Possessed No More: The True Star Returns to Claim Her Throne-Chapter 32: Accidental Intrusion
His top half was clothed, but his bottom half was bare. It wasn’t the "no-pants look" some female celebrities go for—he was literally wearing nothing down there.
How did Riley Perry know? Because a pair of light-gray suit pants and a pair of briefs were tossed on the floor beside him. Both garments were discolored in places, as if something had been spilled on them...
"Get out!" The man scrambled to cover himself, managing only to tug the hem of his shirt down over his vitals in his haste.
Riley Perry had been about to leave, but that one word—"Get out!"—ignited her temper. She deliberately let her eyes roam over Samuel Hughes, her gaze full of playful mockery. To be fair, Samuel Hughes had reacted fast, instantly covering himself with his shirt. He was even curled up, keeping things pretty well hidden. ’His thighs are pretty long, though.’
’Besides, it’s not like she was built any differently. She really had no interest in looking!’
"What’s the big deal? So I got a peek. It’s not like you lost anything! I didn’t realize you had a hobby of airing out your junk. If I’d known, I wouldn’t have come in.
"Still, not a bad body. Exactly what you’d expect from an industry titan!"
Her words were dripping with insinuation, and Samuel Hughes couldn’t help but let his mind wander.
Seeing that Samuel Hughes looked ready to breathe fire, Riley Perry decided her mission was accomplished and beat a hasty retreat. "Ahem, I do know the whole ’see no evil, speak no evil’ thing. I swear I won’t breathe a word of this to anyone. Bye now!"
SLAM. Riley Perry shut the door and patted her chest. ’Assistant Shaw is so unreliable,’ she thought. ’He just waved me off in a random direction.’ She had followed his gesture exactly, and the door really did have the words "Dressing Room" on it. Who could have known it was the male lead’s private dressing room?
Once she was a safe distance from that dressing room, Riley Perry flagged down a crew member to get proper directions. Only then did she go change her clothes before heading to the makeup room.
Meanwhile, in the dressing room, Samuel Hughes was about to go insane with fury. 𝚏𝗿𝗲𝐞𝚠𝕖𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝕖𝚕.𝚌𝗼𝗺
He had an early shoot today, so his assistant had brought breakfast. Unfortunately, it included a cup of soy milk. While trying to insert the straw, he’d accidentally poked it all the way through, and the soy milk had spilled all over him. A wet shirt would have been one thing, but the real problem was that his underwear was completely soaked. There was no way he could film in wet underwear, so he’d sent his assistant to his trailer to grab a fresh pair.
He had stripped down, wiped himself off with a wet towel, and was just waiting.
This was supposed to be his private dressing room; he never imagined anyone besides his assistant would just barge in!
And then, that woman had seen him... completely.
He was absolutely furious. He’d recognized her, too. To think that after their chance encounter in the elevator, their next meeting would be under these circumstances!
And that look in her eyes, that half-smirk, and the tone she used when she mentioned him "airing out his junk"—it was a blatant provocation!
’Just you wait,’ he fumed. ’If she ever slips up and gives me an opening, I’ll make her pay!’
It took nearly an hour to finish Riley Perry’s hair and makeup.
Samuel Hughes, already done with his makeup, was sitting beside the director with a thunderous expression, waiting for the new Demon Princess to make her appearance.
"Director Miles, who exactly did you cast as the Demon Princess? If her acting is terrible, I’m not going to pull any punches." ’If my guess is right, it has to be that audacious woman. God, I want her replaced!’
Director Miles took a large gulp from his coffee cup. "Heh heh, you’ll find out in a moment. What’s the rush?"
As they were speaking, Riley Perry emerged from the makeup room. She wore a flowing white gown that seemed to drift like clouds, her skin was as flawless as jade, and her waist was slender enough to be encircled by a single hand. Her makeup was light and fresh, making her look incomparably pure, like a Little Fairy descended to the mortal realm.
