Pregnant After Healing the Alpha-Chapter 376 - 365: The Little Surprise Prepared by Zhan Qipei
Chapter 376 -365: The Little Surprise Prepared by Zhan Qipei
The scene shifted, and Qiao Jing and Su Manhan returned to Purple Garden.
Qiao Jing saw the chefs in the kitchen bustling around non-stop, probably preparing dinner.
“I can go over and help stir-fry a few dishes.”
Because Zhan Qipei had taken over the household chores, she hadn’t cooked for a long time and inexplicably felt an itch to do so.
Su Manhan refused Qiao Jing without hesitation.
“No, what if you get tired? Just sit and watch TV with me.”
Zhan Yao, who had been sitting on the sofa watching the news, stood up and vacated his seat upon hearing this.
“You guys watch.”
He deliberately changed the channel from the news and handed the remote to Su Manhan.
Su Manhan muttered under her breath.
“That’s more like it.”
Zhan Yao didn’t stay any longer, returning to the study.
Qiao Jing was pulled by Su Manhan to sit on the sofa, and the remote was stuffed into her hand.
She was startled and looked at Su Manhan.
Su Manhan enthusiastically pushed the fruit plate on the table in front of Qiao Jing.
“Eat some fruit, what drama do you want to watch?”
She was considering which of the recently premiered romance dramas were worth watching to recommend to Qiao Jing but decided to let her choose instead.
Qiao Jing shook her head and placed the remote back on the table.
“You watch.”
She was clueless about TV dramas, as she usually watched the news.
Su Manhan thought Qiao Jing was being shy and stuffed the remote back into her hand again.
“Choose whatever you want to watch, I don’t have any preferences.”
Then, Su Manhan silently watched as Qiao Jing switched back to the news channel.
Her expression grew complex; she had assumed that Qiao Jing, like most young people, would enjoy TV dramas, but it turned out that she actually wanted to watch the news.
Although she didn’t like the dull and flavorless news, her daughter-in-law wanted to watch it, so she had no choice but to sit by and watch the news on the screen with Qiao Jing.
An hour later, the chefs served up the dishes.
Once again, Qiao Jing was escorted by Su Manhan to the dining table, and Zhan Nanqing had also returned from work.

Seeing Qiao Jing, she felt a bit surprised, then, looking around with a puzzled expression, she approached the dining table.
“Where’s my brother?”
Why was Qiao Jing there alone? Usually, wasn’t it that wherever Qiao Jing was, her brother would stick close by?
Su Manhan’s face showed a momentary blankness, and then she slapped her forehead.
“Ah… darn, I forgot to call Qipei back for dinner.”
Zhan Nanqing rolled her eyes in some speechlessness; it seemed her brother had already fallen out of favor.
Even for a meal, her mother had forgotten to call her brother back.
No wonder she hadn’t seen her brother; as it turned out, he had already been tossed aside by their mother.
Just as Qiao Jing was about to call Zhan Qipei, his call came through.
She pressed to answer, ready to speak when the man preempted her with a deliberately aggrieved tone.
“Where are you? Why didn’t you come home for dinner…”
Qiao Jing detected a hint of grievance in Zhan Qipei’s words and paused.
“I’m at Purple Garden, are you coming over for dinner?”
She had been so engrossed in the news that afternoon that she hadn’t thought about Su Manhan not informing Zhan Qipei.
Zhan Qipei’s deep voice came through, tinged with excitement.
“I’ll come to pick you up.”
Qiao Jing glanced at the table full of dishes and said,
“Go back to eat?”
Zhan Qipei also looked at the things he had arranged and felt very satisfied in his heart.
“I’m coming over to get you now.”
The things he had set up, his wife was sure to like.
He couldn’t wait to see Qiao Jing’s reaction when she saw the gift.
Qiao Jing furrowed her brows, sensing a hint of anticipation in Zhan Qipei’s tone.
“But, I’ve made a lot of dishes.”
A vague guess began to form in her mind, but she didn’t want to waste the food.
Zhan Qipei furrowed his long eyebrows on the other end of the phone, knowing that Qiao Jing didn’t want to waste the food.
“We can pack it and take it home.”
He wanted Qiao Jing to see what he had prepared right away.
Qiao Jing thought it over and decided it wouldn’t be wasting food, so she agreed.
“Okay.”
After the call ended, Su Manhan glanced at Qiao Jing.
“Is Qipei coming over for dinner? I forgot to call him.”
Qiao Jing put away her phone and stood up.
“He said he’ll take it home to eat, and he’s on his way to pick me up now.”
Though she didn’t know what Zhan Qipei was planning, she didn’t want to be looked at with those pitiable eyes.
Su Manhan furrowed her brows, looking puzzled at Qiao Jing.
“Why? If everything is ready, why not come and eat together?”
Qiao Jing shook her head; she too wanted to know what Zhan Qipei was up to, even going as far as to take the food home.
Su Manhan frowned and said nothing, wondering why he wanted to take the food home if there was plenty to eat here?
Zhan Nanqing smacked her lips.
“Mom, let my brother take it home, he must have his reasons.”
After saying this, she pulled Su Manhan to the side and lowered her voice.
“Mom, don’t worry about it. Maybe my brother wants to create some opportunity for a bit of privacy. Let’s not disturb them.”
Once Su Manhan heard the reasoning, she stopped objecting.
In the end, Qiao Jing ended up carrying six packed containers and got into Zhan Qipei’s car.
As they arrived at the door, Zhan Qipei suddenly covered Qiao Jing’s eyes with his hand.
Qiao Jing was stunned and just as she was about to speak, the man’s palm covered her lips, and he slightly leaned down.
His distinctively deep voice sounded in her ear, his warm breath showering over her neck.
“Shh, don’t speak yet.”
Zhan Qipei’s hand was on Qiao Jing’s waist, leading her forward.
Qiao Jing grew more curious and slightly furrowed her eyebrows. After a moment, she came to a stop.
What on earth was this sly man up to? So secretive? And still covering her eyes?
Zhan Qipei slowly removed his hand.
Qiao Jing narrowed her eyes slightly, adjusting to the light so it wasn’t as blinding.
When she saw the scene arranged in the living room, she was taken aback.
The table was adorned with a large bunch of roses, the floor scattered with rose petals, and a string of star-shaped lights hung on the wall.
Even more striking, the rose petals formed a heart shape, with an exquisite gift box placed in the middle.
“What day is it today?”
She pondered for a moment but couldn’t think of any recent special occasion.
So, why had Zhan Qipei done all this?
Zhan Qipei didn’t answer her question but took Qiao Jing’s hand and led her in front of the heart shape.
He picked up the exquisite gift box, opened it solemnly, and inside lay a necklace, his expression very serious.
“Today we celebrate our ‘No Divorce’ anniversary.”
Qiao Jing found Zhan Qipei’s actions laughably absurd but refrained from laughing out loud because he was so earnest.
She had heard of anniversaries for weddings and acquaintances, but never of a ‘No Divorce’ anniversary.
“A ‘No Divorce’ anniversary? Are you sure?”
Zhan Qipei nodded solemnly and took the necklace out of the box.
“Yes.”
He carefully placed the diamond-studded necklace around her neck.
