Chapter 16: The Event of Hunting Lord Inferno (2) Part II

“Leave me alone already! Go fight someone your size!!” The screamer continued yelling at the monster as if it could understand human language. Hearing that guy, Maysa started to sense some disaster.

“Get away from me!” An agile-looking figure of someone was appearing in the pervading dust and smoke. He was running at full speed, shouting as the enormous monster was chasing after him. Lord Inferno did not seem to be getting over this gold medal runner who had woken it up any time soon.

And for an observer like Maysa, she already gasped in shock since the first time she saw that familiar messy hair!!

“KYAAA!! Wisana! What the hell are you doing there?!” The name’s owner, who was running for his life, looked up when he heard his friend’s voice.

“May! Help!! This big guy’s trying to kill me!”

“The hell am I supposed to do?!”

“Anything!”

“Wisana, watch out!”

They could not discuss anything more when Maysa screamed, seeing Lord Inferno draw up his gigantic hand in order to send Wisana away like those players.

WHOOSH!

“Whoa! That was close!”

He rolled off to evade the attack while other players, who were watching this, shuddered with the guy’s near-death experience. They all feared for him since they had witnessed what happened when the big guy flicked his hand.

“Hoo! If I had moved a bit slower, I guess, ...KYAA!”

WHOOSH!!

That was another time that Wisana could dodge away from the attack in the nick of time. The man with animal instinct glanced up at the monster boss from hell, gulping his sticky saliva down. The instinct was screaming from the back of his mind to ...RUN!!

“May! Help me!”

“KYAA!! Don't come this way, you moron! I don’t wanna die with you!”

That was not a lie. That moron was bringing a disaster to his beloved party mate by pulling the demon boss in her direction. Of course, a person like Maysa would never wish for death, as well as the other players who started packing up their stuff to leave immediately.

BOOM!!

A sound like thunder loudened when the monster lashed its hand up on the spot where Maysa was standing seconds ago, shaking the whole floor. There were many unfortunate players who could not evade the attack. They were lying defeated on the floor, cursing at the man who pulled the bad luck upon them.

“Wisana, you have to pull him to those with levels that can fight. They’ll help you!” Maysa shouted to her buddy as she was running on the ridge. And the buddy just kept running parallel with her, not sure if he was trying to find some help or someone to go down with him.

“ARGH! Stop following me! I don’t want to die!” Maysa cried.

“Then don’t leave me!!” The other cried back.

“I don’t want to leave, but I might survive if he has you.”

“You jerk!”

“No. You're the jerk! How the hell did you pull him up here? Your tiny little brain never tells you your limits, or your troublemaker sense was kicking in again, so you couldn’t stop looking for one?!” She shouted the harsh insults aloud, making the one who was running below crease his face.

“Well, I can’t argue with that.”

GROWL!!!

When Lord Inferno saw that the prey was still lively and energetic enough to shout and bicker with his friend casually as if he had completely forgotten about it, it felt a bit butt hurt(?) by that. So, it growled to get their attention, speeding up its pace to get Wisana.

“Holy lord! You were walking the whole time?! And now you’re gonna run?!”

“Don’t underestimate him, Wisana,” Maysa warned. “I took a scan on him; his intelligence is S rank. If you take him for just a corny computer, you might as well pick a hill to die on.”

“Sh*t! What should I do?” The reckless one yelled, about to lose it at any moment.

“Calm down. Use your items! Anything that can save your butt!” The high-pitched said from the other side, sounding calmer now. Wisana nodded in response, knowing that she was trying to get his about-to-lose self together. The enemy he was fighting was a supercomputer with an 800 IQ anyway!

“KYAA!!”

WHOOSH!!

The sound of something going fast through the air made Wisana’s sense of survival kick in again. He shifted to avoid the attack.

BOOM!!

“Whoa, that was so close!” He signed in relief for not getting cut by those sharp claws. After he could get away from death just by inches, Wisana looked up at his friend, face creased.

“Why are you screeching, May? I'm the one getting killed!”

“I’m thrilled!” Maysa whined, running on the upper floor. Her brain was trying to figure out a way for her party mate to get out of the demon’s sight. Because now he was in the range of Lord Inferno’s attack again!

