Pregnant During An Apocalypse [BL]-Chapter 139 - Blue flames
Chapter 139: Chapter 139 - Blue flames
The cool early morning air greeted them like a slap.
They were on foot now.
Yunfeng bent over, panting heavily, his hands on his knees. The city stretched out before them—ruined, lifeless, eerie in the growing dawn. Cars were abandoned in the middle of the road, windows shattered, belongings scattered like people had fled in a hurry.
Some buildings were on fire, thick black smoke curling into the sky.
Jai pressed a hand to his chest. "Shit... I think I’m gonna puke."
Yunfeng ignored him, ripping open the duffel bag. It contained a few water bottles, canned food, a hunting knife, and some bandages.
Their entire survival depended on this one bag.
And one gun.
Yunfeng cursed under his breath. It wasn’t enough.
His heart pounded. They were losing precious time.
He quickly grabbed his phone from his pocket and checked the map—
The screen flickered.
And then—black.
Only his own wide-eyed reflection stared back at him.
A beat of silence.
Then pure panic.
"Shit—shit—no, no, no!" Yunfeng pressed the power button repeatedly, shaking the phone as if that would bring it back to life.
Jai, still catching his breath, squinted at him. "Did your phone die?"
Yunfeng’s hands trembled. "It just—went out! It was working fine a second ago!"
His eyes snapped to Jai. "Give me yours."
Without waiting, he plucked Jai’s phone from his pocket and hit the power button.
Nothing.
Yunfeng froze.
Jai licked his lips. "...That’s weird."
And then, a deep rumbling shook the sky.
Both of them looked up—
Fighter jets.
At least a dozen. Their metallic bodies cut through the morning sky, casting long shadows over the ruined city.
And suddenly, Yunfeng understood.
His fingers went cold.
"The EMP attack..." His voice came out in a whisper. "They took out the communication systems."
Jai looked at him sharply. "What?"
"The government—they used an EMP to disable electronics. That’s why our phones are dead, why there are no broadcasts, no communication—"
A horrifying realization gripped him.
He slowly turned back to the sky.
Jai followed his gaze, frowning. "Yunfeng?"
Yunfeng’s throat felt dry. His lips trembled.
"Next... they’re going to bomb the city."
Jai stiffened.
His hands curled into fists. "You’re serious."
Yunfeng slowly nodded, eyes still locked on the jets overhead.
"We need to get Hana out before that happens."
Yunfeng’s chest tightened. His heart pounded against his ribs.
They had limited supplies. No working phones. No car. And now, a time limit.
Jai let out a short, bitter laugh. "So, you’re saying we need to cross a city full of undead, find Hana, and get out before those fighter jets drop bombs on our heads?"
Yunfeng nodded grimly.
Jai ran a hand through his hair. "I hate my life."
A distant explosion rocked the air. Yunfeng’s head snapped toward the source. Thick smoke curled from a distant building, followed by faint, echoing screams.
He clenched his fists. "No time to waste. Let’s move."
Into the City
They moved cautiously down the abandoned road.
The eerie silence was unnatural. No honking cars, no buzzing phones, no distant city chatter.
Only the occasional moan of the undead.
Yunfeng’s pulse raced every time they turned a corner, expecting to run into a horde of flesh-hungry monsters.
Jai kept his gun drawn, scanning every shadow. "How far was that warehouse?"
"By car? About twenty minutes."
Jai groaned. "On foot?"
"An hour, maybe more."
A metallic clang rang out ahead of them. They both froze.
Yunfeng instinctively raised the machine gun. Jai tightened his grip on his pistol.
A figure stumbled into the road.
For a moment, Yunfeng’s breath caught in his throat.
A man. Still human. His clothes were torn, his face streaked with dirt and blood. He clutched his side, limping heavily.
Yunfeng lowered his gun slightly. "Hey! Are you okay?"
The man’s head snapped up.
His eyes were wild.
Desperate.
And then, he bolted toward them.
Jai instinctively raised his gun. "Back off!"
The man ignored him.
"Help me! Please!" he screamed, reaching for Yunfeng’s shirt.
Yunfeng stepped back. "Wait—what happened to you?"
But the man didn’t stop.
"I need to get out! They’re everywhere! They’re—"
A shadow lunged from behind him.
A woman—or what was left of her.
Her rotting arms wrapped around the man’s shoulders. He screamed as her teeth sank into his neck.
Blood sprayed across the pavement.
Yunfeng and Jai stumbled back, horrified.
The man screamed. His legs kicked wildly as the zombie dragged him to the ground, tearing into his flesh.
More moans filled the air.
From the shadows, figures started emerging. fɾeewebnoveℓ.co๓
One... four... seven... more.
Yunfeng’s stomach dropped.
The city was waking up.
Jai grabbed his arm. "Yunfeng—run!"
