Primordial Heir: Nine Stars-Chapter 48: Magic Class Drill
Chapter 48: Magic Class Drill
Meanwhile, in another part of the academy, the Mage class was diligently engaged in their morning drill, led by their instructor, Melinda. The training yard was illuminated by the soft glow of dawn, creating a serene atmosphere perfect for enhancing their magical abilities. As the students assembled, the air was filled with a blend of anticipation and determination.
Lux, with striking silver hair blending in the morning sunset, playfully dragged his half-asleep friend Blake into the gathering.
"Come on, Blake! You can’t sleep through this! We’ve got a drill to do!" he urged, his voice a mix of excitement and urgency. Blake groaned, rubbing his eyes, but Lux’s energy was contagious, and he managed to shake off the drowsiness as they joined their classmates.
Melinda stood at the front, her presence commanding yet encouraging.
"Good morning, everyone! Today, we’ll focus on building both physical strength and refining our magical abilities," she announced.
"It’s crucial for us as mages to maintain our physical fitness to support our magical prowess. Yesterday, I’ve already explained the importance of having a good physique. Without further ado let’s us begin!"
The drill commenced with a series of physical conditioning exercises designed to enhance their strength and endurance. The mage cadets began with dynamic stretches and warm-up routines, moving through jumping jacks, lunges, and push-ups. Blake, now more awake, pushed himself alongside Lux, who motivated him with friendly shouts and laughter. He knew the latter wouldn’t stop bothering him if didn’t do it. The camaraderie among the mages was palpable, creating an uplifting atmosphere as they worked together to challenge their limits.
After the physical warm-up, Melinda gathered them for a breathing exercise, emphasizing its importance in both combat and spellcasting.
"Close your eyes and focus on your breath," she instructed. "Inhale deeply through your nose, hold it for a moment, and then exhale slowly through your mouth. Feel the Prana within you and let it flow."
As they practiced, the mage cadets synchronized their breathing, creating a calm and focused ambiance. Blake felt the tension in his body start to release as he inhaled deeply, visualizing the energy circulating through him. Truth be told he may appear most of the time but when it comes magic, he would become another person, after all he truly loved it.
The soothing rhythm helped center their minds, preparing them for the magical focus ahead.
With the breathing exercises complete, Melinda directed their attention to their inherited laws. "Now it’s time to refine your unique abilities. Lux, you’re first!" she called, gesturing for him to step forward.
Lux stood confidently, a spark of excitement in his eyes as he prepared to demonstrate the Law of Light. He raised his hands, summoning radiant beams of light that swirled and danced around him. The brilliance illuminated the courtyard, and the other mages watched in awe as he shaped the light into intricate patterns, showcasing his extraordinary talent. His control over the Law of Light was nothing short of genius, and it inspired his classmates to push their own limits.
Next, it was Blake’s turn. Taking a deep breath, he focused on the Law of Darkness, feeling the familiar chill envelop him. He conjured shadows that flickered at his fingertips, practicing his control over the dark energy. With concentration, he shaped the shadows into forms, ensuring they flowed smoothly without losing their stability. As he practiced, he felt a growing connection to the darkness, a sense of power that fueled his determination.
Finally, Khione, the Ice Queen, prepared to refine her sub-law of water: Ice. With an air of elegance, she stepped forward, her icy blue eyes gleaming with focus. She conjured sparkling shards of ice that floated gracefully in the air, practicing her precision and control. The shards glimmered in the sunlight, and the other mages watched in admiration as she demonstrated her mastery over her element.
As the drill progressed, each mage took their turn showcasing their abilities, pushing themselves to deepen their understanding of their inherited laws. The training yard was filled with a captivating blend of light, darkness, and ice, creating a mesmerizing display of elemental magic.
After an hour of intensive practice, Melinda gathered the class once more. "Excellent work today! You’ve all shown remarkable progress. Remember, the balance between your physical strength and magical abilities is essential for your development as mages. Keep up the hard work!"
As the drill came to an end, the mages felt invigorated, their spirits lifted by the combination of physical exertion and magical practice. Blake, now fully awake and energized, exchanged smiles with Lux feeling a renewed sense of determination. They knew that each day brought them closer to mastering their powers and unlocking their true potential as mages, the road was still long, though.
"I wonder how Nero and Adam are doing?" Lux mumbled as they made their way back.
"Probably exhausted. Don’t forget they’re in the Knight class, and above all, they have that madman for a teacher. They must have trained double, if not triple, what we did," Blake replied, shuddering at the thought of enduring Balrog’s intense training. He would rather die than suffer through the grueling sessions his students faced.
"Fortunately, I’m a mage and not a knight. Otherwise, I’d be stuck in that madman’s hands."
Lux shook his head, amused by Blake’s words. It was true that Balrog had a reputation for being a training fanatic, but he suspected the rumors were exaggerated. If Balrog were truly as mad as people claimed, no one would willingly choose to be under his tutelage, and the school administration wouldn’t keep him as a teacher. Yes, his training was harsh, but it yielded results. He had been one of the most effective instructors for almost twenty years, producing powerful cadets. He couldn’t be that bad after all.
Seeing Lux lost in thoughts, Blake could guess what going through the latter mind, he shook his head ’You always find the good in everyone. That’s man is truly a madman I tell.’
Too lazy to speak this aloud, Blake with his half closed eyes walked back to their dorm, he would sleep for two hours before class, he had just the same idea like a certain someone.
