Pride Online-Chapter 24: The Event of Hunting the Lord Inferno (End) Part II

“Now, give each other some love, you two have so much to work together. Don't forget, teamwork makes dreams work.” The first part made them both stop giggling with each other and turn in opposite directions, their faces reddening. Then it was Maysa’s turn to smile amusingly at them. She drawled her voice as she continued to tease them out of fun.

“Well, well, guys, what are you thinking? I meant to tell you to trust and support each other as much as you can, so the work will be successful. I wasn’t talking about any other kind of love.”

“Y... yeah! I know that, Maysa!” Warunya’s voice was shaking as she was trying to defend herself, and Wisana could not stop blushing. So, the bully busted out with a laugh again before she handed her guns to Warunya.

“Could you use 100 of the crystals to mix with my guns? I want to change them into water element, too, so they’re more effective on the boss.”

“Sure.” After the affirmative, Warunya added the pair of beautiful guns to her queue to mix, enthusiastically.

“I want you to carry the remaining 1,000 crystals, Vincent.”

“Why?”

“Because I said so. They'll be useful, trust me.” She finished brushing him off, then Maysa brought out a big set of items from her inventory window.

“Now, let’s share the necessary items. Try not to waste them, okay? I have 5 bottles of berserk potion, 14 bottles of pixie potion, and 58 flash bombs. Well, the HP potion is useless, though, since we’ll be dead instantly with one hit.” The last part got everyone nodding in agreement before they picked up those items from their shares.

“Okay, we’ll be ready to go as soon as Warunya finishes mixing these items.” The team leader turned to nod with Wisana. “Don’t forget that we have limited time and items, so whatever we do, we need to do it fast. And you, Vincent.”

“Yeah?”

“Give it all you got. No need to hold back. Remember that you’re the key to our victory!”

It had been almost 10 minutes now.

Ten minutes that Lord Inferno had been wandering around, jobless. The monster in dragon form was looking for Wisana everywhere, but it was no use, only wasting its time. It was very resentful to think that its biggest enemy might have run off already. So, now that it was just stepping on the players who were here for the photo quest flat under its feet with boredom.

The second later, it folded the pair of broad wings back down, since there was no need to use them anymore.

BOOM!!!

In the blink of an eye, there were three figures launched out of the building with speed, the bright blazing flame trailing behind them. As soon as Lord Inferno saw that, the monster growled out aloud to welcome them.

GRRROWL!!

The loud growl drew the attention of the observers on the top of another building to look down at it immediately.

“They’re here!” Waree was the first to shout, the pair of light green eyes flashing the trace of delight.

“I told you,” Thada said shortly, face painting a smile.

Wisana flew out with Warunya in his arms and Maysa holding tightly onto one of his legs. The moment she saw the massive body of the monster, she then put on the round eyeglasses again.

“Scanner!” She shouted as the enemy’s information came up.

The last part brought a mocking smirk to her gentle face before she commanded decisively.

“Vincent, drop me off here and proceed to the plan!”

“Got it. Be careful.”

“You, too, bro.” She said then she let go of Wisana. Maysa was sliding on the roof of a building until she could hop to the ground. She looked up, winking at them as in ‘it’s time to have fun,’ and the air force team nodded in reply, smiling.

“Warunya, ready?” Wisana asked.

“Yes!”

BOOM!!

The flame wings on his back suddenly blasted, sending both of them flying straight into Lord Inferno with great speed. That was an unexpected act of them for the monster, and it made the monster pause and draw back a little bit.

GRROWL!!!

The fire demon tried to frighten the enemies with a loud growl, but they did not even flinch. The amber eyes of Wisana stared calmly at the gigantic monster as he was rushing forward with full speed. It was almost too late for the Lord Inferno before it realized that Wisana was really coming at it this time. So, the monster’s instinct commanded it to attack before getting attacked. It drew the massive hand up and slapped it at Wisana harshly!

WHOOSH!

The attack became just the sound of something big moving through the air quickly as Wisana twisted to the side a bit, and the fire monster missed him so easily.

“Now! Warunya!” She did not hesitate to pull off the safety pin before she threw the bomb at Lord Inferno precisely!

BOOM!

The damage point popped up as the ice blasted on the fire monster, covering the massive body as it was screaming in pain. The chill froze up its muscles, making them numb and slow down.

“Great! It can get freeze debuff, too!” On the ground, Maysa yelled out to celebrate their first success. She then brought out her favorite pistols.

“It’s my turn, now!”

Drill Shot!

Not wasting any time, Maysa held the guns up, aiming them to the red target before she pulled the triggers. A loud bang came with turquoise beams, shooting out of the barrels straight through Lord Inferno, causing it to growl painfully.

Almost at the same time that the damage point floated up.

“Wow, this is more effective than I thought.” Maysa smiled so sweetly, blowing the smoke off the tip of the barrel.

GRROWL!!

Lord Inferno’s growl echoed through the ground. Its red, glowing eyes gazed at Maysa angrily after she sneaked attacked it. It gnarred furiously, shaking the thick layer of ice off itself to dispel the debuff. Then it turned to her, drawing the hand up to slap her to dust at once.

“Vincent, Warunya, now!!”

“Roger!” The shout came from the other side. Wisana hastily flew in between them to block Lord Inferno, making the attack pause. And this gave Warunya the chance to throw another freezing blast at the fire demon’s hand!

