Lin Zhengran and Jiang Xueli hurried out the door. Sitting in the living room watching TV, Little He Qing and Han Wenwen looked puzzled.

Little He Qing asked, “What’s going on, Lin Zhengran? Why the rush?”

While walking, Lin Zhengran gave instructions: “There’s some trouble at Lili’s home. I’m going back with her to check on things. You two just stay home. When Jingshi gets back, go eat together—no need to wait for us.”

Han Wenwen and He Qing stood up. The little fox said, “Lili’s family is in trouble? Can’t we go too? Maybe we can help.”

Lin Zhengran turned his head and smiled. “No need, it shouldn’t be anything major. If all goes well, we’ll be back tonight. We’re off.”

Jiang Xueli also chimed in, “We’re going now,” then followed Lin Zhengran out of the house and got into a car to leave.

Little He Qing and Han Wenwen chased them to the door, watching as the two left by car, then exchanged a worried glance.

In the car, Lin Zhengran and Lili both sat in the back. Jiang Xueli called her family again.

But this time, Aunt Jiang didn’t answer—the phone showed she was already on a call. Clearly, things were hectic on her end.

Sweat covered Jiang Xueli’s forehead from anxiety.

Lin Zhengran took her hand. “Don’t worry. It doesn’t sound like something that can’t be fixed.”

She turned and looked at Lin Zhengran—the one who always gave her a sense of safety—and tried her best to smile and nod.

With him there, Jiang Xueli was able to calm down a lot.

Once her emotions were steadied, Lin Zhengran took out his phone and called Pan Lin:

“Hey, Pan Lin? Are you free right now? Mm, I need you to send a few people over to Fuhua Community. There’s a big crowd gathering there. Just go in the name of the company, calm everyone down. I’m still on my way and will take a while to get there.”

It was just after noon, and around 12 p.m., three cars pulled up outside the Fuhua Community.

Pan Lin had received the call and brought the team.

At the community entrance, they saw the road lined with parked cars—at least four or five times more than normal.

It was so jammed that even parking was impossible.

Once inside the community, from a distance they could already hear a ruckus. Many residents had gathered nearby to watch the commotion.

A group of people surrounded Jiang Xueli’s parents, shouting all sorts of things.

“President Jiang, you have to give us a solution! The factory hasn’t paid us in over four months already. You and President Wang promised that we’d get paid after this batch was done. Now the boss has run off, and you can’t just walk away from this!”

“Yeah, we all need money. My son’s even sick right now. Why is the factory suddenly shut down? Don’t tell me you’re planning to run away too.”

“You’ve got to give us our wages no matter what. We worked hard for the past six months. Some of us even paid out of pocket for meals. You can’t just leave us hanging. That’s heartless.”

Uncle Jiang was in the middle of it all, overwhelmed and unable to explain himself.

“Everyone, please calm down. I didn’t expect things to turn out this way either. It’s not that I don’t want to pay you—it’s just that this issue isn’t just about your wages. The factory has a big penalty to pay to the buyer because of a broken contract. Please give me some time to figure something out.”

But the workers wouldn’t listen. “We don’t care about all that. We just want our wages. Pay us now, and we don’t care if the factory shuts down or fires us. But we want our wages right now!”

“Yeah, just pay us our wages and everything else will be fine.”

Uncle and Aunt Jiang looked at the dozens of workers and felt as if their hair was turning white from stress.

Pan Lin, dressed in a suit, walked up and shouted, “Everyone quiet down!”

Workers and onlookers turned around. Uncle and Aunt Jiang also looked over.

They saw Pan Lin leading a group of a dozen people in suits, slowly approaching.

This imposing sight instantly quieted the crowd.

Though Pan Lin usually wasn’t very stern in front of Lin Zhengran or Jiang Jingshi, as a personal secretary, she had picked up some of Jingshi’s commanding presence. Her tone was sharp:

“Enough shouting! Causing a scene like this in broad daylight—don’t you think the neighbors deserve some peace? You’ve even blocked the roads around the community. You’re all employees of Zhenxin Products, right? If there’s an issue, go deal with it at the factory.”

One of the workers asked curiously, “Who are you?”

Pan Lin pulled out her company badge.

“I’m Pan Lin, secretary to President Lin and President Jiang of Zhengshi Company. President Lin sent me here today. Zhengshi will take care of this. If you want your wages, behave and go back to the factory. President Lin is on his way, and this will be resolved today.”

“Zhengshi Company…” the workers looked at each other. Zhengshi was now the most well-known big company in Zitong City, employing tens of thousands. After confirming her credentials, the crowd actually quieted down right away.

They asked, “Are you sure we’ll get paid today?”

Pan Lin raised her eyebrows. “Of course. If President Lin says it’ll be handled, it’ll be handled. Don’t worry about your wages—no matter how big the problem, it’ll be solved. If you trust me, head back to the factory now. If you don’t, feel free to keep standing here.”

The workers discussed it briefly, then nodded and followed Pan Lin’s team back to the factory.

Only Uncle and Aunt Jiang stood staring at each other. They had heard everything.

Aunt Jiang asked her husband in confusion, “Zheng… Zhengshi Company? Isn’t that the biggest company in our province? Why are they involved in our business? Did you ask them?”

Uncle Jiang was also baffled. “Ask them? If I had that kind of pull, would we be in this mess?” After the workers left, the couple, nervous and overwhelmed, walked over.

They shook hands with Pan Lin.

Uncle Jiang said, “Um… hello. Did you say you’re the secretary to the president of Zhengshi Company?”

Pan Lin saw how scared the couple was—they didn’t even dare raise their voices—and smiled. “Yes, I’m Pan Lin. President Lin sent me here to solve your problem. Are you the people in charge of Zhenxin Products?”

Uncle Jiang quickly nodded. “Yes, I’m the current factory director. But you said President Lin… President Lin is?”

Pan Lin figured Lin Zhengran must have rushed when calling, and hadn’t had time to explain clearly.

“I can’t go into details right now. President Lin called me personally. You don’t need to worry anymore—just come with me to the factory. He’ll be there shortly.”

The couple didn’t know the specifics, but it was obvious this President Lin was here to help them.

So everyone followed Pan Lin and went to the factory.

At the gate of Zhenxin Products, many people were chatting, wondering why the famous Zhengshi Company was helping this small factory. freewebnøvel.coɱ

People speculated that maybe Director Jiang had some kind of secret connection?

Everyone was buzzing with theories, but Uncle Jiang was actually sweating bullets. He didn’t dare ask too much—he just stood with his wife and the secretary from this major corporation, waiting nervously at the guard post for President Lin’s arrival.

Pan Lin offered them water to calm their nerves, but the couple declined and waved her off.

Pan Lin sighed. “You don’t need to be so nervous. If I’m not mistaken, you’re Jiang Xueli’s parents, right?”

Uncle and Aunt Jiang exchanged a glance and nodded. “Yes… wait, you know Lili too?”
