Chapter 45: Chapter 45_1

Lying down beside her, Glades Horne pulled her into his embrace, allowing her to rest on his long arm. His rich voice, like a tender mother singing a captivating lullaby, soothed her, "Sleep now. You’ll have to learn to get used to it."

After all, a husband and wife couldn’t possibly sleep in separate rooms after their wedding ceremony.

Resting on his long arm, listening to his heartbeat, lulled by his rich voice, Julia Bluen slowly drifted into sleep.

The night continued on, now imbued with a touch of warmth.

Only when he noticed the even breathing from the woman in his arms did Glades Horne lower his head to gaze deeply at her lovely, sleeping face. His other slender hand gently, cherishingly caressed her cheek, a faint and tender smile escaping his lips.

Julia, we’re finally sharing a bed.

He had once thought he’d be lying on this meticulously chosen large bed with Ruby Bluen, but at this moment, the one he was holding was Julia—a woman he had always cared for and cherished.

The one he truly loved was her!

He had loved the wrong person and nearly married the wrong one, while she had found a boyfriend. If Nicholas Coldwell hadn’t abandoned her out of greed for wealth, she would have walked down the aisle of the Wedding Chapel with Nicholas. Who could have imagined that after all the twists and turns, he would end up marrying her?

When she had told him with self-mockery that they just made a pair, his mind had suddenly cleared, and he understood why he hadn’t felt that heart-wrenching pain when Ruby Bluen left him.

Because the one he loved was never Ruby Bluen.

Tightening his arm around her, Glades Horne assertively yet tenderly held the sleeping Julia Bluen even tighter.

Thankfully, fate had always favored him, allowing him to see his own heart clearly and to bind her in his arms in the shortest amount of time.

He didn’t dare to imagine what he would do, how crazed with regret he would be, if he had discovered that the person he loved was Julia Bluen only after Ruby had run away, Julia had mocked her own situation, and everything had settled.

So... Cherish!

He wanted to give her the happiest married life, to spend his life spoiling her with tenderness, loving her, melting her, and slowly helping her step out of the shadow of him once being her prospective brother-in-law.

Holding his wife, whom he had nearly missed out on, Glades Horne finally calmed the anger stirred by Orlando Evans and fell asleep.

「At dawn」

When the first ray of sunlight pierced through the heavy curtains into the room, Julia Bluen awoke. However, she felt so comfortable and peaceful in her warm cocoon that she couldn’t bear to get up. She kept her eyes closed, lazing in bed. The bed felt very warm, giving her an intensely familiar sensation.

Well, naturally, her own bed would feel very familiar to her.

Wait a minute.

There was a distinctly male scent.

Suddenly, her eyes flew open, meeting a pair of profound eyes.

Glades Horne!

How could I be in my room? And we’re lying on the same bed? This isn’t my own large bed, is it? Yet that feeling of familiarity was so intense!

Blinking hard several times, Julia Bluen finally regained her senses, and last night’s memories rushed back like a tidal wave. Her face flushed red again.

"Good morning, my dear." Glades Horne’s deep and mellow voice, tinged with a captivating allure, reached her ears, making her face even redder. In the early morning, just waking up, still a bit sleepy with a befuddled expression, her blushing face appeared all the more captivating, causing the look in Glades Horne’s eyes to deepen.

"We... last night..." Julia Bluen quickly sat up, as if she had gotten drunk and mistakenly climbed into the wrong bed. She looked a bit anxious, and the thought flashing through her mind was, What if my sister finds out?

With warm, steady eyes, Glades Horne observed her, thoroughly analyzing her expression and thoughts. Stretching out his long arm, he pulled her closer by the waist.

Julia Bluen gasped, realizing things a moment too late.

"I can forgive you for forgetting everything upon just waking up, but now that you’re clear-headed, kick your sister out of your mind. Remember, I am no longer your sister’s fiancé; I am your husband!" Glades Horne’s husky voice carried a hint of helplessness regarding her tendency to forget reality upon waking.

Meeting his deep gaze and seeing the complex, repressed emotions hidden in the depths of his eyes, Julia Bluen blushed and smiled sincerely, responding, "I’m sorry, this will be the last time."

Glades Horne was finally satisfied.

Just then, an inopportune shout suddenly came from downstairs, "Glades, Julia, are you there?"

They both stared wide-eyed at each other in shock.

It was Mrs. Horne’s voice!

Why had the old lady come over?

Confusion surfaced in their eyes. Not only had she come, but so early! Most people weren’t even up yet. It couldn’t be later than seven in the morning.

The next moment, Julia Bluen pushed Glades Horne away in a flurry, sitting up and looking around frantically, as if searching for something. After looking for a good while without finding what she wanted, she anxiously asked the calm and composed Glades Horne, "Where are my clothes?"

HEH HEH!

Two low laughs sounded.

Glades Horne actually felt like laughing out loud; it was rare to see the little minx so panicked. But considering her pride, he thoughtfully swallowed his laughter, even if it meant stifling himself, and just chuckled softly, as if to remind her that her clothes were already on her.

Last night, they had both slept fully clothed.
