat to get more out of it! You can do it!” I roared out, and Riolu pushed herself to her feet with a nod.
Drain Punch, damage dealt meant you restored some energy. Not just amazing for battle, but great for training too.
Riolu’s first step to preparing to become a monster.
“Let’s go!”
“Rioooo!”
—---
The white aura of Protect flashed as Goomy blocked another Dragon Pulse. Milotic was playing with her, using his own ranged attacks, despite them being weak, but it was pushing Goomy hard.
It was why I had given her Protect. She was the slowest of the babies, the one that struggled to move the most.
While that was going on I looked over.
Blissey was restoring the others' health, Heal Pulse going over and washing over them.
Heh. Jangmo-o had suffered under Milotics tail as well, and then poor Dratini was conked out still.
Goomy was now fighting him twice. I turned back, to give her my focus once more. But she had this, nothing I needed to say as she shot off Dragon Pulse, used Protect when Milotic decided to attack, and mostly just kept herself moving as much as she could as she hammered at her opponent, but it was all in vain.
Milotic was a wall, a DPS check, that Goomy simply couldn’t overcome, and soon a Water Pulse washed over her, and she struggled to stay on the ground for a moment before being washed away along with the dirt, flying around until she crashed into the field.
I waited for a moment to make sure she wasn’t getting up before heading over. Bending down it took a second to pick her up out of the mud, uncaring about the slime that got on me as I lifted her up.
“Hey Brave, that was a great fight.” I whispered to her, but her eye peeked open for a moment before just exhaling and closing. I carried her over and placed her gently with the others as Blissey pulsed another wave of healing energy over the baby team.
I stepped back and looked over them, taking in what I was seeing. They were all disappointed, I could see it in their body language. Jangmo-o was sprawled out just looking hopeless, his face half in the grass, pouting.
Only Gible who had been watching the entire time was unconcerned. Dragonite had been keeping an eye on her, and I noticed talking to Gible from time to time.
Dragon talk no doubt.
“It’s hard huh?” I said loud enough they could all hear. “A real battle. Fighting the strong. It’s hard when you realize you just can’t beat them. But those feelings are temporary. You can’t beat them now, but you will. Training is hard, but this is why we will do it. That feeling you all feel? Don’t let it drag you down. Instead, use it as fuel to be stronger!” I called out, motivational speech complete.
“Jang.” My little Dragon huffed out, seemingly not buying it.
“Heh.” I plopped down and gently stroked his cheeks. “I know it sucks. I don’t like losing either. But this is just life, little buddy. Strong pokemon are out there. Stronger than us even. So you need to be ready to face them, to run face first into something insurmountable and fight anyways.”
“Jaa.” He sighed, and slowly rose up getting his paws under him as he stood tall and looked me in the eye. “Jang, Jangmo, Mo-o!”
“Ready for round two?” I asked, and he instantly flopped to the ground. Purposefully looking like he was still injured. I just laughed and scritched his scales. “Alright, we’ll take a break. How about an energy barrage break?”
“Jaaaaang.” He whined, at my joke and I patted him.
“I was just joking, go ahead and take fifteen, let’s get some water and maybe a snack okay?”
That word got a reaction and his tail started wagging.
Thought so.
Snacks it was.
I got up and checked over everyone. Yep everyone was giving me eyes for a snack.
“Okay okay! Blissey, help me get a nutritious snack for everyone so they can keep battling?”
“Bliss!”
I’d need to add some Leppa berry into everyones snack to make sure they had the energy to keep training.
Looking over my team I did feel for them. This was rough training. Even for the old team. Even if they were weaker, the old pokemon weren’t trying to win in one hit, they were giving the babies a chance, and that chance meant they were constantly taking hits.
Sure they weren’t enough to do much, but getting hit over and over still hurt.
Milotic was standing strong for his wife and Dratini even after fighting Dratini, but he was still looking a bit haggard even with Aqua Ring.
“Milo! Take a rest buddy, you’re done!” I called out and he cried out happily as he slumped into the muddy ground, completely uncaring about how dirty it was and just starting to stretch out and relax.
What a silly fish.
But this step was important. I had to harden my baby team to being outmatched. They had to put that aside and fight anyway, not just for their own effectiveness, but they worked in a team.
Six pokemon could defeat one almost every time. Even a legendary could be worn down by fighting so many pokemon, either back to back, or together in a team depending on how you decide to battle.
I headed to the store house, where tons of berries and things were saved for the pokemon to eat, and with Blisseys help put together a snack for everyone, something to give them some energy and get them back to battling.
This week was a seemingly endless grind for the babies. I’d push them to their limits, and then we’d move on to the Gravity training to take it to the next level.
I passed out snacks to everyone, even those who hadn’t fought. I even placed some berries in front of Gible who quickly snatched them up to snack on. Her eating habits were getting better.
“Jang.” But I got a complaint, and then Riolu added in.
“Rio. Riolu.” She grumbled with Jangmo-o, both of them nodding as they pointed at Gible.
“She doesn’t have to battle yet, and she still gets snacks.”
“Jang!” I was argued against, and I looked at the two…
I walked over to Gible and looked her in the eye, reaching out without fear anymore, as I pet her head as she ate.
“Gible Gable. Do you want to do some training? Want to battle?” I asked her, and she continued to chew her berries without a response until she swallowed and opened her mouth wide.
“Gib.”
I had no idea if that was an answer or not. I just petted her head for a while before standing up. “Dragonite, you’ll be the next trainer, okay?”
“Drag!” She agreed eagerly. She was very happy to help after Dratini’s show yesterday. Then as she finished her snack and walked out, I blinked because a little blue dragon waddled past and squared up against her…
“Gible?”
“Gib.” She gibbed and then started to glow for a moment…
She opened her mouth, and even Dragonite was surprised. Instead of a Dragon Pulse or a Dragon Breath… Smoke poured out and she fell backwards…
“Pfft!” I giggled as I rushed over to check on her. “We-We’ll work on your energy use on the side, instead of getting you to battle, okay Gible Gable?”
“Giiiii.” She exhaled, smoke leaking out of her like an explosion had gone off inside her.