The monster stopped when the thick layer of ice coated its face, but it brushed it off right away without getting frozen up by the debuff. However, this was enough to prove that their distraction plan by the air force team worked!

Lord Inferno seemed to have already forgotten that it was coming at Maysa since its main target was in sight again.

“Whoa!” Wisana yelled, almost got hit. “Jinnie! Keep checking the butterfly effect energy. Alarm me immediately when it’s lower than 2000!”

“Will do, master,” Jinnie replied enthusiastically, popping up a screen to show the information for Wisana to see.

The number was rapidly dropping just like his heart. How long would he still be flying?!

“Vincent!!”

“Huh? Argh!!”

Lord Inferno’s spiky tail almost got Wisana since he was busy worrying about the energy. Luckily, his sense and instinct were still functioning and helped him evade the attack, though bumpily.

“I told you to not stop moving, moron! You die, and we’re doomed, remember?!” Maysa scolded him once again after who knew how many times she had already scolded him today.

“Sorry. I was kinda calculating the remaining energy...”

“No need to calculate anything! Don’t force yourself too hard on trying to think! Just keep moving like a good laborer you are!”

“Ouch, that’s harsh.” Her words hurt so much when they were kind of true, making the handsome face crease for a few seconds. And when he saw Warunya’s soft smile, Wisana chuckled.

“Yeah, sure then. Let’s go!” As decided, the air force commando started showing off their stunt flying skills to dodge the attack from Lord Inferno smoothly, with Warunya’s precisely freezing blast shooting.

So far, the flying team had made more than two hundred thousand points on the red demon!

But that land combat force like Maysa could not be underestimated, either.

The slender figure took the chance to shoot at the boss from behind when it was busy chasing after the flying team. And when it turned around to get back at her, Wisana would fly in between them just to piss it off more. He always got Lord Inferno’s attention, because he showed up with the icy blast to splash all over the monster’s face every time. The fire demon just could not stand this annoying burnt wing fly, so it kept on trying to slap it away!

With this teamwork, they could continuously attack it. Maysa waited on the ground for the chance to shoot so elegantly. And as soon as Lord Inferno quit paying attention to her, she would move to another spot to fire at the monster’s butt, not even missing a single shot.

Not only did the tactic save her from getting caught, but it also lowered her chances of getting slapped back by more than 90%!

Maysa did not use the drill shot like the first shot, since it had to be delayed for 2 minutes before the next shot was ready. However, her rapid firing still did more than four hundred thousand on Lord Inferno!

“Excellent.” Thada, who had been watching the battle from the beginning, eventually complimented them.

“That’s true. They're doing great.” The light brown hair woman next to him could not help but agree. “But Thada, how do they attack with such damage? Judging from their equipment, they don’t look like a player with level 150. How do they get rid of the level’s difference rule?”

“Magtiria potion.”

His short answer got the pair of pretty green eyes widening.

“Oh, right. The potion to double our attack point,” she said. “I see, they’re very smart.”

“Not only just that.” The hoarse, gentle voice continued. “They also changed all their weapons’ elements into water element, from the bombs to even the bullets. That means their attacks are four times stronger.”

“Attacking with the predominant element will double the damage, that’s right.” The woman said, looking amazed.

“Moreover, another thing that gives them the advantage is the Berserk mode of Lord Inferno itself.”

“Berserk mode, how?” Waree repeated, raising her voice.

“It’s the skill that increases Lord Inferno’s attack by 50%, but it will only target one player. And half of its armor points will be decreased.”

“Well, and that means...”

“Yes. This skill gives the players an advantage to multiply their damage, so they can attack the boss with higher levels so easily. Let’s just say that not only did they figure out the way to get rid of the level’s differences rule, but also the way to make a profit out of it, too.”

“Wow.” Waree drawled her voice, smiling sweetly.

“Their strategy is to attack from both sides. They take turns to attack then retreat, using the other as a decoy, and that decoy is incredibly fast, though.”

“Hit & Away, isn’t it? This strategy really requires a lot of teamwork.”

“Yeah, it is. They use the berserk potion to decrease the cooldown of their skill from 60 to 1, as well. It means that skills that need a couple of minutes to cast will be shortened to a couple of seconds. I've got to admit that the one who planned this really thought it through.” Until now, a cold smile appeared on his handsome face.

“Eh? Doesn't the berserk potion decrease half of the player’s armor points?”

“They probably think that it doesn’t matter how many armors they have, they’ll be over in one hit anyway. So, they take the risk.”

The smile on Waree’s pretty face went broader as the man explained. Her eyes were sparkling, getting overexcited by the battle in front of her.

It was the fact that she had never seen someone who fought so recklessly like this before. Judging from the tactic they used, she could guarantee that their health points would be so small that they would be sent to respawn in the hospital right away if they were hit with just one attack.

The most impressive thing was their plan.

Someone who could come up with something like this would definitely be a genius!

“I guess your boss is fine now. Congratulations that it won’t get banned for being too OP like you’ve been worried about anymore,” Waree said with a chuckle, patting Thada's shoulder. However, the young GM did not respond, his sharp eyes were gazing at the fight below, looking considered. Eventually, he let out a long sigh.

“It’s too soon to say that. Nam. Like I said, the boss will get tougher when it comes down to low HP.” he finished as he brought up an information window. “Looks like its HP has been lowered to 12 million already. Just for a moment, you wait and see.”
