Private Marriage, Secret Love-Chapter 208: She Will Harm You Sooner or Later
Cameron Fairchild rushed forward, ready to strike, but Ethan Lancaster stopped him.
Raina Reddington saw that it was getting late and quickly walked out.
Cameron Fairchild pointed at her retreating figure. "You think her spending one night here means she’s had a change of heart? Take a good look at that face! Do you really think that phone call was a coincidence? If you hadn’t left then, the thing with Gwen Sharp and me never would’ve happened. In all of Stoneworth, who else would dare drug me?"
Ethan Lancaster’s expression was indifferent. He didn’t care about anything else; all he knew was that Raina Reddington had been kidnapped by Cameron Fairchild and almost assaulted.
"You slept with Gwen Sharp. Was it such a raw deal?"
Cameron Fairchild felt a tightness in his chest. "In her eyes, she’s already died once, and Miles Hawthorne is dead too. She came back carrying the weight of two lives! Fourth Master, sooner or later, she’s going to stick a knife in your back!"
"She won’t," Ethan Lancaster said, coldly averting his gaze. "As for those men of yours, I’ve already had them taken away. And as for you..."
Cameron Fairchild narrowed his eyes in disbelief. "Those men have done work for you too. I trained every single one of them myself. You’re just going to get rid of them, just like that?"
"What else?"
Hearing this, Cameron Fairchild let out a cold laugh. "I actually gave my heart to that woman. So, do you want to find out if her heart belongs to you?"
Ethan Lancaster pulled out a chair and sat down, his movements clearly avoidant. Cameron Fairchild said, enunciating each word, "I can show you exactly who’s more important in her heart: you or Miles Hawthorne."
"Stay out of my business."
"Scared?" Cameron Fairchild had been utterly played by Raina Reddington; how could he just let this go? "So the great Mr. Lancaster gets scared too. Are you afraid you can’t even compete with a dead man?"
"He’s just a dead man. What right does he have to compete with me?"
Cameron Fairchild ruthlessly twisted the knife. "You and I both know perfectly well whether Miles Hawthorne is really dead or not. If he comes back one day, what does that make you?"
Seth Sinclair saw the look on Ethan Lancaster’s face and couldn’t help but caution Cameron Fairchild, "Mr. Fairchild, you should say a little less."
Just then, the phone in Cameron Fairchild’s pocket rang. It was Mr. Fairchild.
Only a single sentence came from the other end, but the rage it contained was audible even to Ethan Lancaster. "You get your ass back here!"
After hanging up, Cameron Fairchild saw several push notifications on his screen, all about him.
He opened one and shoved the phone in Ethan Lancaster’s face. "See this? Your new flame and I are on the front page. She really killed two birds with one stone. Gwen Sharp is completely ruined this time, and I’m not much better off."
Ethan Lancaster pushed Cameron Fairchild’s hand away. "You deserved it."
The two parted on bad terms. Usually, Mr. Fairchild would turn a blind eye to Cameron Fairchild’s outrageous behavior, but this time was different.
After all, no one usually dared to splash his photo so brazenly across the headlines.
When Raina Reddington got to the hospital, the first thing she did was call Miles Hawthorne to let him know she was safe. "You have to be careful. Cameron Fairchild is bound to get desperate."
"The thing I hear most often these days is you telling me to be careful."
Raina Reddington picked up a cup and walked over to get some water. "It’s because I’m worried about you."
"Don’t worry, Raina. I’ll be even more careful and cautious than I was three years ago."
"Okay." Raina didn’t say much more. It was almost time for her shift to start, so she hung up and went back to her desk.
When her shift ended, Raina Reddington received a message from Ian Sinclair. He said he was at the hospital, waiting for her in the parking garage.
Raina walked toward her reserved parking spot and saw Ian Sinclair standing there.
"Why didn’t you come up to find me?"
Ian Sinclair pulled her into his arms, wrapping her in his large coat. Raina instinctively tried to pull back, but he whispered in her ear, "Ethan Lancaster is watching."
Raina gripped his sweater. "Let’s go to the supermarket. We’re probably out of groceries at home."
"Okay."
Raina opened the car door and was about to get in when she heard a voice.
The voice was hesitant, almost disbelieving. "Raina?"
Raina’s hands clenched as several figures approached. Zoe Scott rushed up to her and grabbed her arm. "Raina, is it really you?"
Raina tried to pull her arm away, her expression blank, but Zoe Scott held on tight, refusing to let go. "Raina, it’s me, Mom!"
"I’m sorry, you have the wrong person." 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Ethan Lancaster got out of his car. He watched as Raina Reddington was surrounded by the Reddington family. Although Ronan Reddington didn’t seem as emotional as Zoe Scott, his eyes were red as he stood to the side, looking somewhat at a loss.
"How could I be mistaken? You are my daughter..."
Ian Sinclair reached out and pulled Zoe Scott away. "I’m sorry, but if you continue like this, I’m calling the police."
Raina lifted her gaze and saw her grandmother standing a few steps away. She never expected to meet her grandmother so suddenly. The tip of her nose tingled, and she turned to look at Ethan Lancaster. "Fourth Master, what kind of act are you pulling now?"
"Raina, if you’re alive, why didn’t you come home?" Zoe Scott hugged Raina’s arm again. "For all these years, Mom has been thinking about you, hoping you were still alive, really..."
Zoe’s pull almost made Raina lose her balance. The look on her face finally cracked. "I’m not Raina Reddington!"
Ethan Lancaster watched from the side. ’Raina can disown the rest of the Reddington family, but she could never abandon her grandmother. She needs to return to her own life, not deceive herself by being with someone else.’
"Raina has a mole, I remember where..." As Zoe Scott spoke, she tried to push up Raina’s sleeve. Raina bent her arm, using her other hand to stop Zoe’s wrist. Ian Sinclair stepped forward, his face cold. "Let go!"
Her grandmother took two steps forward and pulled Zoe Scott’s hand away. "She isn’t Raina."
"Mom, what are you talking about?"
Red marks appeared on Raina’s arm where she’d been grabbed. Her grandmother gave Zoe Scott a shove. "She isn’t Raina."
"How is that possible?"
"Grandma," Ethan Lancaster, standing nearby, interjected, "I’ve already had a paternity test done. She is Raina Reddington. I’ve also shown the results to Dad and Mom."
"It’s just a test result. It wouldn’t be hard to fake." The grandmother stood in front of Zoe Scott and said coldly, "What are you crying for? You’re the one who didn’t want that daughter. You threw her on me to raise when she was just a little girl. Whether she’s dead or alive, what difference does it really make to you?"
Ian Sinclair glanced at Raina. She seemed to be trembling, on the verge of collapsing.
He reached out and put an arm around her shoulder, giving her something to lean on.
The grandmother glanced at Raina’s car, then at Ethan Lancaster, and said bluntly, "This girl is very lucky to have people around who care for her and love her. That kind of luck... my ill-fated granddaughter could never have. Why are you all so insistent on treating her as Raina? What are you trying to do? Atone for your sins? Can you ever really atone for some sins?"