The screams of the dying man mixed with the low, hungry moans of the undead closing in.
Yunfeng’s heart slammed against his ribs.
Jai grabbed his wrist. "Run, damn it!"
But Yunfeng’s feet wouldn’t move.
Not because of fear.
Because something inside him had changed.
A sudden rush of heat surged through his veins, spreading from his chest to his limbs like liquid fire.
His vision blurred. The edges of the world darkened, yet in the center—everything sharpened. Every detail became painfully clear. He could hear the wet squelch of teeth tearing into flesh, the wind whistling past a broken window, the deep thudding of his own heartbeat.
Then Jai’s panicked voice broke through. "Yunfeng, MOVE!"
The first zombie lunged.
Yunfeng barely registered what happened next.
His body moved on its own.
Fast. Too fast.
One second, the zombie was flying at him. The next—he caught it by the throat.
His fingers crushed the decayed flesh like paper. The creature twitched violently in his grasp, clawing at his arm.
Then, with inhuman strength, Yunfeng swung it like a rag doll and slammed it into the pavement. The sickening crack of its skull echoed in the empty street.
Jai staggered back. "What the hell—?!"
Yunfeng panted, his breath coming in sharp gasps. His hands trembled, his muscles tingling with raw power.
His eyes burned.
Jai’s shocked gaze met his. "Your... your eyes!"
Yunfeng turned slightly, catching his reflection in a shattered car window.
His irises glowed—a bright blue-green, swirling like raging ocean waves.
But there was no time to process it.
The other zombies charged.
Yunfeng moved.
He twisted, dodging the first attack with unnatural speed. His foot lashed out, kicking a zombie so hard its body flipped midair before crashing onto the pavement.
Another lunged—he caught its arm and yanked.
With a sickening rip, the limb tore clean from the socket.
Jai stood frozen, mouth open. "Holy. Shit."
A zombie rushed him from behind. Yunfeng whirled around.
His hand shot forward.
Fingers wrapped around the creature’s skull, crushing it with a single squeeze.
The undead dropped lifelessly at his feet.
Yunfeng panted, his mind spinning.
What was this? This strength? This speed?
He clenched his fists. His skin still tingled with that overwhelming energy.
Was he... turning into one of them?
Jai, still wide-eyed, slowly raised his gun. "Dude, you’re freaking me out."
Before Yunfeng could answer—
More growls echoed from the alleyways.
The rotten stench of decay thickened in the air as more zombies poured out of shattered buildings. Their hungry moans rose in a deafening chorus, their bodies moving like a tide of death.
Yunfeng gritted his teeth, his newfound strength burning through his veins, but even that wasn’t enough.
They were too many.
Jai fired his gun wildly, but the bullets weren’t stopping them fast enough.
Yunfeng fought viciously, breaking limbs, smashing skulls, but for every undead he put down, five more took its place.
Then—
A loud hiss.
A sudden harsh scent stung his nose.
His eyes flicked to the side, spotting a car tilted at an odd angle. The metal of its frame was dented, the hood slightly open, exposing the engine. Underneath, a dark liquid leaked from a cracked gas valve, spreading across the pavement.
Diesel.
His heart hammered.
Jai noticed it too. "If we can light that up—"
A zombie lunged. Yunfeng twisted, snapping its arm backward until bones cracked through flesh. He threw it aside, panting. His energy was fading.
Jai reloaded, his voice strained. "We don’t have a damn lighter!"
More zombies rushed. The moans were everywhere, their clawing hands almost closing in.
Desperation squeezed Yunfeng’s throat.
We’re going to die.
Then—
Something inside him snapped.
A sharp tingle ran down his arm. His fingers twitched.
And then, suddenly—
A spark.
It was tiny, barely visible, flickering between his fingertips.
Yunfeng’s breath hitched.
Jai saw it too. His eyes went wide. "What the—"
The spark grew.
A small flicker of blue-green flame danced on Yunfeng’s palm, like a living thing. It crackled, wild and uncontrolled.
"What... the hell is this?" Yunfeng whispered.
Jai barely had time to process before Yunfeng threw his hand forward.
The flame leaped from his palm.
For a second, it flickered harmlessly in the air.
Then—
BOOM!
A fiery explosion erupted.
The leaking diesel ignited instantly, flames racing along the ground like a hungry beast. Heat blasted through the air, sending zombies flying, their bodies engulfed in an inferno.
The night lit up in a burst of orange and blue, the explosion roaring through the empty streets.
Jai staggered back, shielding his face from the heat. His mouth opened in shock.
Yunfeng’s chest heaved, his glowing eyes reflecting the raging fire.
The undead screeched in agony, their decayed flesh melting under the merciless flames.
For the first time since the outbreak—
They stopped coming.
Jai turned to Yunfeng, voice hoarse.
"Dude. What the fuck are you?"