No time to waste, Wisana brought up his inventory window and randomly grabbed something on the screen. As soon as he saw an item like a green hand grenade in his hand, he did not hesitate to pull out the safety pin, slowing down for a second, and throwing it to that damn boss of hell right away!

The small bomb was flying directly into Lord Inferno before it exploded with a loud noise.

BOOM!!!

850!

It blasted right in Lord Inferno’s face, making it pause. A satisfied smirk appeared on Wisana’s face when his attack hit.

Even though it was kind of weird that the damage point popped up in green color.

“You moron! What’s the point of hitting him with that bomb?!” Maysa scolded with a treble voice.

“To stun him! And to attack, didn't you see that 850 points?!”

“I did! But the numbers were green, meaning that you just buffed his HP. Idiot!”

“Huh?!” The one who just accidentally buffed his enemy cried in a high-pitched voice. The dragon-like head went still before it started smirking to mock Wisana’s stupidity.

“He’s a fire monster. Throwing a firebomb at him is like you want to make him stronger! Ugh! And why are you standing there? Keep moving! You want to see the respawn fountain?!”

“Huh? Oh! That makes sense!”

WHOOSH!!

He almost got sent back to the respawn point like Maysa wished. Luckily, his instinct helped him avoid the boss’s attack for another time. The moderate figure started running again as his hand was busy on the inventory window.

“This is it! It’ll definitely work!” Wisana shouted as he pulled out another bomb, a grey one this time. He plucked off the safety pin and threw it at the monster!

BONK!

1

A weird noise came with a damage point that was so little it started to look pathetic. Wisana raised eyebrows when the bomb did not cause any damage to the red demon other than creating a cloud of white smoke floating around its head.

“Idiot! You threw the smoke bomb to choke him or what?!”

“Sh*t! What's the good of these damn bombs exactly?!”

WHOOSH!!

His sense commanded him to dodge to the right. This was the fifth time that Wisana could evade Lord Inferno’s attack.

Well... at least his moves like a cockroach were still useful, even though his brain was the same size as a cockroach's, too!

Now Wisana started to get exhausted since he had not stopped running for quite a long time. Plus, the pressure from Lord Inferno’s strength and the huge gaps between their levels would definitely have an effect on his nerves.

Eventually, he would get slower, and the monster’s attack would get him if it tried to slap him a couple more times.

For this reason, his hands were desperately searching for the item that could save him.

“This surely works!” He said as he threw a yellow bomb at the monster chasing after him. He shouted.

“May! Don't look this way!!”

BANG!

A soft bang sounded, but it was followed by a beam of light so bright that Maysa had to turn away. At the same time, Wisana held up his hands to cover his eyes from the effect of the ...flash bomb!

GRRRRR!!

It worked! Finally, Lord Inferno growled when the flash dazzled its eyes for a moment. Now the gigantic figure was struggling at that spot.

“How about that, huh? Served you right, you stupid reptile. I got you screeched.” He punched the air, kicking dust on the floor to mock the stunned monster. Maysa yelled, sounding so pissed at the guy.

“Get your ass up here, Wisana. What are you waiting for? An invitation card?! Come on, hurry up. The bosses won’t be stunned for long!”

“It’s fine. He's so blind now. Can I just have a couple of kicks for my revenge first?”

“I can’t believe this guy... Stop messing around already!”

BOOM!!!

Right when she finished, the sound of disaster came again. It was true that the monster was currently blind, but the other parts of it were still functioning well. So, it whipped the spiky tail on the wall next to them, sending pieces of concrete flying in every direction.

The thing was that some of them were falling on where Wisana was standing, too.

“KYAA! Wisana, watch out!” Maysa screeched.

“How can it be so messed up?” The cocky man a few seconds ago looked up at the pieces of concrete that were falling on him due to the gravitational law, accepting his fate.

Well, he might have some evasion skill, but how could the skill work with this many rocks to evade?!

“Whoa!” He yelled as he struggled to restrain his life for who knew what the counting time it was already of the day. The tall figure stepped out to the side, just in time to avoid getting crushed by a piece of the wall. He looked up at the rest of them, pressing lips together tightly.

In the meantime, his brain was running fast. The pair of amber eyes narrowed as his instinct told him to blend down before he said.

“Full power jump!”