The crew stared, their eyes wide. She truly lived up to her reputation as the entertainment industry’s most beautiful "flower vase," despite having few roles to her name. Her appearance in historical costume was simply stunning!
Director Miles glanced at Samuel Hughes. "So? What do you think? A fitting look for the Demon Princess in the early part of the story, wouldn’t you say?"
"Come on over, Riley Perry. Let me introduce you..."
Riley Perry glanced at the man next to Director Miles. ’Good grief,’ she thought, ’his expression is as black as my family’s thirty-year-old cast iron wok.’
She walked over with a smile. Director Miles watched her gait and nodded in silent approval. She smiled without showing her teeth, and her skirt didn’t sway as she moved. The hairpin in her hair hung perfectly still, not moving in the slightest. Her poise reminded him of a noble lady from ancient times.
"For anyone else, I might need you to do the honors, Director. But with Best Actor Hughes, there’s really no need. I doubt there’s a single person under the sun who doesn’t know who Best Actor Hughes is. What’s there to introduce?!
"Hello, Best Actor Hughes. I’m Riley Perry. I look forward to working with you."
With that, she gave Samuel Hughes a deep bow, her posture the very picture of deference.
Samuel Hughes gritted his teeth, wishing he could flay the woman before him alive. But for the sake of his public image, he had no choice but to swallow his rage. He forced a smile, his words practically squeezed from between his clenched teeth. "Don’t worry. I’ll be sure to give you plenty of ’guidance.’"
’He couldn’t stand actors with no talent. If it hadn’t been for this morning’s little drama, he might have cut her some slack on account of her looks. But now? Now she could just pray for her own damn self.’
The completely oblivious Director Miles grinned from ear to ear. "Excellent, excellent! Now that you’re acquainted, let’s get the cameras rolling. Everyone ready? Riley, you’re off-book with your lines, right?"
Riley Perry nodded.
The Demon Princess had infiltrated the Empyrean Sect with a single goal: to assassinate Immortal Lord Caelus. To do so, she used every means at her disposal to get close to him and win her new master’s favor.
She acted like a sweet, innocent girl, putting on her most charming and adorable front for her master.
One day, upon her master’s return from a journey, she immediately cooked a delicious meal and brought it to him to make her presence felt.
Her smile as bright as the sun, the young woman appeared in her master’s chambers carrying a tray. "Master, you’re back. I’ve prepared some dishes for you to try."
Jade Sullivan was the third disciple Immortal Lord Caelus had ever accepted. His first disciple, Desmond Dawson, cultivated the Heartless Path; he spent his days in seclusion, feeling nothing but respect for his master. His second disciple cultivated the Path of Emotions and was always out carousing, rarely ever seen.
This was the first time a disciple had ever personally cooked a meal for him.
Therefore, Immortal Lord Caelus, who had long ago progressed beyond the need for mortal food, did not refuse his youngest disciple’s gesture. He picked up the bowl and chopsticks she had set out.
Jade Sullivan was an excellent cook, and Immortal Lord Caelus was quite pleased. "I had no idea your cooking was this good, Jade Sullivan," he said. "Do you plan to achieve enlightenment through the culinary arts?"
Jade Sullivan shook her head. "I only want to cook for you, Master." She moved to clear the dishes, and as she did, she "accidentally" revealed a burn on her hand. Caused by spattering oil, the red mark was half the size of her palm and impossible to miss.
Immortal Lord Caelus’s brow furrowed the moment he saw it. "You’re injured? How were you so careless?"
He immediately retrieved a Jade Bottle from his Space Ring and began applying the ointment to his young disciple’s wound himself.
They were so close he could feel her breath on his skin. As the cool ointment touched her wound, Jade Sullivan’s eyelashes fluttered. ’Girls are so delicate,’ Immortal Lord Caelus thought with a silent grumble. ’That little bit hurts?’ Still, he found himself unconsciously lightening his touch.
