Chapter 170: Live to the Fullest

When they arrived in Mesiona, on a whole different continent, Zeran once again left Lethia in awe by renting a cottage that faced straight to the sea, its water as blue and clear as the sky.

Not to mention the white sand private beach she had only ever seen through the media.

Mesiona was truly heaven on earth. That title was not an exaggeration for Lethia, because what she saw now was exactly that.

In their continent, they always had to use special sun protection, but here they were free. And the air was so pure she could feel her lungs refreshed.

History said Mesiona was one of the rare places untouched by the destruction of the last doomsday.

"Do you like what you see?" His warm breath brushed her ear from behind. He hugged her from the back, his hand caressing her lower belly.

Lethia nodded slowly with a smile. She put her hand from the balcony railing to stroke his. She leaned her body against him in comfort.

Zeran’s embrace wrapped her whole, so warm it engulfed her. A flicker of doubt crossed her mind. Was this feeling just the hormones of her pregnancy?

"Do you think our pup likes it? You can ask him, right?"

"He sees what you see. If you like it, then he likes it too. That’s why you need to relax now. Just focus on your well-being so he can grow strong."

Lethia’s face lit up with joy before suddenly freezing. She brushed Zeran’s arm away and turned to him.

"What did you say? He? I mean... were you saying it’s a boy?" Her eyes gleamed with excitement.

Zeran gave a faint smile and nodded. "When I touched you at Callista’s office, the spirit energy told me it was a boy. It’s been almost three months now, growing so strong and healthy. At this rate, you can give birth to him next month. So, you need to be careful from now. No more stress—"

Lethia cut him off by hugging him tight. "I’m so happy..."

Zeran stroked her back. "Why? Because it’s a boy?"

"No." She shook her head, still with that beaming smile. "Because he’s happy inside me." She finally let go of the hug.

"You know, right? When a pup is happy and healthy inside its mother’s womb, its spirit will let us see the gender. But if it’s uncomfortable or sick, the spirit might hinder us from knowing. Even the highest ultrasound technology can’t detect it. I was so worried... I thought I kept scaring it—"

Her words tumbled out so fast she nearly ran out of breath from her excitement. She had to pause, taking a deep breath in awe.

Her eyes shimmered, glassy with happy tears, locking onto his.

"Thank you. Thank you for letting me know."

Zeran flinched at how soft her expression looked at that moment. He had never seen her usually stern face soften this much. And it broke his heart to see it.

How could he ever tell her about the possibility she might die when giving birth to their pup?

Why was he getting tangled up in this emotion as well? Was this really the kind of love his mother once spoke of, that it breaks your heart to see the one you cherish brokenhearted?

He could only give her another faint smile and pull her into his arms again. He promised himself he would tell her once the Red Moon wedding was done next week.

The purple sea urchin was not something easily found.

Right after landing, Derreck had gone searching for it with Chasey, only to return saying the closest sea market near their cottage had run out, and it was no longer peak harvest season.

The only way to get it was to travel to the purple sea urchin breeding village and ask the locals to harvest it fresh from the sea.

Zeran decided they would go there tomorrow morning, driving out together.

Lethia and Chasey sat at the dining table by the beach, watching Zeran and Derreck busy grilling lobsters and fish over the flames.

"Do you think they’ll be okay? Will the food even be edible?" Chasey frowned, doubtful.

"I know, right? I thought we’d be served by professional chefs. What are the odds that billionaires can cook?" Lethia shared the same worry.

She pulled her wavy maroon hair into a bun, stopping it from flying all over in the night ocean breeze.

"I don’t know about Zeran... but maybe Derreck can. You know, he’s practically like a slave to Zeran. He knows almost everything because Zeran made him so. He even studied basic cyber security coding just in case Zeran needed it one day. I wouldn’t be surprised if he took a cooking class too."

Lethia sipped her grape juice and threw a knowing glance at Chasey.

"Looks like someone just made a new friend. Or... maybe a new crush?"

Chasey flushed. "No... no... We’re not close like that, Queen. He’s just... he’s so talkative during our little trip for the mighty purple sea urchin this afternoon."

Her exegeration made Lethia smirked.

"Yeah... he kinda reminds me of my friend who’s just as talkative."

Chasey rolled her eyes. "Well, he’s a caring man. But of course, all omegas are soft-hearted by nature. I don’t know why the Moon Goddess sometimes fated our mates from different classes. She should’ve just stuck to Alpha with Alpha, Beta with Beta, Omega with Omega. That way..."

Chasey didn’t finish her sentence, her thoughts hanging heavy in the air. Lethia could feel the weight she carried. It must be about her fated mate.

"But well, since fated mates can reject each other and still live well, that must mean the Moon Goddess spares them for a second chance, right?"

Chasey sipped the wine in her glass slowly. Lethia knew she was talking about herself and Adam. But since she hadn’t mentioned his name, Lethia didn’t ask more. It was a wound Chasey didn’t want to reopen.

"Second chance or not, fate will keep playing with us. But as long as we’re still alive, we have to live to the fullest, don’t we?" Lethia threw Chasey a playful smile, and they laughed together.

"Ah, Queen... You know Caelum still hasn’t woken up, right?"

Chasey’s question twisted Lethia’s stomach. She almost forgot about him, the one who’d risked his life for her. But no, she wasn’t forgetting; she was scared.

When Callista mentioned that he still hadn’t regained consciousness, Lethia could only remain silent, saying nothing.

Her grip on her glass tightened. The fox had told her that the bead in Caelum’s heart was still alive; it would protect him.

But seeing the reality that Caelum still hadn’t woken made Lethia anxious, fearful, and pessimistic.

["If you’re that scared, why the hell are you busy honeymooning here instead of visiting him? Or do you want him to die so my bead dies too?"]
