Primordial Expanse: I have the Strongest Talent!-Chapter 629: Mira
'I'll wrap things up in Andromeda, then head over towards the Central regions.' Alex thought to himself.
He stood alone on the deck of his ship, untouched by the eerie silence of what remained of the New Dawn system.
Like he'd just told Althea, he'd done his part by getting revenge for the countless lives lost in the attack. They at least deserved that much, no matter their opinion of him. But asking for even more from him was far too much – to think that she even went so far as to question his past actions as well? That was akin to questioning his loyalty to the human race, accusing him of placing his personal goals above the lives of billions.
Alex might have felt even more maddened and sickened by it if it weren't for his higher priorities.
Nobody knew the burden that he carried. And nobody could ever know, and it tore at him mentally. He wished he could tell Mira everything and share the burden with the one person he trusted most in this forsaken universe. But was sane enough to see how that would be catastrophic.
The moment he even voiced an ounce of his intentions or plans, the System would learn of it. From that moment onwards, the System would place the biggest target on his back of any other being in the universe. It might even send over the last remaining Universal Gods, who had become its slaves, just to deal with the threat he posed.
His thoughts soon drifted back to Mira.
"...Tch."
He clicked his tongue quietly.
'I should've contacted her first.'
Alex closed his eyes for just a moment to steady himself.
Then walked back over to the console and called her.
Ding!
The call was picked up almost instantly. Alex could almost imagine her reaction once she saw his call suddenly pop up. The image of her gasping in shock and hurriedly moving to answer it gave him a hearty laugh.
"Alex!"
Her voice immediately carried over from her side. It was like music to Alex's ears.
Tears were streaming down her face and her voice was too choked up to speak any more words, only able to utter his name and nothing more.
Seeing his face was all it took to bring her to this state.
Alex was unable to hold himself back, seeing her like this. Tears of his own started to trickle down his face. 'Mira…'
His voice caught in his throat, just begging to let her in on his plans.
Only after a minute did she eventually calm down enough to speak intelligible words…
"I–I thought…" She murmured.
"You should know not to worry about me by now."
Alex smiled gently.
"But that Divine beast… You both disappeared at the same time. I thought it had done something to you."
Alex couldn't help but laugh at that. He knew the real Brontes, that beast was so laidback it wouldn't even hurt a fly!
'Unless I told him to.'
"Haha, about that… I guess we have some catching up to do!"
***
Alex spent over an hour catching up with Mira, telling her stories of his time in the Primordial Expanse, while she offered some of her own while he was gone.
"By the way, there's something I've been meaning to tell you this whole call…"
Alex took in a deep breath, preparing himself for how Mira might react.
"I plan on departing Andromeda sometime soon. I'll be heading to the Central galaxies where the true powerhouses of the universe converge. You remember Phoenix and the Overseers, right? That's where they come from."
He gave Mira a few moments to take it all in, worried that she might react differently than he'd hoped.
After all, there was nothing she could do to convince him otherwise. He had no choice but to head there if he wanted to continue growing at his current pace. There was very little left for him in this small corner of the Universe the Human race inhabited.
He was stronger than almost all the S tiers in this region, and he hadn't even reached their level yet. When combined with Brontes, he was an unstoppable force wherever he went.
Except for the central galaxies.
"And I want you to come with me."
The real bombshell finally dropped.
He had no idea for how long he would be gone or if he'd ever be able to return… He might potentially be permanently separated from Mira and at such a distance that she would likely never be able to reach him with the resources and technology at her disposal. Even with the ultimate burden placed on him by Mikhail, that was still something he couldn't accept.
Alex understood that sacrifices had to be made if he wished to see Mikhail's plan become a success, but this was not something he could accept with his current mindset.
'I'm still young. Barely even in my twenties. Mikhail had millions or billions of years behind his belt before he met me. I'm sure he can understand if there's some more added delay to the plan.'
Even though he had the potential to reach the ranks of the Gods faster than anyone before him ever did, that wasn't the wisest approach. It wasn't good to rush things.
The System had been around for an unknown amount of time, but it was there when Mikhail was born, so it's even older than him, at the very least. If he planned on taking down such an almighty entity one day, then he had better make damn sure he set everything up perfectly.
'And who knows, Mira might be able to provide some valuable help along the way.'
Even if she couldn't, he'd still value her presence above all else.
"Mira?" Alex uttered, his tone echoing his worry.
Over ten seconds had gone by, but he was yet to hear an answer from her. The camera didn't help much either, as she was currently out of its view.
"Mira, what's wrong?"
He called out to her once again, but once again.
Nothing…
Crash!
However, when a response finally came, it wasn't what he wanted to hear.
An explosion rang out from her side of the call, cutting the transmission immediately after.
"MIRA!!"
